Quite remarkable how little old Hilliard Ohio managed to shame much larger cities in their tribute to those who paid the ultimate price. Twisted and mangled beams from Ground Zero take 2nd stage to the black granite walls inscribed with the names of victims all surrounded by beautiful water features intended to make you give pause and remember. For being on a busy corner intersection it’s quite quiet and well laid out so many can visit while not feeling cramped. Sadly it’s rarely busy which is an unfortunate sign of how quickly we forget. Highly recommended for all ages and can be a remarkable teaching tool for the younger generation.

5 star park with 1 star hospitality and media awareness. All I wanted to do was walk around the small ¼ block park before the political mumbo jumbo… spend some time looking at the sculptures… and the wall of names… and the pool… I was there just before the time of the first plane hitting the towers… and I was told that people could not see the park until after the dedication? Just beyond the picture I took a portable climbing wall for kids was going up… main street was filling with vendor pop ups… 2 blocks or so away a car show was starting… everyone was laughing and joking and turning this day into a carnival??? Very sad… I just went back to the website to check… lots of buttons to donate… purchase a memorial brick… video of the plans… no mention that the park would be closed or that there would be a party downtown. If we have other business in Columbus I might be willing to stop and see it closer… but they won’t get my retail $$.
