It’s probably my fault for not leaving right away when instead of introducing herself the stylist said, «I hope you don’t want a complicated haircut». The thing is, I didn’t. Basically only needed a scissor cut and she botched one side, unable to even blend my sideburns with the rest of my hair. Will not be going back and I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

Walk ins welcome! From out of town for a wedding and us girls wanted our hair done. Shandra our hair stylist did an amazing job. Really friendly staff the manager fixed my bad blending job on my husbans hair for me. I would definitely recommend Bishops!

This used to be a great place and Taylor and Rob always did a wonderful job. I’ve always paid a reasonable price and for the same thing I have done in the past but with the new stylists who seem unsure of what they are doing their manager Will wanted to charge a minimum of $ 40 more then I have ever been charged and that was after negotiating. All he said was everyone else undercharged me so I walked and am going to someone I trust to do my hair at a fair price. I would give a –10 rating if possible.

I came in today to get a trim and partial highlight. All the ladies were so friendly and greeted me as I came in. I have long thick curly hair that I haven’t maintained properly in awhile. I forget the name of the lady who did my hair. She had short hair with blue in it. She was so sweet! I’m very happy with my results. My hair feels so healthy and looks great. I’ll definitely be back! I’ve gotten my hair done other places in the past that were extremely overpriced for the quality of work but bishops gives you what you pay for :) I recommend giving them a chance for all your hair needs.

I always come back. Best for men’s style cuts…
Easy going here. No so busy on off days like Mondays

JMac is amazing. She not only fadeds, colors and styles, she’s an angel. JMac can make miracles happen totally messed up my hair went in to see what she can do. JMac of course fixed it and made me look fly, as usual. Team JMac go she her fellas won’t be let down. Mac for Presisent!!!

My first and last time here. Women are obviously not the target clientele for this shop. The first clue was beverage options — beer or tepid tap water that’s sitting on the counter. The second clue was that they don’t wash your hair even if you ask. They use a spray bottle of water. I have long curly hair so that isn’t really an option. The third clue was the wall of pictures you stare at while getting the cut. I was stuck staring at half naked women and full frontal male nudity. I don’t want to see breasts and penises when I’m getting my hair done. Besides all that, I’d still have given a three rating if everything else went well but it didn’t.
My stylist didn’t know how to take care of curly hair even though she has naturally curly hair. She kept asking questions of the stylist next to her who admitted that she has naturally stick straight hair. During the cut kept I bringing up about washing my hair and she ignored me. When she was done she left me to leave with wet hair that was drying really horribly. You can’t brush out naturally curly hair when it’s wet and think that it’s going to dry looking good. It will have weird waves and be frizzy. I couldn’t tell if it was a good cut or not until I came home and washed my hair. Thankfully it was a good cut but everything else was so horrible that I won’t return.

My husband came in last night for a haircut. He got there at 8:20 & they close at 9. He was turned away because they said it was too late to cut his hair even though there weren’t any clients & THEY CLOSE AT 9. It’s annoying enough that they only take walk ins, but not seeing people in your last hours for a simple haircut is pure laziness.

Went Sunday about 6pm for a buzz. Signed in, got a beer, waited less than 5 min and was in the chair. I was out in 15 minutes. Always friendly, provided feedback and suggestions — a have no reason not to return.

Denied hair cut on my weave because «they don’t cut weaves, wigs, extensions.» The guy was extremely rude when informing me of this so called policy. I had been there before and received excellent service on my natural hair along with very polite people. If that is indeed the policy then it should be said so right when someone walks in. I respect and understand policies, but there was no need for the guy to be so rude and dismissive with me. It made me feel like I was not welcomed in their establishment to begin with.

Worst place ever! If I could this would be a zero star or even negative stars.
I ask for a soft ombré and now I’m just blonde! I spent almost 5 hours and over $ 220 on a cut and color that is not what I asked for!
I loved bishops for their fun and laid back atmosphere but every single time I go there they always mess up my hair! They don’t listen to what I’m asking for!
I did a better job with box dye ombré doing it myself And only ¼ the time. I would never recommend this place unless you want to sit In a chair and watch your hair fall to the ground, and the rest into a style that is completely different from what you asked for.
I told my stylist how people in the past have cut my hair a specific way and it turns out just the way I want it. I also told her the way other people have cut it differently and how I always hate it. So what does she say to me? «well I don’t cut hair that way, so.» and proceeded to cut my hair the way I specifically asked her not to do!
I try to give them a second chance every time I go but I am never satisfied. Plus the lady who cut my hair wold not have any conversation with me, Only with her co worker (who was working on my sisters ombré which also turned out terrible) and used very fowl inappropriate language and talked about going out to bars and drinking all night. VERY unprofessional. It was very uncomfortable. She would also leave when I was waiting with the dye in my hair and then randomly come back, look at it, lift a few pieces, give it a weird look, and walk away for another 10 minutes without saying a single word!
And this is all just the last time I went. Other times my hair comes out completely unevenly cut and not what I ask for. It’s very annoying and I will never be going there again. EVER.

Cool atmosphere. However, $ 30 to shave my head?

Stacy is a miracle worker. Seriously.
A week ago, I got my hair done somewhere else and not only did the guy completely fry it, but half of my head looked like I had a bowl cut. It was bad.
My roommate recommended that I went over to Bishops and see if Stacy could fix it, so I decided to give it a shot.
I have literally never been SO happy with a haircut. Stacy did such an amazing job. My previous haircut was so bad that I actually cried over it, but now I feel like a completely different person.
She did a deep condition on it as well, and my hair went from feeling gross and fried to feeling so much healthier just from one appointment. She dyed my hair without burning my scalp (something the guy at the last place I went couldn’t manage to do), and she made my hair look absolutely incredible.
I’ve been trying to explain to stylists how I wanted my bangs cut for years now and Stacy was the first person to give me EXACTLY what I asked for. My hair is thick and difficult, but Stacy did a fantastic job with it.

My husband just came home with the worst hair cut of his life! His hair was a few inches long on the top of his head. He said «A little off the top and trim the sides» like he always says. He came home looking like a Cha Cha Cha Chia potato head! He said the razer went across the top of his head too fast for him to protest, and then it was too late. Common sense tells you that if he had long hair he isn’t asking for a buzz cut! A half inch off, doesn’t mean chop it down to a half inch! Thank God for hats! Then, they actually charged him for this hack job! I can’t believe he paid. Unbelievable.

I agree with Dan N. I like these guys, too. I like the rockstar flavor of the magazine cutouts on the walls. The art and hospitality (they offer you beer! it’s Miller, though, so I decline) is a great primer for having fun with your hair like a teenager with attitude.
Conversely, the reviews here primed me for low expectations. After playing phone tag with my regular stylist, I gave up and came here because it’s convenient. So convenient. And I only needed a bangs trim.
Taylor (who also has bangs) did a great job and cut conservatively until I was satisfied with the length. She was a good listener and nice person.
I still can’t in good conscience give this place 5 stars. It lacks that je-​né-​sais-​quoi element of a salon I’d go to every time without hesitation. I feel the low-​star experiences of other Unilocalers haunting this salon. I think that missing element is a genuine love of styling hair. But that’s Hillsboro for you: chain places just going through the motions, just getting it done without being fully passionate about the work. I can’t fault them though, they were adequate, and I have good bangs.

Okay, so, at one point or another, all of us (or MOST all of us anyway) are going to need to dial back the hair a few months.
I’m a forty-​something mostly-​business, wife-​and-​two-​kids, non-​hipster. In fact, I’m so non-​hipster that I don’t even really know what hipster means, which could mean that I am one for all I know.
It’s generally unusual to find me in one of those places where everyone has hair colors picked at random from shades found in a rainbow, more ink than not, and holes in their ears a reasonably-​well-​endowed golf ball could fit through.
But here you’ll find me, about once every other month, getting a haircut. It would seem I’m more the upscale barber-​shop type. Nah, I like these guys.
The people here are genuinely nice, adorned in adventurous fashion, and know EXACTLY what styles are «today». They’re in it. And you know, they do my «not-​so-​adventurous, business, layered, short in the back» perfectly every time. The conversation is great. The people are great, and while I generally don’t drink anything short of high-​dollar Portland micros, they’re happy to offer a swill… er…beer while you wait (I generally decline, but I appreciate the gesture anyway).
They’re not expensive, and they’re FAST! Typically, I can walk in, get my name in the book, wait, get a haircut, pay and I’m back on the road with enough time left for a decent sandwich on my one-​hour lunch break.
They’re located all over the place. I’m usually at the Orenco Station shop as it’s closest to home. They do a great job and I’ll be back again and again.

The first time we visited, my daughter got a fantastic cut and color. She got compliments on it all the time, and it was exactly what she wanted.
The second time we visited, wanted to go black with purple highlights. It looked great when we left, but the color just slid off her hair. For weeks, every time she took a shower she came out slightly blue. We figured it was just that the chemicals in that color didn’t like her hair. It happens. After about a month, she had red (the remains of the last color) with bright purple streaks. She’s 17, it’s a look.
While we were there, her step dad got a cut since he was starting a new job the next day. He asked for a simple trim, not too short in the back since he has some serious cowlicks. The stylist thought he wasn’t serious, and cut it short anyhow. Thankfully he knows his way with hair products so he didn’t start a new job looking like Alfalfa.
The third time we went, we got in at 3:30 on a Sunday and were told the wait would be ~30 minutes. She really wanted to get her hair done for back to school, so we settled in on the very hard benches. An hour later, it was finally her turn. The stylist looked at the list, saw that she wanted color, and told us that the cutoff for color on Sundays was 4:00. We were sent away.
I totally understand that color takes time. I do. However — when we got there, we should have been told that we were 30 minutes away from the cutoff so there was a chance we wouldn’t be seen. Each time a stylist checked the list, s/​he could have seen that there was a color waiting and either bumped her up or let us know the wait was in vain. One glance at my daughter would have told them she was waiting for color (her hair is half brunette/​half purple!). Finally, the stylist who sent us away with very sore butts from those benches could have offered us a discount for coming back the next day.
Instead, we made an appointment at a non-​chain salon that is closer to our house and she got exactly what she wanted for $ 30 less than Bishops charged us the previous two times.
We won’t be going back. (also, the beer is Coors. no thanks).

I was pretty excited when this Bishops location opened up so close to my work. I’ve been coming here for my haircuts ever since it opened, and I’ve been pleased with my experiences. Every haircut is a little different, since usually it’s usually a different person each time, but I’ve never really had a bad cut since I’m pretty clear about what I want.
Since I have a short hair, I get a trim every 6 weeks or so, so I make good use of the Bishops frequent haircut card where after something like 10 haircuts, you get one free!

Oh heeeeeeeeeeeellsnaw.
I went here a few months ago, never to return, due to the absolute carelessness of the gals there. I asked for a trim and layers. Pointed to exactly where I wanted them and said «I would like all of my layers to be long, none of them above my shoulders.»
The first cut was at my shoulders and I lost almost 6 inches of hair. I think the layers would’ve ended up being bangs. I pretended it was no big deal and that hair just grows back, but FUCK YOU — that takes time! With curly hair, it’s not easy.
And for some reason, my boyfriend decided to go here on his way home from work this past week and they gave him the worst haircut I have ever seen. EVER. (Pics coming)
They shaved 2 inches of his hair off the back of his neck instead of just trimming it so it makes a straight, neat line. You know, like EVERY other hair cutting place does.
Not to mention, they cut it completely jagged. I mean, there are 4 different lengths.
We can both get better haircuts for $ 7 these days.
Quit cutting hair when you’re fucking baked and wasted off your ass. Also, quit touching my hair right after your stinky smoke break without even washing your hands. I don’t want to smell your tobacco on my hair after I leave. I don’t want it in my face either.

A solid three — definitely not my top Bishop’s location which sucks because it’s the closest.
I thought it’d be slow on a Thursday, but NOPE. At least a 45 minute wait, but that’s OK. Here’s what irritated me — no offer of a beer. Seriously? That’s a thing for Bishops and not even offered. One hairstylist would offer it to each of her clients but I saw one person offered a beer and that was it… not cool. That’s a «thing» about Bishops and didn’t happen.
Otherwise the haircut was quick, as I wished and Will didn’t pressure me to buy product and that’s a plus. I HATE THAT. If I want something, I’ll let YOU know, don’t force it on me. Thankfully, Will read that and didn’t push.
So, let’s fix this beer thing. I know it sounds stupid but I could go to other places for haircuts but that’s kind of a draw here.
