Friendly customer service. I liked the location, and interior of the place. The food was okay. I wasn‘t a big fan, but my girlfriend liked it.

I am going to channel my inner Guy Fieri for this review. For those of you who have lived either in space or on Earth with a bag over your head and ear plugs for the past 20 years, Guy hosts several shows on Food Network. One of those shows is «Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives». This show explores(or used to) the lesser known food joints across this great country. My version of this show is «Cafes, Kitchens, and Country Cookin». This is the first installment. I am here in the tiny southern town of Hickory, NC. You may recognize them for their great furniture industry, but do you know they used to be a bastion for sock making? True story. Now this sleepy town is known for, well, not much. Today I am visiting Hatch Sandwich Bar, located in the quaint and historic downtown area of Hickory. After I dig in here, I can check out a really old movie at the Carolina Theatre for $ 1! I wonder if they have Top Gun? I walk in and step up to the counter. The lady greets me with a firm hello and asks me what I want. I choose the Pork Grilled Cheese. It comes with cilantro, avocado, and mixed cheeses, also with a bag of chips. It arrives to my street view counter quickly, so I dig right in. This thing is pretty big! The bread is perfectly toasted with creamy butter. The cheese is over flowing the sandwich, making this one hard to fit in my mouth. But who am I kidding? I’ve got the biggest mouth in Hollyweird! The pork is cooked perfectly and is heavily ensconced in a ton of cheese. The cheese sticks to my hands and face and even makes its way up to my bleach blonde hair. Anyone have a comb? This sandwich is OOB: Out of bounds. On point. To the sky. Rockin and Rollin. Straight cash homey. Do yourself a favor and get to Hickory and check out Hatch. I hate eggs, but I love Hatch!

Always, always, always good! Don’t be afraid to try something new here. The sandwiches are spectacular; the sides are Hickory’s best-kept secret. Don’t like cauliflower? Brussels sprouts? Neither did I until Hatch. They even have wine!

The best sandwiches I have ever eaten! I had the pork belly sandwich and I must say, it is the best pork belly sandwich that I have had in a long time. The sandwich was Also very affordable! The person I was with had the corn beef sandwich and that was also very delicious. We watched the chef prepare the sandwiches and he isvery much of an expert and puts much love into his work. I always try to stop here whenever I’m passing by on my way to Asheville.

Very good food! I’ve only been here a couple of times but every time I have loved it. I typically go at lunch, although it is crowded sometimes they are very quick and friendly.

This place is tiny(we had a group of three sharing a 2 person table), but the food is good. I had a sweet potato blt with brussel sprouts. The sandwich was delicious. The brussel sprouts were good, but the maple was overpowering. My husband had the meatloaf sandwich with a salad. The salad was huge. He thought his meatloaf was a little lacking. My son had mac and cheese and roasted cauliflower, both were delicious. On a different visit I had the pulled pork plate and it was delicious. The pork didn’t really need sauce.

Great sandwich shop. The space is a little small but it’s a nice change and they serve beer.

We stopped in on our way down from Blowing Rock, NC. My mother and I agree — best sandwiches that we have ever had. Fresh, delicious, quality ingredients properly prepared equal up to the perfectly executed sandwich. I had the classic BLT, as we stopped in at 10:30 a.m. and I couldn’t be too adventurous at that early hour. My mother had the pork belly BLT with the maple brussel sprouts. I am excited that Hickory has such a gem of a lunch spot! As we continued our road trip from the mountains my mother must have said 20 more times that it was the best sandwich she has ever had. In short — just go there. You will be impressed. Alas — I couldn’t believe how low the prices were, great value! YUMMMMMM!

Loved it! Had the chicken salad sandwich and I thought it was great. The bread was just fantastic and the feta crumbles were highly surprising and greatly welcomed. I’ll be back tomorrow, hungry for more :)

Great locally-owned sandwich place in Hickory! Interesting and delicious vegetarian choices and even gluten free bread available! We had the vegetarian Reuben which is made with roasted Brussels sprouts, kraut and melted cheese. It was awesome. My husband had the regular pulled pork Reuben which was also great. Hooray for local food & restaurants in Hickory! Must try and support!

Awesomely good sandwhiches. The pork rueben was excellent, along with the turkey abacado. Very impressed, and the reviews did not disappoint. There is limited seating, so have a Plan B for where you want to eat your sandwhich. We will definately be back!

This was a surprisingly delicious find in the unassuming downtown Hickory! We tried both the Thanksgiving turkey sandwich, as well as the pulled pork banh mi with brussels sprouts and a side salad. The Thanksgiving turkey was the favorite because it had a good savory/sweet balance and the bread was so deliciously crisp. The banh mi had too much meat for the amount of bread/veggies, so I thought it was unbalanced. The brussels sprouts were good, but not the best thing I’ve ever had. I actually preferred the side salad because of its delicious greens and the basalmic dressing.

I Travel for my job and I’m always looking for a great and unique sandwich shop! To call Hatch a sandwich shop would be like calling the Pope a Preacher! HATCH One of the best sandwich shops I’ve ever experienced. The Pulled pork grilled cheese should be first on your list! Yum Yum and Yum!

Just stopped in with friends in the way to the mountains for the Fourth. One of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten. Decided on the pulled pork grilled cheese and it was porking great. My wife ordered the broccoli cheese melt and thought it was delicious. Not only was the food delicious, but the staff was super friendly and just added to an already great experience.

Another great sandwich from Hatch. Recently flew solo and tried the Turkey Bacon Avocado. The roll from Nova, fresh baked that morning. The bacon, perfect and crispy. Loaded with green avocado goodness. The sandwich, simply awesome. Wash it down with a Mama’s Little Yella Pils and Roasted Cauliflower as a side. Doesn’t get any better!

Late Lunch. 4 p.m. BLAT Sandwich = B-acon, L-ettuce, A-vocado, and T-omato on Ciabatta bread. — Perfectly grilled crispy bacon. — Fresh crusty Ciabatta bread. — Frilly lettuce that looked like it had just been harvested. — Thick, juicy, dead ripe, blood red/black, heirloom tomato slices. — A generous quantity of avocado slices. My sandwich was DELICIOUS, no ifs, ands, or buts. This was easily one of the tastiest, most well crafted, sandwiches that I’ve ever eaten. 5⁄5. The mac ‘n cheese was probably THEBESTEVER, either homemade or in a restaurant. It was probably 50% sharp cheddar cheese and 50% noodles, and smoking hot, melty, and delicious — simply perfection. 5⁄5. Mexican Coca-colas are better than their high fructose American counterparts, because they’re still made the same as they were back in the day — with cane sugar. $ 2 per bottle and totally worth the price. 4⁄5. For my refill, I grabbed a Sprecher Cherry cola, which was superb as well. Everyone was ordering this and it was really good. 4.5÷5. PBRs were on special for $ 1.50, if you’re into the hipster vibe. The music today was eclectic, namely — 1940’s Swing music, which one never hears anywhere, much less in a restaurant, mixed in with some raw hard core blues. Price? $ 13 and change before my second soda and a small Snickers for dessert, which added another $ 3. My ONLY complaint is that eating here can be a little expensive, seating is limited, and the music can sometimes be a little too loud. I don’t mind paying extra for their sandwiches, because they focus on quality ingredients and that shines through in the taste of their food. I’m slowly working my way through their menu, and I’ve never had a bad sandwich at Hatch Sandwich Bar.
