Food was blah. If you are not familiar with or used to eating back Mexican(a.k.a. Tex-Mex) I can understand how this place would get a decent rating. This place is really unimpressive; the meat is not your true fajita meat(beef skirt) and is dry and tough. Beans taste like they came out of a can. Chips and salsa were ok, but nothing that we ordered was worth eating again and nothing on the menu is true Mexican just sloppy microwave prepared tex-mex. I would have given it 2 stars had they not screwed up our order after waiting an hour when the place wasn’t even that busy. Save yourself the time, money and grief and find somewhere else to eat.

This has to be the worst experience I have had for takeout Mexican. We got the Hawaiian quesadilla, pollo entomatado, and Tijuana street tacos. The Hawaiian quesadilla is supposed to be this: Flour tortillas filled with grilled chicken, pineapple, mango, red onion, green and red bell peppers and mixed cheese and then grilled until melty on the inside and crispy on the outside, garnished with a pineapple mango chutney. I asked for no pineapple chutney, and received nothing but a greasy chicken and cheese quesadilla. NONE of the other ingredients! The Pollo Entomatado had a pounded flat style chicken breast which still didn’t save it from being dry and tough. They were very stingy on the queso fresco, and since I just bought a quarter round of it, I know how inexpensive it is — no reason to be stingy! The Tijuana street tacos I got with chicken, and I asked for medium salsa/pico. What we got was dry pieces of chicken with nothing but cilantro and onion on it. The street tacos were only mildly better with guac on it. We also got a couple of small bags of chips. NOSALSA/PICO. This is huge — who the hell sends out chips with no SALSA??? All in all, I went here out of desperation, and will never be back here again!

One of the worst dining experiences I ever had. Good thing I took it to go, because if I were at the restaurant everything we ordered would have been sent back. Chicken street tacos were bland and the chicken chewy and dry. Hawaiian Quesada was lacking everything but cheese. They flat out forgot to put the bell peppers and pineapple on it. Nachos cold and flavorless Pollo entomatado — broccoli was steamed and absolutely *not* sautéed and very little of it. Stingy on the Queso Fresco. Rice was soggy and disgusting. Chips in a bag, plain, cold, bland. No salsa on the side. When we asked for some salsa the waitstaff who was helping us replied«I am new here and I don’t know everything we have.» You don’t know if you have salsa? Really? This place should be out of business. Sad when you might be better rolling the dice with Taco Bell than overpaying here.

My family and friends all love this location :] The staff and manager are great! Quick to be seated, grab drinks and bring chips with awesome, fresh salsa and delicious bean dip! Every dish is amazing, the salads, Bertha burrito, tamales and chimichangas are delicious!

Oh my god did I screw up! We went to this place without checking Unilocal first. Big mistake! The place seems very disorganized. We asked how long they been openly said round two years. It seem like maybe two weeks. We ordered tableside guacamole from a young lady who helped us but never got that. A gentleman then came to take our order. They have a full bar but no good whiskey. I ordered the Carnitas my. one daughter ordered ceviche and the other daughter ordered the salmon. My Carnitas was so dry I can hardly chew it. I asked for some hot salsa and they brought me some about five minutes after my food. My daughter who ordered the ceviche said it was all tomatoes. My other daughter enjoyed her salmon. But she did mention that the rice was hard. You would think the waiter would look and see that I none of my Carnitas and ask if anything was okay. I think he knew the answer! I don’t think we’ll be coming back…

Had dinner with my folks at this promising restaurant in Highlands Ranch. This review is based one one visit so may not accurately depict the am restaurant as a whole however it was enough to keep me from coming here ever again. Décor is great and customer service was good. They do give you free chips, salsa, and received beans which is a nice touch. I ordered a michelada. A simple drink but when I received it, it was watered down and not mixed correctly. I didn’t finish even half of it. Dinner portions were comparable to other Mexican restaurants. I ordered the enchiladas de mole. Mole tasted bland and as if it just came out of a jar. Chicken had no flavor or seasoning. Beans and rice were good however. I’d like to give this place the benefit of the doubt but first impressions matter. The food not great, the service is average. I won’t be coming back.

First off Courtney the server bartender was good. The food here is good also. What I don’t understand is the consistency of things. On three previous occasions I’ve asked for their floutas to be made with carnitas instead of chicken and always with some confusion at first and a discussion with the manager, the manager comes out and says no problem. Today, not so much. I get it that you can’t hand roll taquitos for every order which is why I come in early, it was 4:15 with two tables in the building. But then they tell Courtney to tell me that it’s a problem with how the carnitas comes out in the fryer, not true, same consistency as chicken. If you want to charge more for them fine. But don’t send the server out to give an untrue reason. Had the nachos today, they’re OK.

I gave this place three chances, with different options from the menu and, the only thing I can rescue is the good service. First of all, this is not Mexican food, it is some kind of fresh Mex, and not even the tacos(the simplest and one of the best ways to test a Mexican kitchen) were decent. Fish and chicken were overcooked, both tasted as if they had been unfrozen in a rush. The last straw was the mole… Not only was it forgettable, and probably right off a can, but I ended up with food poisoning after eating it. Skip this place.

I thought Carlos Migue’s was a chain restaurant. I was wrong. After dinner I spoke with carlos’ daughter. Family owned Mexican restaurants are better. We found the service to be great the staff very friendly and the atmosphere warm and comfortable. The food was good, but the chili sauce was not as tasty as other local family owned restaurants. Nevertheless, this is a good Mexican restaurant and we will return.

Great meal with the family. Spent quite some time reading their entire menu then struggled to choose just one entrée. Their menu is quite diverse and the food was great. Can’t wait to come back again!

This used to be my favorite mexican food… sadly no more. The delicious seasoning is gone and all that’s left is bland americanized food. So sad

Go during Happy Hour for some great deals. Ceviche is delicious and good for two people to share. The food is fresh and tasty. Service is a little bit slow but worth the wait.

Oh man. Why? I just don’t understand how restaurants survive with horrible service. Pros: –Sat immediately at 6:50PM on a Friday. –Patio seating. –Chips, salsa, & bean dip brought to table almost immediately and tasty. –The server who finally attended to us was trying and seemed nice. –Melon mojito surprisingly yummy. –They comped our drinks. Cons: –20 minutes and no one acknowledged us except for the chips, salsa, & bean dip. –Friend went inside to flag down a server. Server said we weren’t in her area, but she’d be happy to serve us. –Had to then ask for drink menu and water. –Shortly after, bartender showed up to take our order(guess we were in her section). We informed we had just ordered and she brought us flatware, plates, and napkins. –Food was ok, but not special, and overpriced. We got chips & queso and then shared carnitas. –Drinks still hadn’t arrived by time we were almost done eating. We informed server and canceled them. We were brought our drinks shortly thereafter. –Friend’s drink was delivered on the rocks(many, many rocks) when ordered chilled. –We saw the bartender 2 more times during our stay(not at our table). If the patio is her section, they need to make some changes. Yet another disappointment trying to find a good Mexican restaurant close to home.

I’ve seen this chain around and have wanted to try for some time. Stopped by for lunch. Was not busy, was not empty. With a lot of dining options around, I thought nothing of the crowd. The atmosphere and cleanliness were exceptional. The décor was impressive compared to the inexpensive faire. Waitstaff was adequate but not exceptional, but then again, I’m not very demanding. Chips and salsa are served with a side of beans. Salsa was ok. A giant tomato wallowed in the small bowl of salsa pushing out most of anything else. Hard to believe the waitstaff didn’t notice that when it was served, but hey. I ordered the 2 ground beef taco special from the lunch menu. Oi. Not good. Puddles of grease on the plate under 2 stale taco shells was not very appealing. This was frustrating as the toppings looked very appetizing. Little effort in the beans and rice. I did not clean my plate. :-(. As I left, the waitress looked as if to apologize for the experience, but probably has grown tired of the hassle of vocalizing her embarrassment for the establishment to which she is employed.

Great food and drink specials — Carlos Miguel’s in Highland Ranch does a great job at filling the need for a good Mexican restaurant(there are other, but this one seems to be the best). The menu is pretty complete as Mexican places go(which is just about a book). I usually get the enchiladas and am never disappointed. The only plate that has not really impressed me have been the chimichangas. If you hit them during happy hour, you can usually get some pretty good deals. All that said, I have noticed that they seem to be a bit under staffed during the weekends — but your food still comes out pretty quick.

I have eaten here twice. The first time was a couple of years ago and it was good. The second time I went back, the food was bland, the meat tough, and I won’t be going back. I did not even finish my burrito as the meat was not good. I suspect the quality has gone down unfortunately.

First time visit from a coupon mailing. Chips and salsa with bean dip is a good start as you seat down. Ordered appetizer plates of shrimp quesadilla and calamari. Nice atmosphere of the dining area plus great service. The food tastes fresh and plentiful.

Was in the neighborhood and wanted Mexican food for lunch. I ordered a steak burrito and was disappointed. There was very little steak and it was very«bready». The tortilla was thick and too big. Not very flavorful. I’m not coming back.
