Garden Frog Nursery

What a great nursery and Kourosh, the owner is so nice and knowledgeable. They came out for a landscape consult and made suggestions but never pressured. They then came out and nicely put in the bushes and trees and gave me tips on how to keep everything from dying. Our yard looks great and we finally have something we can be proud of without busting bank!

I would NEVER have found this place. I Unilocaled nurseries in Hillsboro because my husband did not want to drive to Portland Nursery one Sunday and we are so very happy that we did! We visited and spent an hour or so being walked around by a very knowledgable employee. We decided before we left to have the owner, Kourosh, come out to our house for some guidance. He came out and walked around with us asking what we were looking for and getting an idea of what we might like. The next week he asked us to stop by the Nursery so he could show us some plants he thought might work. We had a blank slate so the following week he brought about 100 plants and set them out so we could see them in the yard, walk through and just point and say yes, no, yes… Two weeks later we have our own personal park in our backyard. I cannot say enough about how beautiful everything looks. Kourosh added a drip system, moved sprinkler heads, created a dry creek bed, and took the time to redo the existing drainage system so it would be more efficient — a huge difference having an engineer work on it as opposed to a landscaper! All the little extras are paying off. Kourosh has taken the time to teach us how to care for the new and, the nearly dead, existing plants which we thought we would have to be replaced next. All in all a great experience. Kourosh clearly loves what he does and treats your yard as his own. I highly recommend Garden Frog Nursery.

Tucked in across from Lowes, I drove past it for two years before finally stopping in. In a nutshell: each person working there has specialized knowledge of horticulture & botany. They can help you plan your landscaping, help you with color, type of soil, etc. I have now landscaped my entire yard with perennials, shrubs and several trees purchased here. OH! They also helped me get away from chemically treating garden pests and diseases so that I know have a completely natural yard (and fewer pests, diseases and fungus problems then I had using chemicals). Fabulous place.

Good selection, knowledgeable staff. I don’t know much about gardening or landscaping so I don’t mind paying a few extra bucks to get help, which their staff always seems to be happy to give.

I bought four dianthus plants and two of them died right away, as the roots had mold on them. They were not cheap either. Would not go back.

Great place to get some new plants. But when I went I went through the whole place wondering if anyone worked there or if they were even open. I went through the whole place before someone said hi and if we needed helped. There was a lot of employees working but I don’t think any speak English that I ran into. But once I got help they were wonderful and had so much information that was very helpful. But when I was leaving I noticed they didn’t have the OPEN sign on in front of the place but their limited parking lot was full of customers. They need to make sure it is on because when we got there the gate was open and no customers around to be found and no one parked in the parking lot. But when I read their hours they were open. So not sure about making money during business hours with the sign off. Not smart.

Best nursery that I’ve ever been to in my life. The owner used to work for Intel and left to follow his dream with this nursery! The guy is seriously knowledgable and (no joke) taught me everything I know about caring for trees and other plants. My wife and I have been loyal customers here since our first visit nearly three years ago. We’ve bought cherry, almond, persimmon, fig, and mulberry trees here as well as some shrubbery. Every time we buy something new, the owner walks us through when to plant it and how to take care of it. He always has a smile on his face, too. Go here!

Absolutely love this place. They have a great selection of outdoor plants (and a few for indoors as well). The real bonus for me was the helpfulness of the staff: on the day we went in a nice lady (forget her name) spent close to an hour discussing our needs and options for landscaping – since we are new homeowners and also new to the Portland area, we had tons of questions about what would and wouldn’t work for our yard. She even had us draw out a sketch of our backyard and went through plant options that would work for our space and lighting conditions. We walked away with two hydrangea bushes and several lettuces for our garden, all for a reasonable price. Avoid Lowe’s/Home Depot and support this great small business instead.

When I want to spend the money to guarantee a great plant, Garden Frog is my go-​to nursery! My husband and I have very limited gardening experience, but after talking to Kourosh (the owner), we feel confident that our purchases there will be money well spent. He walked us around the entire nursery to show us all different options in deciduous trees and gave us a «crash course» in Japanese maple care.
All the plants here are very well cared-​for. They are therefore more expensive than your average Lowe’s/Home Depot crop. You are paying for excellent quality plants, as well as great knowledge from the staff, and above-​average customer service.

This nursery I have driven by countless times and finally decided to give it a go. Now that I have it will be on my permanent drop by list each season. I got to nurseries based on several different things. The first is selection — if all nurseries had the same stock then I would simply go to the one with the best plants at the most reasonable price. This nursery had a great selection of plants I have not seen at other centers. I was astounded walking around and gazing at the prices as well since they did not overcharge for things you simply cannot get at other nurseries like many places do. Some of their more common items seemed to go for much less for better plants than other places as well which was impressive. I will say that you should definitely check the selection here for clematis and hosta since they had varieties I have never seen elsewhere! The setup is really nice too — you are right on TV Hwy but you feel like you stepped into a garden oasis with the plant arrangements.
So after deciding on a perennial fuschia, heuchera and a stunning almond tree (no joke — they have ALMOND TREES!) I take my purchases up to be greeted by the owner who gives me garden advice… as in piles of amazingly useful information and genuinely wanting to help me while taking her time to have an actual discussion. Wow, I was just blown away.

Cute little nursery. Had most everything I needed: Rosemary, berry nets, and plant supports. I couldn’t find just the right mint though (I’m picky because I use it for mint juleps) so they ended up giving me a free one just to try out.
It’s a very attractive place. Well laid-​out and the staff are friendly, knowledgable, and efficient. (The guy who waited on me found things quickly while my hungry 3-​yr-​old whined.)
