History

Established in 2000.

Camp Bow Wow was established in 2000 in Boulder, Colorado. There are currently 120 open camps across the United States and Canada individually owned by franchisees. This Highland Heights Franchise was purchased by Missy Bedwell, Jen D’Aurelio and Mike Paquette in January of 2015.

Business Owner

Missy Bedwell –Co-Owner of Camp Bow Wow Highland Heights since it was bought in January 2015 has been the Vice President of Paws and Prayers Pet Rescue for 4 Years. She has fostered more than 300 pups and has helped place between 1000 and 2000 animals in Furever homes during that 4 year period. LOVES DOGS.

Jen D’Aurelio — Co-Owner since January 2015 is the Executive Director for Paws and Prayers Pet Rescue. She has saved more than 8000 animals during her time involved with the rescue. LOVES DOGS.

Mike Paquette — Co-Owner since January 2015 has also successfully owned and operated Camp Bow Wow in Cuyahoga Falls Ohio for the last 6 years. LOVES DOGS.

The combined experience of these three people will make the NEW Camp Bow Wow of Highland Heights a terrific Success.

I wouldn’t recommend the Highland Heights location to anyone!!! My large dog was forgotten about in a cage all day, without water, food or exercise.- these facts were later verified by an employee of Camp bowwow.
Myself and some family members of mine couldn’t see our dog on the live webcam so we called in to find out where he was. We were lied to throughout the day about his whereabouts. You would think that a place with live streaming webcams would be on their A-game, but not this one! Keep reading; this is where not good turns into epic failure…
It proved to be a total waste of time when we brought our complaints to Amy, the owner. She was immediately combative and instead of trying to fix the situation, she made things WAY worse! –Instead of me going into detail about what she did/said (beyond unprofessional), I think its best to say that it was just a terrible experience all around! I wish I could upload the drunken voicemail that she left me at 6pm one evening. It’s hard to make out what she was saying because she is slurring her words so much but, it always is good for a laugh. We do play it in front of our children when we need teach a life lesson about how not to act. –Pathetic!

If you care about your dog… Then don’t bring them here! We had the same experience that other Unilocalers complained about… Our dog was left in a cage all day!!!
We were told that the person in charge wasn’t in and that it was overlooked by the staff. Thank goodness for the cameras is all I have to say! Our dog was going every once in awhile to get some exercise and socialization when we were at work… Well being shoved in a cage all day doesn’t cut it for us!!! There was no remorse from the staff. It makes you wonder how many other dogs are thrown in a cage all day there. Keep your pet safe and stay away!!!

There were three things that made me drop my review. I have moved so I won’t be taking my dog here anyway but I thought I’d update for other patrons.
These events occurred on two occasions this is not all from the same visit.
1. My pup came home with a bloody paw.
2. It appeared my dog was kept in his cage and not in the open play area for possibly two days while boarding for a week.
3. I paid ahead of time for boarding so my sister could pick up my dog without paying but they charged her again.
#1. Okay, so the paw thing, I get it, dogs get rowdy but they didn’t say anything to me, I noticed it as I left and went in to ask about it. Of course there was no explanation.
#2. I’m glad they had cameras so I could watch my dog run around during the day. I checked him each moment I could. But on several occasions he wasn’t in the play room for whole days. I was on the west coast so by the time I woke up they had been out for a bit. I’d immediately check on my fella and when I didn’t see him I’d call to ask why. They told me he had to go to his pen due to over excitement. The thing that bothers me about this is that my dog was young and playful not aggressive, he was nearly a year at this point so why wasn’t there an alternative to just locking him up alone for hours? Considering they’re left alone over night I’m sure he hated it. I’m not sure active dogs get the attention they should here.
#3. They double charged us. I don’t know how it wasn’t indicated he was paid for in full but apparently it wasn’t. My sister picked up my dog and called me saying she had to pay although I told her she didn’t. I asked her the amount and it was what I had already paid. She was reluctant to argue with them at the time but at least called before she drove off. I called the office and eventually cleared it up so my sister could go back in and get refunded but geez, let’s get organized. I hope they don’t miss charge other people.

4 stars instead of 5 because they do not have staff on site 24 hours. Therefore, I can’t board my dog there.
Daycare at Camp Bow Wow is amazing!!! My little guy loves it and his tail starts wagging as soon as we pull into the parking lot. He always leaves happy and sleepy, a sign of a great day playing with his buddies.
Special shout out to Leanne and Lydia, who my little one just adores and can’t wait to jump up on and lick!
They have «camper cams» set up so you can watch your doggie online, but unfortunately they are never working. Bummer.
I wish they had staff on site overnight because I would definitely use them for boarding as well.

«Camp Bow Wow? You wanna go to Camp Bow Wow?»
That is all we have to say to get our dog into the car and on our way to his favorite place, Camp Bow Wow. Our dog literally goes nuts when we mention it.
Camp Bow Wow is such a friendly and welcoming environment to dogs. You would never expect it to be located where it is (in the middle of a long office park side street). The staff is very friendly, especially the owner, the dog play and sleep areas are well-maintained, and it is overall just a wonderful experience. The prices are very reasonable and the hours are flexible, as well.
Although, before you get too excited… there is a free doggy interview that your dog must attend. The employees there then decide if your dog is allowed to join the other campers. When you pick your dog up, you will receive a cute little report card!
We have total confidence in trusting Camp Bow Wow with our dog. They even have cameras for you to watch your four-legged family member play and interact with the other dogs that are there.
By the way, if you are a first-timer, be sure to ask them for a free tour of the facility. You will be impressed.
