The tailoring work was perfect, but even more reason to go to Anthony is his personable and genuinely happy spirit!

Anthony is an old-​world tailor. He has the skills to do the job right. Had two jackets fixed and a pair of pants and they are perfect. Super nice guy as well. Anything I need, I bring to him.

Anthony is absolutely amazing! I found myself unexpectedly in need of a tailor and Unilocal was clear that Anthony is the best around. The catch was I was coming in on Saturday and needed my suit back *before* Thursday.
Keep in mind I am a first time customer who is only bringing in one suit. Anthony immediately volunteered that he could just stay late on Wednesday so I would be able to get there after work. That is some of the best customer service I have ever experienced.
Sure enough, the suit was ready in time and looked great. The feather in the cap is that the prices were reasonable too! I simply cannot recommend Anthony enough.

Anthony is a tremendously gifted, Italian trained tailor, who is also a true mensch of a man. («Mensch» = Yiddish word meaning kind, warm-​hearted.)
I was in town and needed two pairs of dress pants shortened THAT DAY and Anthony came to the rescue!
The next time I am in from LA, I am bringing Anthony more pants to shorten. He is THAT good.
I had so much fun chatting with him in his old school shop… I was kinda sad leaving. (I am writing this review in his parking lot :-)

Anthony is simply the best. The guy does what he does because he loves it and he loves the people. He does an incredible job and is reliable. He has done suits,
pants and jeans for me and has made the perfect recommendations every time.

Needed a dress hemmed in 24 hours. I called. He said bring it in. Not only did he meet my time frame, he did an excellent job. I’ll be back!

My lovely girlfriend had to have a dress taken in for a birthday dinner, and the clock was ticking. Anthony went out of his way to make sure the dress was done in time, and did a spectacular job. The dress wasn’t just taken in, but minute changes were made to the overall form of the dress, to make it even more flattering. Modified seams were expertly stitched, and imperceptible from the original stitching if I hadn’t seen the dress beforehand.
Anthony’s shop is tucked in the corner of a small brick business center. Enter from Pine Ave., into the parking lot, and look for the red awning. He only accepts personal check and cash.
My girlfriend and I were both very pleased by the quality of the workmanship. There are less expensive tailors in the North Shore, but Anthony has proven to be worth every penny when it comes to your more precious outfits.

I brought Anthony a suit that I rarely wear and that was now two sizes too big. Within a week, he essentially returned to me an entirely new suit. It looks and fits beautifully. He basically took my entire suit apart and rebuilt it from the ground up. The quality and precision shine through in every stitch. Anthony, thank you for such marvellous craftsmanship; clearly you know your craft.

I’ve had this sitting in my unfinished reviews for a while now, and I have to share it. It’s not a good review by any means, so a part of me never wanted to share it, but I can’t hide it.
«I’m sorry, but this place is completely unprofessional. As far as craftsmanship goes, 5 stars. Couldn’t have asked for anything better. Long story short, Anthony had two articles of clothing of mine that needed SIMPLE alterations and it took him just under a month and a half to do them. Unfortuntely you read that correctly, a month and half. He pushed back his deadline for when the articles would be done 4 TIMES!!! I don’t care how good of a tailor you are, that is completely unprofessional and there is a lack of respect for the customer when that happens. No intigrity whatsoever. Long story follows if anyone is interested:
I went into Anthony’s after moving here from Chicago and I needed a new tailor close by. I saw the great reviews and thought I would try him out. I only brought in two coats that needed to have a few inches taken off the bottom, that’s it. He told me they would be ready in two weeks. A little long, but no worries. I came back in two weeks. Anthony tells me the coats aren’t done and asks if I can come back in a week and a half. That should have instantly been a red flag since if most tailors can’t finish your piece when they say they will, they will make it top priority and get it to you the next day. Not a week and a half later. Anyways, I stupidly agree and come back in a week and half (which ends up being a Friday). Coats still aren’t done. He asks if I can come back in a week. Being the idiot I am, I agree. I come back the next Friday and he says he’s working on the coats right now. Are you fucking serious! It’s been a fucking month! He tells me come back tomorrow and he’ll have them ready for me. I come back the next day (Saturday) and he tells me the coats are done but they’re at the dry cleaners. He has me write down my address and phone number and he says he will personally deliver them to me when they’re done. When he said this, I had regained some respect for him. I’m sure you can all guess what happened next. No phone call. No coats dropped off. These are the kinds of things you just can’t make up. I was unable to go back in Monday to pick them up, so I stop in Tuesday to pick up the coats. Again, reminder, it’s been over a month now. I walk in, and his line to me, which was the snakiest line I’ve ever heard and I should have blown up in his face, was «my wife just left with your coats to drop them off at your place.» Really Anthony, really. Are you sure? Here, let me go home and wait for her to drop off my coats. Oh, what do you know. No coats are dropped off. I go back in Wednesday and he gives me the biggest bullshit line ever, «she went to drop them off and forgot to call you.» Forgets to call me! How the hell else would she expect to find me in an apartment building with 300 residents. Yodel (sp)? Anyways, he finally had my coats, I paid and left.
*as a side note, I mentioned earlier that the work was 5 star but that’s actually not accurate. He accidentally cut the seam to one of my pockets and instead of fixing of it (probably because it would have taken him another month), he told me not to put my keys in my pocket or they would fall yet. Yet, when I took that same coat into another tailor to have the sleeves taken in, not only did she get it back to me in less than a week, but she also fixed the pocket without telling me and without charging me. That’s a true tailor*

Anthony is awesome! Tailoring is done great, never sloppy and hes just an all around cool guy. After a while, you get to know him and its like visiting an old friend; he’s got that Mediterranean charisma that makes you want to keep going. You can tell Anthony knows what he’s doing

I went here after reading a lot of reviews on the best place to get your wedding dress altered. The first time i went it was a little hard to find, tucked away in a corner. As soon as you enter you are greeted by an older Italian man which was the owner Anthony. I could not be more pleased with them. they treat you like you are family and his wife that does all of the wedding dresses is wonderful. they remember who you are and are not afraid to tell you what they think about what should be done. my dress has turned out wonderful, and i brought a second one in that was done in no time. they are reasonably priced as well.

As I walked around the back of a building that looked abandoned with the exception of an old dry cleaner I couldn’t help think a) I hope I make it out of this HP strip mall alive and b) this is exactly the type of business I’d never find if it wasn’t for Unilocal.So Unilocalers… thank you for helping me find Anthony!
My sis-​in-​law got married last weekend. I had ordered my bridesmaids dress when I was 7 months pregnant and Jenny Yoo* convinced me to order my dress 3 sizes bigger even though my baby would be 4 ½ months old by wedding time. When I picked up the dress there was good & bad news.
Good news– the dress was 3 sizes too big. Phew!
Bad news– I had to find someone to make this dress fit.
I have a few tailors I like in the city, but time is limited these days so I turned to Unilocal to find a local tailor. The day I called Anthony to ask for his hours and he said he’d stay late just for me I knew I’d found a gem. And when I met him I was even more impressed. He’s one of the sweetest people I’ve met since moving to the North Shore and definitely seems to know his stuff when it comes to tailoring. I was so impressed that I sent my husband his way to make his wedding tux fit five years later. And I even brought Anthony my daughter’s flower girl dress and he found a way to take it out just a bit since I was paranoid about a growth spurt coming on.
A few weeks later (thanks to Anthony and his lovely wife) my dress fit perfectly, my daughter’s dress fit perfectly and my husband was back in his wedding tux. We paid a pretty penny for clothes that fit (over $ 200), but that’s to be expected with any tailor. I’ll definitely be returning to Anthony for all my future tailoring needs. Anthony is great. He does great work and treats you like family. This is like walking into a bygone era. A winning combination. Now I can feel comfortable saying I have a real tailor.

Simply the best. Anthony is a true tradesman. He knows his craft and executes superbly. Not a seamstress masquerading as a tailor.
The incident that convinced me to make Anthony my only tailor happened a few years ago. I had purchased a gown from Lord & Taylor on super clearance for a black tie event but it needed a little adjusting in the bodice. This was tricky because much of the bodice was made from a sheer material. I took the dress to a number of other tailors prior to Anthony and they all wanted to cut the shoulders and put seams in where there hadn’t been any before. Thus destroying some of the beauty of the dress. When I brought the dress to Anthony he told me that was the lazy way to fix the dress. What needed to happen was that the bodice needed to be detached from the skirt and adjusted from there. He did that and the dress was perfect!
I don’t go anywhere else now!

My daughter has her 1^st communion coming up and decided to wear the dress that I wore (back in the day). She is much smaller than I was at 8 years old.
Anthony and his wife, Irene, at first I think, were in shock to see us come in. But I explained why we were there and they were a delight to work with. My daughter loved Anthony and his sense of humor. She suggested that I write this review.
Without any explanations, other than why we were there, they took on the task, like experts. They gave comments on things to add, like a satin ribbon around the waist to keep it up to date. Making both my daughter and I feel very well and confident. When we went back to pick it up. I noticed that they did not cut the dress, only hemmed it with keeping the material underneath. I was excited to notice this. I forgot to mention to Anthony that I have another daughter to follow. Now she has the choice to use the dress, if she desires.
Such a great guy and a good sense of humor made our experience there excellent. When I asked how much I owe, he said that it is a gift for my daughter’s 1^st communion. So sweet, it left both myself and my daughter smiling all day.

Anthony is exactly the tailor I have been looking for all these years. He is absolutely great– attentive to your needs, understands fabric well and is realistic about what can be done. I brought in an expensive pair of pants and a thrift store find that I just loved but could not fit into. Anthony and his wife (family business, I love it!) fixed everything very quickly and the job looks fantastic (great fit, exactly the length I wanted for the pants). Pants were particularly tricky, because Anthony had to adjust the length and also the waist. Both were done perfectly!
Now I am busy rummaging through my closet for more stuff to fix– definitely will be going back to Anthonys soon!

I have known Anthony when he worked for Ted Lapidus on Michigan Ave, and Stuart Chicago on Oak Street. He then branched out on his own and opened his first store in Chicago, then Barrington and now his present location in Highland Park, Il. He is an excellent Tailor, and will not do any short cuts in his tailoring to make fast money. (as they say in his trade). He takes pride in his work and if he does a re-​cut on a suit you will not see pockets of your pants meeting in the middle, or gathering of material. He will rip the complete suit apart and put it back together with the proper adjustments on the entire suit, not just parts of it. This is obviously a much longer process but the correct one. You know the saying you get what you pay for. His knowledge and expertise, comes from going to design school for women and men. He made me several suits and dresses for me back in the day by just bringing a picture to him from a magazine. As well he has done my alterations for several years now. I have tried other tailors and seamstress and there is no comparison or the quality of work.
Be prepared that sometimes you will wait longer for your garments to be ready. He tries to please everyone and takes on too much work. He does most of the work himself. In the end the wait is worth it.

Anthony is the best tailor in the Shore Shore area! He has a great eye for fashion and he tailors pants to perfection! IYou cannot go wrong with an Italian tailor… I highly recommend him!
