History
Established in 1911.
The setting of these country cabins is on the edge of a little valley, nestled in the pines, with the mountains and Black Hills National Forest rising directly behind. History abounds the cabins some of which were once on the site of the Harney Peak Tin Mining and Mfg. Co., in the 1880’s. Established in 1911, Pine Rest is one of the few original tourist cabin camps in continuous operation in the Black Hills. With the advent of the automobile in the 1920’s tourism boomed and the location on the road to Mt. Rushmore kept Pine Rest Cabins on the map. Cabins were added as time went on. The current owners, the Johnson family, added a few of their own, and celebrated 20 years at the cabins in April of 2012. They welcome new visitors and enjoy the comradery of many return guests, most of whom still come to see Mt. Rushmore as well as the many other nearbye attractions.

Business Owner
Pine Rest Cabins, one of the oldest cabin courts in the Black Hills was established and in continuous operation since 1911. We purchased the cabins in 1992, raised our children here and and now love visits from our grandson as well. We all love the outdoors and feel fortunate to live in the center of the Black Hills National Forest and at the center of the Mickelson Trail. Pine Rest Cabins is the place we call call home and hopefully a great home away from home for our guests. Welcome. Jan & Steve
