Providence Immediate Care-Tanasbourne

Being sick sucks… this place does not. They see you fast… they treat you fast. You won’t enjoy your time here… if you do, you might want to go visit a doctor to get that checked out. I have always gotten great service here over the course of 4 or 5 years.

Don’t expect to be taken seriously if you have pain that they don’t think you have. I refuse to go there after having been shamed and humiliated by some fat guy with white hair and rancid breath, accusing me of just wanting pain medication when I complained of neck problems, and just needed a PT referral. The disc in my neck between c-​5/​c-​6 was almost nonexistent, and required a discectomy and fusion. which I received too many years later because I was never taken seriously, and therefore never referred to anyone who could actually help me. Save your time and money for doctors who aren’t complete a**holes, and go somewhere else.

The hours listed are incorrect. They are open 7 am-​8 pm only. Other than that, pretty good care.

What a waste of time first time i went thier they put five people ahead of 5 years old son and three years old daughter 2^nd time gave me the wrong medicin dont waste your time thier this place is a joke stay far as you can go to st vincent instead they treat thier guest right this place should be shut down and they should not transfer anyone who works thier they all need better training

After a 45 minute wait feeling awful with strep throat yesterday, I was finally seen (with my 4 year old daughter) and the doctor repeats at least three questions during her verbal exam — she is obviously not paying attention to the fact that I JUST answered that question. My strep test came back negative, but my daughter’s came back positive that afternoon at Kaiser (which is a GREAT clinic). The doctor here at Providence told me that she would go ahead and write me a prescription for an antibiotic if my daughter’s test was positive because I likely had a false negative, since we clearly had the same illness. I called back requesting the prescription, waited four hours with no response, then called again and they said that it can take 12 – 24 hours for them to respond to «notes.» That is completely unacceptable. I told them that I live with an immuno-​compromised individual and that I can’t just sit around exposing that individual to strep until this so-​called «immediate» care decides they have time to write a prescription 24 hours later. SO FRUSTRATED right now with their incompetency. DON’T GO HERE!

It is amazing that last year I was sitting in the waiting room for an injury I sustained and exactly a year later, I am in the same waiting room but for my S.O. who injured himself while bike riding. We arrived to a quiet and clean lobby. The front desk gal was nice and the check in process was quick and efficient. Judging from the amount of people in the waiting room, we were settled in for a long wait but it wasn’t very long.
We were taken to an exam room, he was checked by a nurse and then a physician assistant. Both made me feel like he was in capable hands. I thought the wait between each medical personnel was normal. There were no needless testing or exams done. I felt that they were very professional and expressed the right about of concern and compassion.
We left the clinic with a work note, a prescription, and a chart summary about what was discussed. The injury looked worst than it actually was and I am glad that they were able to give us that reassurance.

Nobody likes going to the doctor, but what a great experience. I had to come in because I was in so much pain I couldn’t even stand straight. The check in was quick and efficient, the receptionist was very professional and caring. I was called in less than 5 minutes later.
The Medical Assistant was very sweet and got everything she needed quickly so the doctor could come in. The doctor was in shortly after (Dr. Melina) and I couldn’t have been happier with the care I received, the first treatment didn’t work as well as we had hoped, so he immediately ordered an X-​ray. The X-​ray technician, Sue, was yet another sweet and caring woman, and got all the pictures she needed taken vary quickly. I ended up needing IV fluids, and both nurses who came in were great. I was basically in and out of consciousness by this point, but I remember one of the nurses and the medical assistant coming to check on me regularly.
Finally, the doctor came back in and decided it was best for me to rest at home, as they had done what they could there, and now it just a matter of waiting it out. He let me know he’d be there next day between 10 and 10 in case the pain didn’t go away and I needed to be seen again. I wish I could remember the names of the MA and both Nurses, since they definitely deserve some kudos, as Dr. Melina and Sue do. I was there for a total of 4 hours, and was never left in my room by myself without someone checking in every 10 minutes or so.
From the moment I got there, till I left, everyone was genuinely caring, I’ll definitely be coming here again whenever needed. I am very grateful for their help.

Was in horrific pain, so husband took me to this care center. WORST experience EVER.
Why do we always get put in a tiny room, where it takes FOREVER to see someone. It is a stress to wonder if they forgot about you!
ANYWAY, the Doc took one peek at my head and jumps back like I am a Rabid dog, and screams out «YOU have Shingles».
She walks out of the room, and never came back. Her nurse popped her head in the door and say I was quarantined until it was gone.
That’s it. No information, no ideas how to ease the pain, no labs, nothing.
A week later I get a bill for almost $ 400.00.
What a Freakin ripoff

We have never had anything but good experiences here. The front desk people, the med assistants, the nurses and the doctors have all been totally professional, nice, and helpful.
They are open 7am till 11pm. Every day. Win.
They can do x rays. Win.

This last year or two for my family they’ve treated us for when a car hit my kid’s dad on his bike, a soccer ball hit my kid’s eyeball during the game, a number of broken bones and sprains, and a couple ear infections and upper respiratory infections. Oh and hives. Oh and stomach aches.
They dont do ultrasound. Fyi.
This past weekend Princess hurt her arm at the beach. I just looked at her face and I knew. Broken.
This is not our first rodeo, cowpokes.
Rather than do the unknown ER at Lincoln City’s hospital I did elevation, ice, and ibuprofen that night and drove her right to Providence on Sunday. The nurse remembered us from the eyeball thing. She was super friendly
We need our punchcard now.
We went back after our plastic bag over the splint had an epic fail in the shower. 9:00 on a Tuesday night. We had a forty minute wait but they kindly helped us establish what was dry and what was not, replacing the wet bits. I was cranky at the start (my bag failed) but they were really kind and didnt make me feel stupid at all which I appreciated.
Shes only 11. I’m sure we will be back.

We found our way into the IC coming back from the beach, poor baby got pink eye :(
We normally go to The Gateway IC but this was more convenient for the drive home.
The facility is very nice. Having to go to Immediate Care can be stressful, so atmosphere is important. There were 4 young woman working the reception and we were helped immediately.
After checking my son in, i asked to have a room so i could breastfeed and they accommodated me immediately. We were roomed as soon as I was done feeding my son. The RN was very sweet with my son. She told us there was a pediatrician on staff that day but if the wait was going to be too long for us, she’d have another provider see him. Within 5min the pediatrician was in there helping us. His name is Dr. Sweeney and he is a wonderful pediatrician!
We were in and out within 30min, not counting my time feeding my son! Great experience!

If I could give 5 stars to just the Dr I saw and the primary nurse that worked with him, I would! They were amazing. But, it’s the overall experience that counts and the reception staff and initial intake nurse I saw were sub par. And by sub par, I mean horrifying.
Gallstones. Yep, I had ‘em, but I didn’t know it. One August morning at 7am, I could NOT stop vomiting. My husband drove me to this Immediate Care facility, since I generally go to Providence facilities.
The Bad: The reception staff was not too rude to me, but was AMAZINGLY rude to the poor guy who got there before me. He was burned on his arm by cooking oil and they showed him no compassion even though it was apparent that he was in a great deal of pain. The poor guy kept having to go outside during his wait because the temperature in the building was causing him more pain. The receptionist insisted that he fill out paperwork in the building — but was NOT nice about it. She acted as though this was a HUGE inconvenience for her. Now. You could say that I don’t know what it’s like to be a receptionist in a place like that, but you’d be wrong. I’ve been there. And I know how easy it is to show compassion.
My intake nurse — I don’t know what her name was, but she had short, curly brown hair. She was awful. I was in a LOT of pain and she didn’t care. Seriously. Did NOT care. Then she told me that I should have gone to the ER, that they probably wouldn’t be able to help me at all. That was said in a very accusatory, «You’re wasting my time» manner. It was amazing. Seriously, why go into nursing if you don’t care about people? If I hadn’t been so desperate for help, I would have complained right then.
The Good: The Dr who saw me, Dr. Peng, was AWESOME. He went out of his way to make sure I was taken care of. He called around to different imaging facilities to find an appointment for an ultrasound, booked the ultrasound, and gave me some sort of miracle medication that made me stop vomiting. He explained what was happening in a clear, but NOT condescending way. He actually patted my back while I was vomiting! What?! A doctor who CARES?! It was awesome. Well… not the vomiting, but you get the idea.
The nurse that worked with Dr. Peng was also awesome. She drew my blood, gave me meds, helped me get everything together to head out to the imaging facility. She was very nice and showed empathy.
We’re all just people here. We’re all doing the best we can. When we come to you for help, try to step outside of your problems and help us with ours.

I went here one Sunday because I ran out if a medication on Friday and was having withdrawal symptoms. The dr I saw made me feel like a criminal. He was rude, unfriendly and uncaring. In won’t return and uneven have providence insurance. Horrible experience here. Go elsewhere. Please.

As another reviewer stated, I wish I could give less than one review! My was seen in emergency the previous day. We called emergency to see if they could prescribe him medication for the pain he was in. St. Vincent’s emergency instructed that he either go back to emergency or go to Urgent Care. We opted for Urgent Care for a cost reason. Upon check in and being in the room my son was seen by Dr. Carl Melina who racially profiled my son and told him that he would not prescribe my son medication because my son was a gang member and might sell the meds! Yes you read it correctly! This was all based on the fact of my son’s tattoos. Mind you my son was just seen no more than two weeks ago in the Urgent Care for a separate incident for a reaction he had! To make matters worse there was a rent a cop by the name of Jeremiah who thought he would exercise his authority! He harassed us and told me he would call the police thinking he would scare us! Well I told him to go ahead, better yet I called the police! The doctor’s notes acknowledged that my son was in pain yet he still denied him service. My son is not a gang member nor has been affiliated with any gang members. He holds a full time job and has worked previously in the medical field for an Anesthesiologist for three years at Providence Portland as the Front Desk Receptionist until the doctor moved her office! Please do not allow yourself to be serviced here if you can avoid it! They are prejudice!

If I could, I’d give this place a minus 10! This was the worst experience I’ve ever had in an immediate care center. I hurt my foot and went in to see if they could give me an x-​ray, and because I said I didn’t remember the fall in it’s entirety, they focused on the fact that my brain might have something going on with it. They wouldn’t even LOOK at my foot! They essentially refused me service, trying to tell me I had to go to St. Vincent’s so they could do a neurological test on me. Really?! My foot hurt, not my head! My foot hurt and the nurse wouldn’t even send in a doctor to at least look at it. I told her I wasn’t going to St. V’s for any neurological test, because it was my FOOT that hurt not my HEAD! Apparently they pick and choose what they want to work on, or maybe I just don’t understand my biology — perhaps the foot is in someway connected directly to my brain activity. I would rather go to a vet clinic next time. So I went home and iced it, going to Epic Imaging the next day, where I got an x-​ray of my foot, and you know what? They didn’t care about me not remembering my fall. Imagine THAT!!!

I wish I could give less than one star. I injured my ankle in April of 2012 and came here because it was the closest urgent care. I had an x-​ray of my ankle and was told that it was just a bad sprain. I was in a ton of pain and my ankle was huge. They wouldn’t even give me prescription ibuprofen.
One week later and my ankle was still huge and I couldn’t put any pressure on it. Luckily my mom is a nurse so she knew something wasn’t right and told me to go see an orthopedic doctor. They x-ray’ed my ankle and found a serious fracture and said that I had to have surgery the next week. I had the surgery and was off of it for 3.5 months. My orthopedic surgeon was shocked that they didn’t catch it. I don’t recommend wasting any money coming to this urgent care!!!

I went to the Immediate Care center to receive treatment for a deep cut on my foot.
The wait was long, but this place is the only late-​night immediate care center in the area so they get lots of traffic.
Overall, my experience was good with the medical staff there. My one gripe was that the intake nurse made a mistake on my chart, the result of which caused me to need antibiotics as a preventative measure. It could’ve been a worse mistake, but still.
Other than that, a good place to go if you don’t *need* the ER.

Learning about the Providence Medical Group — Tanasbourne Immediate Care center was a true blessing! We used to go to a local emergency room for things like broken bones, severe fevers, or other immediate or urgent care needs. The medical bills, or co-​pays for an ER visit were becoming astronomical! Not to mention the extreme long wait times at the ER just to even get in the door.
We learned a few years ago that Urgent care, or Immediate care centers like Providence Medical Group — Tanasbourne Immediate Care, charge fees similar to what we would have to pay seeing our primary care doctor. That was a huge relief.
I also found that while there still can be a bit of a waiting period to be seen, it is usually no where near as long as what you would wait in the ER. We have been to this location so many times for so many different issues. Every time we have been here the staff has been amazing. They do such a good job! From stitches to severe allergic reactions, they have taken great care of my family. I trust the staff here, both medical and front desk. I may never take my family to the ER again… hopefully!
Just some tips for your visit here: Bring hand sanitizer; like any urgent care center, there are a lot of sick people who come in and out of the doors here. Leave the kids at home if possible; your wait time here can still be up to an hour or more when busy and there is little to nothing there to entertain children. Not to mention you wouldn’t want them exposed to anything. If you must bring the kids, bring entertainment (toys, games) items too.
