On the suggestion of someone else my boyfriend and I ended up here for a late lunch/early dinner one day. We just recently moved to Henniker and despite having attended college there we still don’t know all the good eats in the area. Alas, we found ourselves at Tooky Mills. The atmosphere is cozy with a small amount of people being able to fit in there. We went at a slow time so besides a few people at the bar we were the only ones there. Service was prompt and attentive. I don’t remember the name of our waitress unfortunately but she was very pleasant. She was observant and filled our drinks the moment they were getting low. We started with potato skins which were crispy and very good. There was ample amounts of cheese and bacon. Four skins to a $ 7 plate, and they are full size potato halves. Not a bad price at all. For our meals we both went with buffalo tenders. You receive about 5 cutlet sized tenders, beer battered to deliciousness. Neither of us could finish it all! They aren’t tossed in the buffalo sauce, that’s my only critique. The blue cheese dressing tasted homemade as well which was nice. Overall, we will be going back and it was worth the visit.

I have been here 2 or 3 times over the years the place is Ok. It is clean and has a nice bar which seems to draw in the locals also a good beer selection and bar alway seems pretty busy. As for food and service well I think the service is usually pretty slow, not terribly slow but slow. The food is ok nothing really outstanding but i will say they usually have some nice specials, I had the jambalaya which was pretty good spicy but not to spicy. I don’t know it just one of those places if i have no place else to go i will go there.

We’ve lived in town for 10 years and this is the only restaurant we frequent in the area. We’ve never had a bad meal, service, or experience. It’s a rustic bar with quirky decorations. The burgers are great, as are the daily specials. The only negatives come from my mother who had wished they told her the mashed potatoes had garlic in them, and she’s not a fan of their red pasta sauce. My response was to get the fish and chips which are the best.

First of all the food is always great. Definitely some of the best you can get in town. Everything seems fresh and made to order. Some of my favorites are the buffalo tenders and their unique soups. They also have great specials that are always new and exciting. The only down fall of this establishment is the service. It takes so long to get your meal. One of the bartenders is less than friendly and can come across down right rude, but the servers all seem accommodating and helpful. Riki is one of my favorite bartenders and I try to go in when she’s working. She creates a warm atmosphere and always greets the guests with a smile.

I used to go here years ago and then recently had the chance to dine here again and I’ve always been happy with the food and service. This latest time I was in I discovered the beer battered jack sticks which are amazing! Great sauce with them as well. Good service, cool atmosphere… great place to hang out.

My fav app & entrée is potato skins and chicken parm. I enjoy summers eating out on the deck. When they run specials the Monte Cristo is my fav

Awesome local spot with a great menu and nice selection of beer on tap and wines. The menu is pretty decent with everything from prime rib to large Cobb salads. Cozy and warm it is a friendly place you should try and visit if your in the area.

I’ve been here three times and each time was the same experience, the food is absolutely fantastic but the service, though friendly, is pretty slow. I ordered a cup of chili and a southwestern salad with steak. The cup of chili came roughly 10 minutes after ordering it, but the steak salad camejust over 40 minutes after ordering. It’s a place where a lot of locals come, and I recommend it! The menu is diverse and the food is tasty with plenty of beer and good portions. Just don’t expect a quick stop for a bite.

My husband and I went there after reading great reviews of the chef. We had a couple of beers and ordered their steamed mussels. We both agree that the mussels were cooked to perfection and sopping up the Au Jus with bread was a big bonus. Will go back again. Did find a small hair in the bread though, so that is why I didn’t give it a 5 star rating. Hair nets?

Although I’ve had an order of the chicken fingers brought home to me a # of times, I met a couple people there there last night & ordered something new from the menu. The food was great, the service was great & enjoyed the time out. The ONLY thing is because I’m a big guy & it seemed a little cramped to me. Not to worry if your an average size person though!

We go here a lot. Best food between Keene and Concord. Extensive menu. Tempting specials. Food is always fresh and meals prepared to order. Chef/owner knows his craft. The staff are all friendly, professional and very accommodating. Busy on weekend evenings. Worth the wait.

Best buffalo tenders I have had to date. Other than that, the food is a solid«good». I wish there were a better tap selection(there are 5 or so, which at least is more than you can get anywhere else in town), I think a good selection of microbrews would really help this place make a name.

Tooky Mills is the go to restaurant in Hillsborough. With good food and good people, you can’t get any better. I personally recommend the Chicken Tenders with fries. With a light breading and a obviously not frozen or overly salted piece of chicken, you can’t go wrong! This place is for a casual lunch or a nice dinner with the whole family.

As someone who lives in Hillsborough, I have to say service here is going to hell. My wife and I sat for almost 30 minutes today AFTER our lunch was done waiting for the waitress to come back to the table before I went to the bar to close our tab. Unfortunately poor service is becoming the norm here. We didn’t see her other than to take our order, and drop off the food. Food service is also slow, even when the place is empty. Being that there are not many games in town, they still have plenty of business. However they will not have mine again.
