The Rock Wood Fired Kitchen

I’ve been here a few times and had a fine experience (hence the 2 stars instead of one) but last night we came in for a very late dinner, around 9, and we were sat in the bar. There were only 2 other parties in the resturant, that I saw. We were able to order in a timely fashion, food was a little slow getting out, no big. But after we were handed out check, our waitress spent time chatting at the bar, went off to the other side of the resturant for something for awhile, came back to the bar a couple times as I tried to flag her down and she didn’t see. Finally after about 25 minutes of waiting, I took the clipboard to the front of the resturant where, I believe she was the bartender, finally helped us cash out. There’s really no reason for leaving the check at a table that long, I know we were chatting but I repeatedly tried to make it obvious we were ready to leave. I’ll revise my review after my next visit, which I can only hope will be a better one.

Stopped because it looked cool and we picked it randomly. Definitely worth it! Burgers were amazing! Everything inside has a rock theme. They have their own IPAs on tap too.

We went there for lunch at NOON. It was empty. There were about 3 tables of customers in the entire place. That is suspicious right there! I had to go looking for someone to seat us then when he did it took 10 minutes before someone came to table. Then it took 10 minutes to get water. Then we waited another 10 minutes to order before we walked out! This is the absolute worst place I have ever been. It was as if there was only one person working there! If you aren’t going to wait on the customers, why is it even open? Seriously, the owner must use this place as a front for something else, because it surely cannot be a legitimate restaurant. UNBELIEVEABLE. So we walked next door to CB Potts and it was wonderful. Good food, great service and it was crowded. Go figure.

Nice outside and ample room inside. The pulled port sandwich is good. Service not bad. Great music, burgers are large and pretty good. Nice and clean restaurant

Great ambiance. Fantastic pizza. Attentive waiters. Great bucket drinks and beers. May need to when on a couple of basic maintenance items like toilet in men’s room & drink menu holders.

Hostess is awesome. Very accommodating. Took home the pizza and desserts will let you know how they taste. But so far my experience is great!

Maybe ok for drinks, but not for pizza. Not a fan of the toppings — got «prosciutto» on mine but didn’t look like any I’ve eaten before. Appeared to be more like ham made to look like prosciutto. Also, menu said topped with mozzarella but what came out was finely shredded cheese from a grocery store bag. Pizza wasn’t hot as if it was pre-​made and then topped to order. We won’t be back.

We just went to The Rock WFK in Highlands Ranch and were the first guests of the day. I ordered the arugula pizza with a side salad (was okay) and my husband ordered the fried chicken plate (which was another story). Three out of the four pieces of chicken were rubbery and inedible. When the waitress came to the table he told her the issue with the chicken and I agreed. Although we didn’t expect a full write off of the chicken, we did expect the price to be reduced or at the very least, a complimentary dessert offered. There was no apology. Nothing. The restaurant had an interesting vibe and the drink menu looked fun. But I must say, we won’t be returning anytime soon.

The third or fourth time we’ve been in and its been a great experience every time! This time was our 4 year Olds birthday celebration (at his request of course! «I want to go to the rock n roll restaurant for birthday dinner!») The Cajun calamari was tasty, the hubby ordered a side salad for the first time and we were surprised to see it had tomato, onion and bell pepper on it, not bad at all! Our 4 year old lives the kids mac and cheese, and I have to admit it’s by far the best lids mac n cheese in town!

Food is pretty good… Evan is a great bartender. What’s with changing the menu all of the time?

Wow! I used to love this place. It was in the top 5 for me for fantastic pizza and atmosphere, until tonight!
The service really put a bad taste in my mouth. What put an even worst taste in my mouth was biting into their pizza. Usually, the food is outstanding, but there must have been a shift change. A bad idea in my opinion, for a Friday night. The dough tasted bad or like it was about to go, and my boneless chicken strips I ordered came in bulk-​which I would never complain about except it was all– breading. I crumbled one of them in my hand to discover a sliver of chicken the size of a green bean.
I would have probably come back (sometimes food is hit or miss) but my server, Kat, ensured that i will never return, nor will I ever recommend anyone to this place based on her performance.
She was slow, unresponsive, inattentive, and clearly did not want to be there. I had to track down another employee to get a refill on my beverage. My wife’s water was filled once. She had to start drinking my water.
Everything to this server was an inconvenience and she tried to very sneakily up sell other items without revealing hidden costs. No integrity.
I am sincerely disappointed and grieve the death of what used to be a great restaraunt.
Ps. The only thing delightful about my experience was: the manager of that particular shift was running around trying to help all his servers. I saw him more than my actual server. Great manager, but that’s not your job…
I won’t be back with me or my family. We used to drive an hour round-​trip to this store. Never again!

Very disappointed

A friend was in town visiting and we decided to try this place. The appetizers are incredible (especially the Nachos) and the bucket drinks are to die for. Our bartender Shaena was FABULOUS and took very good care of us all night,
I’ve been back since then for dinner and had the garlic bread appetizer and their burgers — both were just as incredible as the appetizers the first time.
This is definitely one of my new favorite places! A MUST try!!!

This was the second time I have been to this location. I don’t know why I decided to come back. Upon walking in I was greeted by a disgusting attitude from the hostess, just as I had been before. I asked where my party table was and gave the exact name, she didn’t even bother to look down and told me no in a cold, blank way then told me to «go look». (Keep in mind they were not busy at all). Turns out that luckily they were sitting literally right behind her podium. The largest party and ONLY party there at the moment, not really difficult to forget. She had her phone out and the attitude of a teenaged girl. The waitress was nice this time but the food is not worth the attitude you will inevitably receive from either the hostesses or wait staff. Not to mention the last time I was there the hostesses decided to assume my age and tell me «only 18+ at the bar with an adult». Excuse me? Coming from girls that look and act like they just came from cheerleading practice? Gross. Train your staff to have better customer service skills and professionalism. I’ve never known a place to allow texting over helping customers.
Update: management got back to me and apologized. It’s nice to see that they have genuine concern for their customers. I’m sure I will give it another chance in the future.

Im pretty picky when it comes to pizza, but I must say that if you like thin crust pizza, «The Rock» does a fantastic job with their menu. While you can ‘create your own pizza’ — I highly suggest that you try one of their signature recipes. In addition to pizza, I have ventured to try a few of their pasta dishes and have also been impressed.
You can tell they use high quality ingredients and the prices are very reasonable (starting around $ 10 per entrée).
The service staff is very friendly but I have noticed that they tend to be stretched a bit thin at times — therefore wait times may be a bit long.
TIP: They have an incredible ranch dressing that is great for dipping.

So, I have to start by saying that the service was amazing! We showed up a little late at night and we were greeted promptly at the door. We sat and ordered chips and queso and redeemed our free mozzarella cheese bread. The mozzarella cheese bread came with both sauces, marinara and ranch, which was great since my girlfriend has something personally against marinara. Lol.
My friend and I ordered the deep dish pizza called the «Founder». We added the peppered bacon to it.
Let me start by saying, this pizza was so good. It’s been a while since I had a deep dish pizza but they really did a good job with this. The crust was perfectly crispy and didn’t taste like I was eating a mouthful of grease.
All in all, I can’t wait to come back. There are several items on the menu besides pizza and I want to try some of them.
After a movie at the nearby theatre or just anytime you can, come eat here.

Good pizza with a cool rustic look. There are a lot of pizza places around with thin crust and hand tossed crust but if your looking for a deep dish option this is the place to go. Has a fun new age western feel to it which made me think that this would be a cool biker bar hangout just off a major highway heading towards or coming home from the mountains.
Staff was plentiful and friendly. I came with a group of 25 – 30 along with 15 starving kids in the group. For a group that large, I have to say they did well. Big groups are tough. So it was not a surprise that somethings came out a little slow. But the orders were all correct. Good job!
I give this place 4 stars and not 5 because the bathroom had a very foul smell to it like open drainage to a sewer connection. Easily fixed with ventilation and a good air sanitizer. The one in there was either broken or empty.

I’ve been here so many times since my first check in and this much is true:
The service is awesome EVERY TIME!
The food has constantly met, if not exceeded, my expectations
The Jell-​O shots are mind altering (after a few or more)
I’m a stout/​porter fan and love the Jumping Jack Flash

Me and my boyfriend appreciate the PIZZA here but we decided to get something different and we got not eleven dollars worth of calamari very DISSAPPOINTED we went back so they could give us more food or something they just said sorry. I wish my boyfriend would have at least gotten his large lemonade instead of the small ROCK pizza u lost two customers

Great pizzas, plenty of unique combinations between red and white pizzas. The bang a gong, thunderstruck, and the crazy train are the best pizzas I’ve had there. Can’t go wrong with any of them and remember to add spicy sausage!
Now on to the cons, inside décor is kitschy as hell with awful classic rock on repeat blaring in your ears. And their house beers are really uninteresting. Other than that never had a problem getting a seat in the bar or the check at the end! But definitely prefer to get it to go.

We went to The Rock because my daughter lives nearby and wanted to try it. We had a great server — Addison — who made us feel very welcomed and was very efficient. The menu is huge but she never rushed us and made some good suggestions. We had the family sized Caeser salad that came with really good «pizza dough» rolls. There were 2 orders of French Onion soup for 4 of us. We also got a large pepperoni and green pepper pizza. It could have had more green peppers but it was so good! My husband got a burger and said it was good too — the guacamole and bacon on it looked yummy.
The menu has everything from nachos to a pulled pork sandwich to steaks and of course pizza and it all looked good. The service was perfect. The décor keeps you interested and the music was awesome. I definitely recommend The Rock.
