Platform 14

Since my wife and I had moved in almost 4 months ago, our experience here has been almost excellent. Our one bedroom apartment needed a couple of repairs, but nothing major and the maintenance personnel was able to fix it within a day or two. We had to get one of our garage remotes fixed a couple times before they ordered us a new one. Since then it has worked flawlessly.
I notice there are complaints from past reviews that really should not be held against the apartment building. 1) The noise level — we live near a taphouse and other restaurants. Of course there’s gonna be drunk, loud, obnoxious people at night. It’s kinda like living downtown. Should’ve thought about that before they moved in. 2) The price of rent — yes it is expensive, but so are the other apartments around here. This area is minutes away from the main Intel campus as well as other Intel locations. 3) Dog poop on the ground — Every apartment I’ve ever lived at has always had tenants who are too freaking lazy to pick up their dog crap. I do agree that the staff needs to assess this problem, but to me it is expected that stuff like this would happen. It’s the pet owner’s responsibility to keep this community clean. If they can’t do something that simple, then they shouldn’t be allowed to have a pet. Especially, when there are poop bags and trash around all the buildings and parks.
But other than that, living here has been a great experience so far. The staff have been really helpful. Much thanks to Genesis Castro. She has been nothing but very helpful from the time we walked in searching for an apartment. Unfortunately, she has moved up in the company and is no longer a staff member in this location. Also, living in a location where restaurants, markets, and other businesses are within walking distance is a huge plus. The coolest feature is the skydeck where tenants can have parties, hangout, and bbq on a hot day. This place has it’s flaws, but I still give it 5 stars. If you’re looking for a place that’s quiet and peaceful, then this location is not for you.

So limits how much I can type so let me just paraphrase, I have emails, videos, pictures, and phone recordings with staff if you want any more info before renting at Platform 14 or any Holland property.
— 3 am SWAT raids across the street for known drug dealers and gang members, had police with machine guns outside when I came out of apartment.
–I have been threatened on 6 separate occasions from residents, or customers of the bar here, and someone tried to follow me back into my apartment and assault me, which the onsite staff took 4 days to respond to
–lots of drunk drivers from bar, hit and runs on cars they back into
–Major noise issues from the parties, the bar, and the trash, they come for the trash 3 times a week and its at 7 am
–They have gone through seven employees in their office in the last 18 months and not one person lasted more than 6 months and one only lasted a week, so everytime you have a issue and they go to address it, soon they will be gone and you can start all over again
–Faulty elevator which I got stuck in after reporting issues for 3 months that didn’t get fixed. I have extreme claustrophobia and their response to this was «at least it was only a few minutes»
–Poop everywhere from dog
–Restaurant doesn’t clean out its grease traps=apartment smells like sewer for a week
–Major issues with the grounds
–People like to run up the hallways drunk, and puke in them, you need to put in a request to have it cleaned up
–No parking, ever, oh you can pay for parking if you want
–Major issues with parties with 20 – 30 people on the skydeck, fighting, yelling, dancing, carrying on till 2 am
–Security is unresponsive just call the police
–rent increase is insane
–Called and emailed main Holland office including the president, ZERO response.

I moved in a year ago. I will be moving out due to the loud party atmosphere. One particular new resident gets over-​served daily at the tap house downstairs and spends hours screaming complete with party howls. She was the direct reason no smoking signs have gone up downstairs, yet continues to smoke and pitch butts all over the sidewalk and grass area. Smoke fills my apartment along with sounds of a college frat house. I pay an insane amount of money for a tiny apartment and choose to leave every weekend to camp so I don’t have to listen to drunken nonsense. I thought the sky deck would be a lovely and quiet oasis, but has also been over run with the same behavior. What was once a great quiet neighborhood has now turned into party central. I feel for anyone in a lease now there with kids.
As for the apartment itself, it has nice upgrades, but I have been told multiple issues just ‘can’t be fixed’. That includes a shower that leaks when you’re filling a bathtub (it came with rubber bands wrapped around it — classy) and a horrible creaking noise when you stand in the tub. I was told ‘they all do that’.
Orenco is a nice area where you can walk for groceries and food, so I look forward to living in a new space in the area.
As for the staff, I really like John in the leasing office. He has always been very helpful and professional.

Platform 14 has the most expensive apartments in Hillsboro. They overcharge you, but the leasing office is never helpful when you have an issue. Lindsey Schallberger is very disrespectful, never listens to your problem or try to give you solution, instead she complains back to you that she can do nothing. Try to avoid renting apartments from Platform 14, horrible customer care and overly expensive. They also do not let you know if you had paid extra they hold your money without giving you notice.

Worst ever leasing and living experience. No help, interaction of the managers here. Even prior to the end of the term, no eligible reminder was given or even a phone call to terminate contract, which automatically renews and ends up ripping you off for another extra month. Moreover, did not get an assigned parking spot, had to street park and it sucked big times! They tend to come up with meaningless little events where they should of focused more on the rights and helping each resident. The construction starts very early, you will hear the loud racket every morning, finding it extremely difficult to go to get a good sleep. All in all, this is a place I would never come back for there are far better places you can rent around here. Do not get yourself into this careless and irresponsible community, you deserve better!

Loud, noisy neighbors and their constantly-​barking dogs. Less than helpful management; complaints go unheard & ignored.
There are much better places to live!
Oh, and don’t forget to ask the management why the fire alarm goes off several times each week at all hours of the day & night!!!
BTW, the old, loud garbage truck comes at 6:45am on Mondays & Wednesdays… sometimes earlier. On other days it comes in the afternoon. Why can’t it come in the afternoon on all days??? Good luck with trying to get some sleep in the morning.

Platform 14 is by far the worst apartment living experience I’ve ever had. Landlord refuses to enforce quiet hours and forces the tenants to confront fellow tenants regarding noise issues. Landlord refuses to hold businesses on first floor of the building to any noise standard. I got more sleep and relaxation in my college dorm room than I’ve gotten at Platform 14. And believe it or not, I’ve seen more vomit on the floors and on the sidewalks at Platform 14 that I ever saw in a dorm room. Rent price is also ridiculous.

We were looking all over the area (including Portland) for the best apartment for the rent that I was paying, and Platform 14 apartments was the one that I picked. I believe It’s the newest apartment complex in the Orenco Station area. There’s a lightrail station right there that takes you to Portland. Every Sunday, there’s a Farmer’s Market just down the street, and it’s really nice. You’re within walking distance from pretty much everything: the barber shops, the restaurants, the grocery stores, and the dry cleaners. You can also create an online account, so you can also sell your stuff to and buy stuff from the people who live in the complex. They will inform you of social events too. On the skydeck, you can pick vegetables, plant your own vegetables, and on a nice day, you can barbecue outside. I lived on the 2^nd floor across the skydeck (which gives you access to free wifi), and I never had to buy internet or cable tv. You can also use the pool, hot tub, and business center at an adjacent apartment complex because Platform 14 residences are allowed to use them. If you work at Intel’s Hawthorn Farm’s Campus, you can walk to work. If that is not enough, they give free coffee in the morning before you go to work, so you do not even need to buy a coffee maker. Sometimes, there’s also food there. Although it really does not matter, there is a fairly diverse population of people living there in terms of age, so it’s not heavily concentrated in the old people. Don’t get intimidated by the price, because it is well worth what you’re paying. I was paying about $ 1/​square foot for a large studio that had a nice view. Coming from Chicago, you’ll never find this deal in Chicago, nor in another big city like Washington DC or New York City. If you ever end up moving out, you can get someone to inspect the room so you don’t get surprised. Everyone who works there is really nice too, and everyone who lives there seems really happy.

In my opinion, Orenco Station is emerging as a one of the best places in Hillsboro. Lots of new places are being built in this area and the walkability score is definitely going up. Much of what you need is within a 10 minute stroll, or a 5 minute car ride. I had to get away from Portland traffic on 26, so now I enjoy a very pleasant, traffic free commute to work.
Platform 14 is host to a lot of these new businesses such as a new pub, bike shop, and a frozen yogurt shop (so far). These are obviously on the ground floor, along with some Platform 14 studios made for running a business out of.
The three floors above this is where the bulk of apartments are, and behind the building is parking and the awesome 8,000sqft «Sky Deck», which is host to patio furniture, fire places, a TV and mini bar, and chairs you can lay down and tan on.
The place is new as of fall ’12 and the construction is pretty good. The only thing lacking is AC. But if you close the blinds and turn on the ceiling fans it’s fine on those hot days, even on the 4^th floor. The place actually feel like a Hotel. You won’t see any cement walls on the way to your apartment, just an quick elevator ride and a long, elegantly styled hallway.
My experience with the staff here has been excellent. They are very helpful and quick to resolve any issues.
