Salam Restaurant

First off we did not feel welcome in the restaurant. We waited for ten minutes for one of the girls to take our order… meanwhile the girls were just chatting it up and avoiding our table. After having our waters filled we thanked the server but no response on three different occasions. The service was cold and uncomfortable. Finally we were happy our food came! Only one thing though, it didn’t have any taste! Ugh! We had to endure all that for tasteless food. I would recommend people steer clear of this restaurant.

Good restaurant. If you are looking for some great middle eastern food, then you should stop by this great place in an up and coming area in Orenco Station. This area has really taken off and it looks like it is still growing. The service team and ownership of this restaurant is very friendly and accommodating. The food is good too. I had the Gormeh Sabzi and Fessenjoon is very good. The only thing missing that I wish they had on their menu was mast-​o-​musir. If they had this, it would be a perfect place. The pita is fresh and right out of the oven. Goes perfectly with humus and their humus is great. If you are in Hillsboro and get an urge for Persian food, this is the place to go.

Tried Mediterranean food here. Falafel wrap was good. Best one was bakalwa cake. Location is good. And ambience was good as well. The complementary dish was amazing. Service was ok. Try once.

The complementary pita is quite possibly the best thing going on here, and might be why I come back. Our food – chicken dish, hummus platter – was good, but it’s a tough market with Gyro House and Oasis a few minutes away.

Excellent! There’s not many places to get Persian food in Portland — much less Hillsboro. This place has great food at an even better price. We’ll be back time and time again.

Excellent the bread was outstanding, and the gourmet subzhe was great. Vegetarians paradise.

Amazing food. Truly. The service is okay. Ambiance is nice with classical Persian paintings here and there. Décor is very simple but none obtrusive and the lighting is generous on your food’s color and the feel of the meal.
More than anything else though you should come here to be served VERY authentic Persian dishes made with consistent high quality. The chicken Kabob and their Salmon Fish Special are out of this world. Their Lebneh and Taziki are awesome as well.
They seem to sell a lot of Pizza, I have not tried any but they sure look good.

Good food fast service at a fair price, this place perfected their craft to a point where you get a consistent product upon most visits. I will continue as a customer ehen the urge says lets eat.

This place was delicious! I had the dinner special, which was a bone in piece of lamb with basmati rice flavored with dill and dabs beans. The lamb was tender and perfectly seasoned. The rice had great flavor that wasn’t overdone. I also loved that you get a piece of big bread at the beginning with oil and spices, would be perfect to share. I had baklava for dessert, the filo dough was perfectly flaky and it wasn’t overly sweet. I had really nice service as well. I am really indecisive so I let my server give me some suggestions and he definitely did not let me down. If I come back to this area, I plan on coming back here.

Really good food. — 1 star for frequently not taking off the onions on the wrap, 4 out of 5 times.
But I’m capable so I still order and just pick them off and enjoy my wrap.

WOW wow wow this restaurant is amazing. Walked in loved the high ceilings and huge windows. Also the oven where the fresh pita bread was being baked so good. I pretty much tried a little bit of everything. Lamb kabob, chicken kebab, also a must try is the kafta which is grilled to perfection. I almost forgot the mezze which includes, hummus, baba ghanoush, falafel, and lebneh. Yes I ate alot here cause I love middle eastern food. You want great service and fresh food this is your restaurant

Ordered takeout for dinner: beef kabob, chicken kabob, and tzatziki appetizer and separate salad (included). Customer service when picking up was good.
The portion size ratio of protein to rice/​vegetables is completely disproportionate and disappointing (see photos). The serving size of beef was slightly larger than the chicken but both were under 130 grams (weighed using kitchen measuring scale). The «saffron» rice was very under seasoned and nearly all of the rice was cooked without saffron (see the almost all white rice).
Chicken was cooked well, only one small slice of grilled lemon/​tomato included. Beef appeared to be cooked well but was quite tough for both of us.
Considering each plate entre was 12+ dollars we either expected greater quality of food (including more grilled vegetables, etc…) or greater portion sizes. In conclusion, very overpriced and not a real dinner… Salads were also very small and bland. The photo of the salad is actually both salads combined on a plate before any was eaten (greens were fresh though).

Love Salam. Been going there since it opened. Friendly people, great Mediterranean dishes, and giant flatbread with your meal. I usually get taziki and a lamb gyro. Also the lentil soup is excellent.

We went here for family night out.
This restaurant clearly caters to the «American» palate as the food was very bland and not very «Lebanese.»
I ordered a veggie kabob with a side salad and was surprised to see a spring greens type of salad with balsamic vinegar when I had imagined more of a tabbouleh type salad. Apparently I needed to pay an extra $ 3.00 for that pleasure. I can’t really complain about my kabobs, they were veggie and I wouldn’t expect too much spice on them, the saffron rice was pretty bland, but not untasty.
My husband got the Kafta kabob which he found to be really tough and at one point had to cut with a knife.
My kids got the chicken kabob and Chicken mini chicken burger. My older son (kabob) thought it was pretty bland and didn’t like the rice at all.
My younger son did love the chicken burger, which is great because it came out a full 10 – 15 minutes after every else’s food. Speaking of that, it seemed to take quite a long time to get food at all.
We went through almost two giant pita breads before our food arrived. Even though they were happy to provide us with more pita, we were not given more than a teaspoon of olive oil and some spices (which were very tasty).
The waitstaff were nice and running around, but it’s hard to make up for not getting the food in a timely manner.
I really, really wanted to like this restaurant.

Their peta bread is amazing and served beautifully. Fresh out of the oven they serve it right away so you can nibble on it while waiting for your meal.
The husband and I ordered the vegan mezza (both times) and loved it! The second time we went we took my husband’s parents, who are picky meat eaters, and they loved it as well.
I highly recommend this place. Yum!

Extremely fresh bread baked in front of you. The staff was excellent even though my mother was being difficult. We ordered the chicken and beef kabob sandwiches and they hit the spot.

Salam is an experience… which is what dining out SHOULD be. You are served a GIANT pita hot from the oven… as you sit. Steam is wafting off, and the bread is all bubbly. The herbs that come with are wonderful.
Then, you enjoy a nice selection of appetizers and the dinners are very good. I love the baklava.
My only real complaints are small: I wish they’d do a half and half plate for hummus and baba ghanonush, because we always have to order an entire plate of each –I like one, hubby likes the other. The other concern is the lentil soup, which I don’t care for.
But most of the dishes are pretty amazing. I’m not a chicken eater and I even eat chicken dishes there! Try it!

I wanted to check this place out for a while being that it is close to work but haven’t had a chance till this weeks when I met a client here. The best part of this place is the hot oven and the pita bread served fresh and hot at the table. I really liked the bread which was soft and tasty. The food was meh, just ok. The chicken kabob sandwich was more pita and very less of everything. The client ordered lamb pie which was bland. Overall a decent lunch place but I would not be returning.

I may not be an expert on Persian or Lebanese food, but I know when something tastes good and also like good service. My husband had come here for lunch with co-​workers and had suggested that our family come here too. I love finding little restaurants in places I wouldn’t have thought to look.
We were seating promptly and as we were looking through the menu, they brought out a big, warm, puffy pita with some spices and olive oil for dipping. We had ordered a hummus plate as a starter that was really good. It was nice and creamy with a little lemony tang.
We all liked what we ordered. The chicken kebabs, chicken kebab wrap, lamb kebab, and lahm (sort of like a ground lamb empanada) were all really good! All this ended up being too much food for us, so we bought almost half home.
The service was really friendly and quick and the prices were surprisingly low. We are sure to be back.
