Quest Diagnostics

No one; but me, likes going to the dentist… much less to get blood work done! Today I’m not reviewing food, nor drinks, nor anything fun! My little one and I recently went to get lab work done. I anticipated the place to be packed – especially on a Saturday morning, so I made an appointment over a week in advance. Please allow me to add that this was the only location (the Deerfield Beach Quest), open and with one remaining appointment; so I took it! As I anticipated, when we arrived there was no seat available; but a gentleman kindly gave up his and I sat with my daughter on me. The lady at the window was professional and assertive, but the longer we remained there, the more I saw her kind heart and compassion. I wish I could remember her name; but I personally commended her in front of others prior to leaving! The rest of the staff was also caring and kind to the children. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for the phlebotomy skills of the first lady who drew blood from my little girl. She could not find her veins on either arm and the experience soon became torturous, as she tightened the bands and poked her – I had to stop her! From personal experience, I’ve had difficultly with getting blood drawn because my veins tend to collapse, so I could completely feel my little girl’s pain and desperate cries. The lady apologized, left the room and sent another phlebotomist who immediately apologized, calmed my daughter by distracting her with questions about music and dance, and went as far as showing us a video of her daughter dancing the Whip and Nay Nay. She took some time prepping the arms and went straight for the vein! Done and done. She said that the next time, to ask for her directly and that it would be noted in the system. For this reason, if you should need blood work, I recommend you go to Quest Diagnostic in Deerfield Beach (W. Hillsborough and S. Military Trail).

The staff is really nice, the only bad thing if you do not make an appt be ready to wait, it’s always packed on Saturdays.
