This is the most well run veterinary practice I have ever been to.
With 5 veterinarians and a full schedule of available appointments, the front desk staff always manages to get your pet in. Even if you are not a regular– and especially in the event of an emergency– you get a prompt and timely appointment.
They veterinary assistants are friendly, polite, and professional– but most of all– if your pet needs to stay in the clinic, the entire staff gives your pet the love they need while away from home. And you can even come visit the sick pet to offer up more, love, comfort and food.
All the Veterinarians are aware of your pet’s illness and they work seamlessly together to offer up the best care possible.
Their prices are well within normal care, and estimates are given.

I have gone to many bad vet over the years… THIS VET IS THE BEST I HAVE EVER BEEN TO !!! THEY LOVE CATS !!! I deal with feral cats. I had two ferals I adpoted one got very sick. pussual in her uterus … THEY saved her life !!! GREAT SURGEONS ‚. GREAT (NURSES)/ VET ASSISTANTS & THE NICEST RECEPTIONIST. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM. THE DOCTORS took time to speak to me every step of my cats recovery. they gave me a game plan & a itemized list of what my cat needed & they tried to only do what was nessaury not to over charge me. I have been to vets & there office help had no compassion for me or my sick animals. I finally found a sweet compassionate VET & STAFF & they are great with DOGS & CATS. I WILL ONLY TAKE MY ANIMALS HERE !!! YOU SHOULD TOO !!!

I have been bringing my dogs to Dr. Zeifman and Dr. Robeson now for years. They have both been amazing. My daughter’s canine companion had to have some surgery and Dr. Robeson was so caring and warm. Everytime we go in now, even if it just to get his nails cut, they know all about him. Always a smile and Dr Robeson called and checked on him regularly throughout his ordeal. They are really the best vet that we have used in the area. Highly recommend.

Dr. Zeifman has taken care of the love of my life Layla. She is a chi winne and is on her 6^th life; We have been through dental, liver, bood clotting issues and last but no least choclate toxication. She has been patient and diligent about her care. So lucky to have her to be a part of my dogs health care team!!!

Really disappointed. After reading all the amazing reviews on Unilocal,I thought my experience would’ve been better. I went on a Friday afternoon, my appointment was at 4 and my pup and I did not get to see the vet until 45 minutes later. The waiting room was nearly empty. I had to go up to the front desk to ask how much longer it would take, I had a feeling they forgot I was even there. My pup was so scared and shaking the whole time. After being sent into the room, the vet assistant left me and my pup in there for another 10 minutes until we finally got to see the vet. I was there for nearly two hours. I feel like they also want to overcharge you for things that are not necessary to get more money out of you. The girls at the front desk are extremely unfriendly and will not acknowledge you standing right in front of them for a good 5 minutes. Take your pets somewhere else.

So disappointed! This office is so chaotic my elderly dog who is usually excited to visit with everyone was cowering, moaning and shaking in the corner of the exam room. There is standing room only in the waiting room, the front staff is rude and takes a good 10 minutes or longer to even acknowledge you when you approach the desk. It took 15 minutes of me standing there just for them to acknowledge me to pay the bill. After the office messed up the urine sample I was told I had to leave the dog there in a cage until she had to go again for her own good. When you voice your opinion to the vet who is the owner he does not want to hear it. My dog is the most precious thing to me and I’m not putting her in this stressful inefficient environment. Moving on…

I have 3 pets, I have been coming here for over 5 years. I recently had many
issues with my little pups and doctor kornet has gone above and beyond being my
vet. The doctors and staff are top notch, caring and compassionate. I never have
to wait to get an appointment. Receptionist always get me I in anytime I call,
even just for a simple nail clipping. Recently loosing one of my dogs I was so
overwhelmed by the support this office showed me. They explained my options and
we’re sad and sympathetic with my loss. I Love this business and all the
employees, reception area can be busy at times but every person in that office
has always given me the time and answered every question I have ever had. If I
call the doctors they return my calls within a reasonable time. I drive from
dix hills in the rain, snow, night, day anytime to get the best health care for
my animals. Thank you mid island for all you do for my family.

Unwelcoming right from the start.

Whenever my puppy needs a bath or her nails cut this is the place we bring her too. The vet techs are really nice and the people at the front desk are super helpful and try to help any way they can. Just came back from Getting my dogs nails cut and it took longer then usual but because they where dealing with not one but two emergencies. I praise the fact they made me wait so they could deal with an emergency, i know if it was my dog i would want them to take her ASAP not make me wait in line. Very nice people i totally reccommend.

I cannot say enough praise about this animal hospital! Been using them since 2004 when I rescued my 1^st bonded brother and sister chihuahua mix. I have had appts with each of the veterinarians over the last 10+ years and I adore each and every one of them! They all have different personalities but they are all extremely professional and thorough. Dr. Crosio saved my baby’s life and Dr. Zeifman did as well when my boy hurt a disc in his back and lost ability to urinate on his own. She went above and beyond and miraculously he urinated on his own a few weeks later!!!
Dr Robeson is wonderful and Dr Raciti always has a calming effect on my pups.
Parking is rough as the parking lot can fit maybe 5 cars. Office is always clean and busy. Front desk staff is great too. Joanne is always pleasant and the vet techs are kind and professional as well.
Highly recommend them!!!

I’ve had three different vets for my cats and I’ve now found one I’m sticking with. The first time I went to Mid Island I was a little put off by the smell but I’m happy I stayed anyway. We have only used Dr. Crosio and she has been the best! I brought the cats there for their usual check up and vaccinations and we decided to put them on a diet. Since then, I’ve probably brought them there at least four times to be weighed and although Dr. Crosio takes time to speak with us about her thoughts on their weight loss we have never been charged again; not to mention she has been finding ways to avoid having me spend a ton of money on prescription food by using other comparable food I can buy in the pet store. She also reviews her notes on the animals she has seen throughout the day to ensure she didn’t miss anything; I’ve gotten call backs from her after hours to go over or clarify something she saw in her notes. Very attentive and helpful. I recommend this place to everyone who worries about the quality of care their pet receives.
(P.S. the receptionists aren’t very welcoming and often seem confused but Dr. Crosio is worth it!)

No better animal hospital on the Island! Compassionate, kind and professional in every way. We had to put our beloved 15 y.o. beagle to sleep a few days ago and Dr. Robeson and her staff were incredibly comforting. I knew my little buddy was in good and loving hands right away. Dr. Robeson was incredibly succinct, warm, and professional… I know if I ever have another pet, I would not hesitate for a second bringing it here… no matter where I lived. They are all, the Drs. and staff, that wonderful.

After reading reviews I picked this place to bring my new OES puppy, and I’m glad I did, so far I had 2 appointments, and all I have to say is: I LOVE THIS PLACE AND SO DOES MY PUPPY, he is always very exited when we get near the Vet, the Vets are so nice and the Vets helpers are SO SWEET!!!
It’s always a pleasure going there, I know my puppy are in good hands. He place is always very clean, the front desk people are very polite and helpful. Never had to wait more than 10 minutes after my appointment time, but I always make early morning appointments.

Mid Island Animal Hospital was recommended by my neighbor. It is a 30 min drive but definitely a life-​saver. I have nothing but good things to say about this place. The doctors really helped my dog in crisis. My old vet (too far away) also said good things about the doctors here.

This place is exceptional. We were in the area temporarily for work when our dog became ill. We called as soon as they opened and they told us to come right over. Once we arrived, they immediately evaluated Riley, and it wasn’t long before we were meeting with the vet. After an exam and X-​rays, they gave us the hard news that the little guy had heart failure and fluid in his lungs. He was kept or a few hours while they did an echocardiogram and put him on an IV of Lasix, a diuretic. Long story short, he was feeling better in just a few hours and after five days of a strong diuretic and two heart meds, he was very close to his old self. The staff was kind, caring, and knowledgeable. I recommend this animal hospital whole heartedly!

I was VERY surprised with how helpful everyone was here, especially when I was panicking over my pet’s unknown illness. This isn’t my primary animal hospital and it was a last minute life or death situation for me — so I can’t recall the name of the Vet who took care of my kitten. Buy she was extremely helpful, caring and sincere.
Comparing this to my experience at the animal hospital in Syosset, I couldn’t be happier! They were quick, and most importantly — they help my kitten get better. Thank you!

I went to Mid Island Animal Hospital one night around 7:30 when my kitten, Husker (named after William Adama’s Callsign, Battlestar Galactica) did not seem to be recovering well after he underwent some procedures at a different animal hospital (my usual go-​to vet). My usual Animal Hospital was already closed for the night. Two days before Husker was was fixed and had a nasal passage surgery (was widened) to assist his breathing. He is a persian cat and had very pinched nostrils.
Although MIAH was closing shortly and they were busy with their scheduled patients, one of the vets, Dr. Robeson spent some time talking to me over the telephone about my concern and then told me I could come in and see her (despite the aforementioned).
The reception staff and Dr. Robeson were both very caring and understanding. I waited until Dr. Robeson finished with her last scheduled patient and then brought Husker in. She patiently spoke with me about the last few days and his recent procedure and then proceeded to give him some fluids under the skin, an antibiotic and a slight dosage of pain medication. He was much better the next day.
Mid Island Animal Hospital lived up to its reviews. I shall be returning.

This is the absolute best place to take your beloved pets.
We travel 45 minutes to take our dogs. The doctors are awesome. All our family pets come here. Dr. Kornet is the best as well as all the rest of the Doctors. They are so friendly and caring to each pet. They seem to employ the friendliest staff. Each and everyone is caring and always looking to do what is right for you and your loved ones.
This is absolutely the best operation I have seen. I think they feed off one another to see who is more caring. If you love your pets as much as I do this is the place to take your pets.

Our family has been using Mid Island since my Mom moved to Hicksville in 1984. Can’t say enough about Dr. Kornet! He’s saved several of our pets’ lives and is so dedicated to his patients. We’ve been pretty happy with the other vets too, as well as the techs. We have had the occasional issue with front desk staff, but on the whole they are friendly and accomodating.
Parking is definitely an issue, unless you go on a weekday! There is a large lot behind the strip mall next door, but it’s a little tricky getting in and out with a large dog in tow (or a couple of cats in carriers).
My Mom has boarded her dogs here and they LOVE their little «vacation» at Mid Island — Joanne at the front desk gives them plenty of attention. :) We’ve boarded our cats too, but since they do not offer adjoining cages for siblings, we now board them elsewhere.
Wait time is also atrocious, again, on weeknights or the weekend. Prepare to wait an average of half an hour past your scheduled appointment time. That said, we still won’t take our cats to any other vet, even though we now live in Queens!
ps — we have experienced, especially with the younger doctors, a bit of «up-​selling.» For example, we were told that one of our cats needed an echocardiogram to further examine a heart murmur. Not sure how the vet heard that since this guy growls and screams every time we bring him in. Anyway, he developed a urinary blockage shortly thereafter, and while he was sedated and quiet, Dr. Kornet heard no murmur. Glad we decided to hold off, and save a few hundred dollars! Just be an educated consumer and don’t be afraid to ask questions! The doctors and office staff definitely respect that.

Amazing knowledgeable, loving vets and staff. My dog and I love this place!
My dog has been seeing Dr. Kornet for years and about 2 yrs ago we almost lost my dog. Dr. Kornet and his staff worked round the clock, nursing him back to health. My dog is turning 17 this year and still going strong.
