German Autowerks

These guys provided me with outstanding and fast service when no one else in town would. I had a simple problem that everyone else wouldn’t even look at for at least a week. German Autowerks however, made an exception and got me in quickly.
They’re obviously smart enough to see a simple-​fix problem and get the customer back on the road instead of making them book an appointment over a week out.
The price was very reasonable too and the receptionist was very smiley and friendly.

The receptionist, my guess, is also the owner. The way she does business is untrustworthy. My husband and I work for a big company nearby. The first time we took our car in and asked if they give company discounts. She started to tell us no. Her husband walks in and said yes. This time around, we asked her again. She tells us «to be honest, I’ve worked for that same company for 14 years. You guys make a lot of money. I only give out the discounts to retirees who can’t afford to pay.» I can respect that. But how does she know that we’re not on a one income and have a sick child to care for? If we were rich, we’d be driving a newer car than the one we took in for them to fix. Unprofessional. It almost seem like she wasn’t going to honor the 10% discount they posted on their website. I just found out they replaced the brake rotor without letting us know before hand. Yeah, not coming back. By the way, it’s stupid of them to not give the big company discounts. We know so many people at our company and we can’t and won’t recommend them.

I have a VW Jetta and moved here from Bend looking for a Mechanic and tried a cpl of places before I found these Guys. Debbie is knowledgeable and friendly. The entire crew were really nice and I felt at home there. I am pleased to know I have somewhere I can go I feel I can trust. Their are many years of experience here and I feel comfortable as a Woman to have somewhere to take my baby :) They don’t do any repairs before they call you.

I had an appt this morning called in to see how long it would take to look at the issue, the guy on the phone said his name was Jason, but sounded like he made that name up, acted like I was inconveniencing him by calling, last week the person I talked to who sounded like him but was nicer said they wouldn’t charge to see if in fact the oil filter housing was leaking I wanted to verify today before I came in that was in fact the case and the guy today is like we don’t usually look at things for free, then said I will have the owner call you and just shoved me off to no where land, I told him I thought he was being rude and he said oh well. Honestly I would rather be treated professional and pay double than use these guys after this. EXTREMELY unprofessional and rude is all I can say.

This place a few years ago used to be decent. Do yourself a favor and avoid bringing your Mercedes here. Completely untrained, unprofessional service. They might be okay working on old non computerized cars. But nothing newer.
They are not detailed oriented. They don’t stand behind any repairs they do.

This is where i will be taking my VW from now on. I had been going to a dealership service dept and they kept making me pay more and more money and never fixing the problem. I was happy to find German Autowerks… Bill was very friendly and honest and helped trouble shoot the problem. Instead of paying $ 1000 at the other shop, it cost me only $ 200 to fix and no problems since. Bill is easy going and very friendly.

3^rd times a charm. Our 2006VW Bug which had a hot engine light blink and bing at us when the engine was ice cold kept going off when you started it. The story goes they say it was 1^st, the sensor, (nope)2^nd time, then the cap leaked,(nope), and now needs a $ 600 new radiator because of a leak (nope) because guess what, there was no leak. I checked the level of the coolant right before I left, and it was topped off and full!!! LIARS.
Our garage never had a drop on the floor. It never leaked.
The place is a dirty hole and leave it to Bill at the front to give you his grumpy and sad Left Wing take on the world. I couldn’t wait to leave. Waiting area is tiny and stuffy. It’s a hard to find and shady location.
My bridge was burned when I caught them in a lie.
I really do hope German Autowerks reads this for their own benefit and cleans up their act.
They can change oil, but the dropped the ball on troubleshooting by just finding a way to shut us down and make us pay more.
We dealt with Alfredo the «mechanic» and Bill the old man rddb grump.
3^rd trip there for the same problem and NO help! Jerks.

Steve is very straightforward and budget understanding. And, he’s a friendly, happy guy.
The waiting room isn’t awful, but it’s also not really family friendly. However, there is a Starbucks 2 buildings down, so if you’re going to take your car in and wait, take your laptop there!
The most important part is that their technicians understand German automobiles and are *aaahhh-​mazing*! Our car went in for an oil change, and came out «repaired» — another shop told us we needed $ 1000’s put into it because this and that was wrong (thus the ticking). Turns out there was an issue with removing the oil filter … so we can only assume that the last shop skipped that challenge and was going for our wallet because once the oil had a chance to move around in the engine and get cleaned out, it’s not ticking anymore.
We went in with a coupon from the Hillsboro Argus … smoking deal!
