BTO Self Serve Frozen Yogurt has been voted Best Frozen Yogurt by 5280 Magazine and Best Dessert by The Highlands Ranch Herald! Locally owned and operated, we love serving our community with our clean, friendly shop serving 16 fresh and funky flavors of froyo and over 70 toppings, ranging from delicious syrups, fruits, and nuts, to a wide array of sweet cereals and candies.

From tart mango to creamy Nutella and everything in between, we always provide at least one «no sugar added» and one non-​dairy flavor every day! Our yogurt is made fresh daily by our yogurtologists and we are known for our creative and unique flavors. By popular demand we have added smoothies and bubble teas to offerings.

We have «party packs» available for all kinds of special occasions, including having portable yogurt machines available for rent and a YoMobile for those large outdoor events. We love serving our community — please ask about our fundraiser options!

Our process is simple — just grab a cup, make your flavor selection, load up your toppings, weigh and pay! We love our Highlands Ranch and Denver community and look forward to seeing you in our shop soon!

History

Established in 2011.

BTO Self Serve Frozen Yogurt is a mom and pop yogurt shop opened in 2011 by longtime Colorado residents Jack and Lee Doyle. We are committed to serving the most delicious frozen yogurt in the area using quality ingredients and the freshest toppings available! We love giving back to our community through friendly service, fundraisers, and having a «charity jar» to give back to charities on a daily basis rather than having a tip jar! Our team has over 40 years of experience in customer service and are committed to making your frozen yogurt experience a pleasant one, and we hope to see you at BTO soon!

Went for frozen yogurt. Got to the counter and the registers didn’t work. Clerk tries to fix them, she can’t so she gets the manager/​owner. He comes out can’t fix them either and powers them down and waits to boot them again. Our yogurt was melting before our eyes and there were 5 other people in line behind us, so everyone’s yogurt was melting. After literally 10 – 15 minutes of waiting around, with no luck in fixing the registers, (and them saying they had to power down again) I gave the melted yogurt back to them and left. Who knows how long the others stayed to wait.
Horrible customer service. I understand glitches happen with computers, but to keep someone waiting to take their money while the product becomes melted and useless was insane with complete disregard to the customers. By that point I was not going to pay for melted yogurt nor stand around for another 20 minutes while they figured things out. To appease the situation, why wouldn’t they just say… take the yogurt, it’s on us today, and close up shop till the computers could be fixed. Neither employee was helpful in the least.
It was a loose/​loose situation. They lost their yogurt and also several customers for good.
They got their yogurt back (melted) and I will not be returning!

We are regulars here for a reason. The owners are super nice! The flavors are fun and vary! We love that they offer dairy free and stevia sweetened options. The toppings are spectacular and they will get separate toppings from the back if you are worried about cross contamination ! My favorite flavor is the white chocolate.

I just moved to Highlands Ranch and was hopeful this place was good so I could have something nearby for a quick treat. Unfortunately, it was the worst frozen yogurt I’ve ever had (not exaggerating).
I’m hoping it was a bad day or something, of the 7 flavors I tried — none were acceptable. I did end up buying a 16oz with half cake batter and half salted carmel, my typical favorite mix at other Frozen Yogurt places. I ended up throwing it away when I got home.
What I was dissatisfied with, specifically, was the flavors tasted very chemical-​like, not fresh at all (I know, I know, the «other-​guys» use artificial flavors as well, but they usually taste better). The ingredients I tried (cheesecake, cookie dough, walnuts) were also very stale.
On the bright side, the store is nice and clean. The machines are very new and modern looking. I like that sanitizer and tasting cups were very accessible and the cashier was very nice and very friendly. I hope they can work on the quality of the yogurt and ingredients to match the great facility.

Seriously the BEST fro-​yo flavors we’ve EVER had! We LOVED it! Price is fair, probably a little more than we’re use to, however it was SO worth it!
The cookie dough topping is amazing!
Be careful, you may pile your cup higher than you anticipate due to great taste.
They also do sample cups!
Lastly, you even get a free cup on your birthday!

Initial impression was that the machines they use are *great*, but the contents were only so-​so. Flavors were not rich nor unique. More watered down than most. Will try going again and spend more time there to make sure it wasn’t due to the flavor selection not matching our desires.
Its location in Highlands Ranch is pretty good for us since it is closer than others we go to.

Love the flavors and the taste of yogurt at this place!
We got there just as they were closing, in fact she (Kate) was working alone and cleaning dishes in the kitchen, yet she was all smiles and told us to go ahead and help ourselves. A few people came in after we did and they got their yogurt as well.
Thanks for staying open a little later to let my family get our yogurt fix for the night Kate!

We love BTO! The yogurt is creamy, not gritty like most others. There are amazing selection of fruity, sweet, and tart yogurts. They even have gluten free and dairy free. The topping selection is hands-​down the best. Our family has tried every yogurt shop we know of in Highlands Ranch, this one can’t be beat!

I am a frequent customer of several yogurt shops in the Denver metro area: Peachwave, Red Mango, Smart Cow, Yogurtland, etc as well as BTO. I love their yogurt! It has great flavor, and texture. They have a good variety of flavors, both more tangy or more sweet. Their topping selection has always been clean, and well stocked when I visit, which is often. They are among the few who have real cookie dough topping that is like homemade – not those tasteless, yucky pellets you find in many yogurt shops.
The only improvement I would like to see is a few more flavors, or for the selection to change a bit more often. Sometimes the new flavors that sound so great are non-​dairy flavors, which although I understand the need to have flavors for the lactose-​intolerant, are rather an odd texture and not good.
I would love to see a regular yogurt flavor in cinnamon, amaretto, or some other exotic flavors.
All in all, BTO is an excellent yogurt shop and I will continue to recommend it!

Just in town visiting from San Francisco where there are a number of high quality self-​service yogurt shops which I frequent. But I must say BTO was a 5 star experience! Most importantly, the yogurt was delicious. Very ‘true’ flavors with perfect consistency! The owners must have done their research. Also, the toppings included perfectly ripe, freshly cut fruit. The blueberries were plump, kiwi’s bright green and juicy. Of course there were also the usual and unusual candies.
As for the overall experience, it was so refreshing to walk into a place and be received with a friendly smile by the owners. The store, machines and restroom were impeccably clean (felt like I was visiting someone’s well-​kept home). Even the booster seat was without blemish, which I never see. My experience was better than any I’ve had in San Fran (plus I can never find a booster seat in San Fran, let alone a perfectly clean one). As someone always looking for easy places to meet friends or other moms, this would be a regular place for me.

With the number of fro yo shops increasing exponentially there are obviously going to be those that get weeded out and I think that this place will soon be one of them. I was not impressed with either the yogurt or the toppings. I got tart yogurt and it wasn’t tart enough, was too creamy in my opinion and melted quickly. As for toppings, there was nothing special and there really weren’t that many toppings to begin with.
I’m sorry but if you can’t provide an experience that is unique from all of the other yogurt shops that have been appearing around town and your yogurt is low quality, it’s only a matter of time before you suffer the consequences. I’m sick of low quality yogurt shops.

The yogurt is too sweet for my taste. It is almost more like soft serve ice cream, with no tang. The owner stood and hovered over us while we sampled a couple of flavors, which I thought was kind of weird. We purchased five yogurts for my group, and as we walked out I heard someone say something about a loyalty program. I went back in and asked about it, and the woman at the register said that we could not get credit for the yogurts that we bought. Bad customer service plus mediocre yogurt equals two stars.

I’m updating my review because I just received a pretty disappointing message from a friend of the owners basically demanding me to up my rating for BTO. I think 3 stars was a fair rating for the experience I had at BTO.
The message I received basically dissed Red Mango because they are not «Mom and Pop» while BTO is «Mom and Pop». In addition I was told that I should support local businesses. As a local business owner MYSELF, that got to me.
To me it sounds like this person’s criteria for «Mom and Pop» is that the owners live in the same area of the business, regardless of if they are part of a larger nationwide franchise system. BTO is a part of a franchise system (which I like!) and the owners of the Highlands Ranch store live in the area. Well Red Mango is ALSO a part of a franchise system and the owners of the Highlands Ranch store ALSO live in the area. So I guess Red Mango is ALSO «Mom and Pop».
My thoughts about their frozen yogurt flavors and toppings remain a 3-​star rating. However, I should clarify what I meant by BTO not having as many toppings as the other yogurt places. What I MEANT was they had spaces on their counter for the same amount of toppings as Peachwave, Yogurtland or Red Mango… BUT a lot of those spaces were EMPTY! They were not keeping their inventory of toppings stocked. And I am still disappointed they they didn’t have simple vanilla yogurt when I went in.
I give BTO a 2-​star rating now because when visiting a place of business, whether it be a yogurt place, a full service restaurant, or a clothing store… the rating is based on the TOTAL experience. My TOTAL experience with BTO just got worse with the message from their friend.

Highlands Ranch, CO
This is the best frozen yogurt shop around. I drive by Yogurt Your Way, Peachwave and Red Mango to go straight to BTO. It is well worth the extra drive (about once a week!). I like Yogurtland as well and would put this on par if not slightly better. The nutella, chocolate brownie, oreo, strawberry, key lime pie and mango are our favorites along with the mochi, fresh mango and various candies. The owners are always welcoming everyone with a smile, bringing a nice small town feel to Highlands Ranch.

My kids and I have recently become big frozen yogurt fans. The shops have been also popping up all over our area. So far our favorite is Yogurtland and we’ve been making the 15 minute drive to go there. So when this place opened a mile from my house I was excited to check it out.
It is clean and open, and for all intensive purposes very similiar to other Serve Yourself Yogurt places. I understand they just opened, so I’ll cut them some slack, and plan to revisit and will let you know if they improve.
But as far as the day I checked them out, their grand opening week, they just didn’t impress me that much. There were three tables, and although the line was about 1⁄10 of that that Yogurtlands always is (where I can always get a seat) we could not get a place to sit. The toppings weren’t that great, with different kinds of cereal being a lot of the selection, which just isn’t appealing to me.
One bonus: they did have Nutella yogurt!
