This place is always amazing. My family and I travel here from Bridgewater occasionally and love it every single time. The staff is so friendly and we have loved all our meals. Awesome specials menu too. Stacey behind the bar is outstanding!!!

I decided to give this restaurant a second chance. Horrible decision. Bad service, bad food, and dirty environment. I don’t recommend it. The prices were high for what they offered.

Nice little bar. Pretty quiet for a Sunday. I got a cheeseburger with coleslaw, girlfriend got French Onion soup and fries that she loved. Your typical bar food stuff. All pretty good though. Only complaint was slow service and wasn’t asked for a refill on my beer. But seeing as there only appeared to be one waitress on that’s understandable. All in all good place that I’d go to again.

Love this bar and restaurant. You won’t go wrong with anything on the menu… there’s a huge selection of salads, sandwiches, burgers, steaks, fish, pastas, or whatever you’re looking for. Service has always been great for my family and me. Best restaurant in Hillsborough.

Just returned from dinner & drinks at Petrocks and had a great time. Food was very good and service could not have been any better. Melissa is an awesome server. Ignore the bad reviews, go and have a great time!

You can always count on good food and friendly service at Petrocks. The salad menu is long and varied and there are plenty of other healthy options on the menu too. The Gracie salad is a favorite of mine. Pair it with a martini or a glass of wine for a nice dinner. It’s also a great place to meet for drinks with friends.

Talk about a hidden gem. I have lived in a hillsborough for a few years now, never stopped in here because it looked like a little dive bar. Decided to try with my husband this past weekend and we couldn’t be happier. 1)I am a very picky eater and basically am a vegan. When I found out the chef was a vegan and there was plenty on the menu I could actually order, this place got an a in my book 2)my husband loves seafood, he ordered a crab cake sandwich and said it was really good. 3)service was friendly and speedy. We told them we were going to a movie right after and they were very accommodating. 4)beer selection was very good including having my current favorite which is hard to find(Not your Father’s beer) 5)price was fair. Two people for one app, 2 dinners, and a few cocktails was 50 before tip. 6)great little outdoor patio. We will be here again soon!!! Thanks

This is the first bad review I have EVER written on Unilocal and this place is very deserving of it. I didn’t even get through the door before I learned that this place has terrible service. I called to simply ask when they were open until, the day being Monday. The woman on the phone answered with a very condescending«The bar? The kitchen? The restaurant? Today? Tomorrow? When?» I gave them the benefit of the doubt and just said«The kitchen and bar. Today.».She continued to list off, ad nauseum, the hours of every part of the restaurant for each day and the week, despite having told her exactly what times I needed. I told her thanks, that if she didn’t want to help me, that’s fine. What I didn’t bother to say was that she would not have my business or my friends’ business, ever. Oh and their liquor store is a ripoff. I wont be stopping there anymore either. Very sad as I live in Hillsborough and they would have had a lot of business from me and my friends on boring weeknights. Don’t bother.

Must trys: Lemon Pepper Wings(LPWs) — the best around! They load on the seasonings which make them very tasty. Pulled Pork Nachos — omg I could eat them for lunch and dinner all week! They were on the specials menu but since off; however every time I frequent I order them and they deliver. The pork is amazing. Portabello & Spinach Quesadillas — my new fav! They are loaded with portabello mushrooms, cheese and spinach. Beer selection is top notch! Icy cold, always friendly servers that offer samples to try. Great all around pub place!

Living nearby, I have been here on multiple occasions over the years. I almost always find a new reason not to return but seem to give them an endless number of chances. My first problem is that they charge for soft drink refills. This may be a minor thing for some people but I don’t really care. I can’t stand this practice at any establishment, especially one whose soda consistently tastes flat/expired like it does here. It’s likely that they just don’t use Coke or Pepsi products but hey, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for… Unless of course you’re dining at Petrock’s. My next issue is their pricing. I went here this past weekend with a friend and we both ordered a buffalo chicken salad and had a soda. The bill came out to about $ 35 plus tip. We both agreed that while the salad tasted quite good, the portions would have been more reasonable to be considered as a side salad. I could have gone to SaladWorks, used my Raider Card and gotten the exact same meal + drinks with larger portions(and free refills) for $ 16 out the door. Petrock’s posts their business hours but almost every time I have gone later at night,(maybe within 45 – 60 min of the stated closing time) they are already closed or are closing and won’t serve you. In my view, Petrock’s has become rather arrogant in recent times and is happy with only retaining their regular customers rather than making themselves more attractive to new ones. Overall, I do like their food but it’s overpriced. To boot, unless you’re being served by one of the very capable bartenders, the service is never that great.

The last few times I have been here the services has been okay defiantly not great. I called in an order of wings recently and they forgot to put it in so I stood around waiting for about 15 mins. The staff didn’t seem to care or take responsibility for the mistake. They define lay don’t like when you make special requests for your food. I asked to have something changed on a meal and the waitress said the kitchen doesn’t like to do that. The food is okay nothing great. I do like their lemon pepper wings a lot. All and all not our top choice in Boro at all. Could be much better.

Sadly, the service and food has steadily gone down hill. Good drinking bar but the restaurant side needs attention. Menu is tired.

We don’t live in the area but we chanced it with Petrocks as it was the only one with the patio open for the season. I went inside to tell them we were seated outside, there was no hostess. I stood there in front of the bartender for a few minutes and she just looked at me made no effort to help find someone(the bar was not busy) I had I hunt down a buss boy. not a good start. We were given menus and we waited and waited for over 10 minutes. Finally young man who didn’t introduce himself came and took our order. He didn’t know the menu because he didn’t tell us any specials or food recommendations. We had to ask the table of regulars next to us. Ordered a kids meal of chicken breast, jalapeño poppers, broccoli soup, Mexican wrap and French dip sandwich. My coke tasted off(they use more seltzer and less syrup to keep down). Husbands iced tea and daughters lemonade tasted a bit off too. like the powder type. But we were thirsty and thought free refills so eh whatever. Broccoli soup was disgusting, I attempted to eat it but it had the texture of cottage cheese. They tried to mask it with a piece of melted cheddar on top(think of French onion soup) but it tasted even more gross than it looked. I was embarrassed but I asked the buss boy to please bring it back it was inedible. Daughters meal was not fresh chicken breast. It was perfectly square piece of frozen Tyson’s chicken breast(with the«grill marks» on the chicken). I know what a chicken breasts looks like and that is not it. I could go on but I’m tired of typing and you are tired of reading. Spent 60 bucks for a forgettable meal. Was charged for the soup, and $ 10 on fountain drinks, what kind of place charges refills for fountain drinks. especially ones they water down ? Only good part was the buss boy was very nice! I’ve worked bussing tables, as a hostess and a waitress I know restaurant protocol and I know it’s not an easy job. With the exception of the buss boy this restaurant doesn’t knowing what customer service means. This may be a good watering hole for he locals but for food do yourself a favor and avoid this place like a plague, overpriced, rude staff and food leaves much to be desired.

Food is Good. Service is Bad I am thinking this is a bar trying to be a restaurant. The bar was busy, but the dining area was empty. In fact, we saw the sign outside for Happy Hour, but the happy hour was only for the bar. Why do they even have a separate dining area when they don’t want people to sit there. We parked in the front, because we saw a door to the restaurant. There are actually 2 doors in the front, and they are both locked. You have to enter from the rear of the building, and it is not marked well in the front. We had to walk around to the back to enter the restaurant, which was the first strange thing. We all ordered drinks, and they came out quick. The waitress seemed impatient that we hadn’t decided what to order yet. Her English was not great, and you could see that people are supposed to order and eat fast where she is from. We had to actually tell her to come back in 10 minutes to take our order. We were not going to be rushed. ANDWEWERETHEONLYONESINTHERESTAURANTAREA! The food was good, but strange. My friend ordered the Cesar salad with shrimp. You have to order the shrimp per piece. The waitress asked-«how many shrimp do you want?» I have never been asked that in a restaurant in my life. After we figured out what was going on, we questioned her back-How big are they? She made a finger motion as to the size, which meant nothing at all to us. I ordered the pastrami ruben, and it was good. All in all, the food is above average, but between the service, the layout, and servers standing around doing nothing, we won’t be back. Hint to my followers : If you go, I would suggest you sit in the bar area. They seemed to get better service from the servers and the bartender. Happy Hour is ONLY in the bar area, which is the silliest thing I have ever seen. Why would people go to the restaurant to have lunch with a group of 4 or more if they don’t want to be at the bar? Expect an unusual dining experience.

Everybody truly does know your name. I have been going here since I was about 10 years old. This is the bar where my mom and my friend’s moms would hang out. One of the only bars in Hillsborough, it had a calm, local bar atmosphere. Great menu with a wide variety of choices. Well priced drinks. The bartenders are speedy and provide great service. There is a dining section if you would rather not sit at the bar. Whether you are stopping by drink or staying for a few, this is probably THE best place to stop in town.

Our group ordered sandwiches and beer. $ 10 for a small pulled pork sandwich with a side of spinach was a bit overpriced but nothing compared to the $ 23 pitchers of Leinenkugel($ 9-$ 10 more than anywhere else, like the Chimney Rock Inn). True, we did not ask the price when ordering but expected under $ 15. They took a few dollars off our $ 240 tab after we grumbled and the manager(owner?) made it sound like $ 23 was fair(odd that given they also own a liquor store, they pay so much for beer?). CONCLUSION There are better options in this crowded market. I do not intend to return.

Somehow, SO and I ended up here because we didn’t want to go to New Brunswick or Princeton, so we decided to drive down 206 towards Somerville, and if anything caught our eye(or if we didn’t feel like driving anymore) we would stop. We ended up at Petrock’s for a drink or two. It’s definitely one of those bars/pubs that everyone kind of knows everyone and is friendly and all. The clientele is very mixed too– middle aged, college aged home for spring break, and our age, right in the middle, all races etc. There was a large group of people who were having a blast and singing and drinking when we got in. Someone knew the owner I think, and had a bit of a stronghold on the jukebox and played songs everyone loves to sing to, and someone from the group was trying to get everyone in the bar to sing. It was fun, but very loud. As for our drinks, we didn’t get anything fancy– just beers, so can’t really say they make a good drink. We tried to order something to snack on, but after waiting for the bartender to stop talking to people he knew, we decided to just finish our round and leave so we could get something quick on the road.
