If you need any gardening related things come here. A really big selection of things. They also got organic things for all you organic growers out there. Many different plants to choose from. A lot of seeds too. I only go to Home Depot for gardening purposes so the review is only about that.

I don’t know why it’s always like pulling teeth to get any kind of customer service here. They don’t greet you at the pick up counter, I stood at the counter for ten minutes and no one even acknowledged my existence. The customer service here is absolutely terrible! I wouldn’t shop here if I didn’t have to.

Love this Home Depot. They’re usually pretty busy so sometimes it’s hard to get help but if they are ever free they will ask if you need help and always very friendly. If they ever mess up on an order they go above and beyond to make things better

Online ordering sucks — must be done at the store which I find time consuming and ridiculous. Waited months for my order. They never called, no follow-​ups despite going through various resources. I re-​ordered and waited after the estimated time of arrival date — still no call, no email, no one informed me of my item being delivered. So, once again — had to go to the store to ask if my order arrived. Clerk said it did arrive but could not locate it, said they moved things around. Finally found it where it should be and it had arrived a week before but no one called to inform me that it was ready to be picked up. Overall, it took 4 months to finally get what I wanted. So, where did my first order go? Customer oriented companies would have re-​sent order at no-​charge — not Home Depot.
Service is very slow. Very inefficient. Lacks organization. Procedures should be changed to allow for ordering online, home delivery, better customer service. Phone calls are avoided. At times, calls are not being picked up even after 30 minutes.
Better selections at other store locations.

If you want customer service Do Not Go To Hilo’s Home Depot! If you do find somebody to help you, they are just too busy to give a decent answer. I agree with Andy C. This is the worst shopping experice ever. I, too, wish I could give negative stars!!!

Rarely is it that I can walk into Home Depot without wanting to take home at least 75% of the things I see in the store. I mean, I could say the same about a pet store, but that’s neither here nor there.
Regardless of what it is that I (or my family) needs, we can rest assured that Home Depot has got us covered. Not to mention that the staff is almost always very helpful and friendly.
There are Home Depots all over the country, but if you don’t already know the wonders of it, just know that the one we have here in Hilo is worth a try. If you’re ever in need of a few supplies for home improvement or anything of the like, I would certainly recommend that you stop by the good ‘ol HD. They have a much better selection than anywhere in town, and more often than not, you won’t leave disappointed!

I hate going to Home Depot, first I tried calling to get a quote on materials before coming to store to make sure they had the materials I need. I spend 30 minutes in a vicious cycle between the customer service who answered the phone and the «pro-​desk.» After 30 minutes of this never ending circle of stupidity and a promise of a call back (which never happened by the way) I opted to go in store. Finding someone knowledgeable enough to help me find the items was a serious task. Customer service was seriously lacking and I finally told the guy I could figure it out on my own. I try to go HPM and ACE as much as possible rather than Home Depot.
Growing up I use to go Home Depot all the time with my dad on projects. We would always get a ‘Depo Dog’ which was trademark father daughter bonding. I guess it fits that the ‘depo dogs’ were no were near edible here. Huge disappointment…

Worst shopping experience ever; wish I could give negative stars!!!
I opened a new Home Depot credit card to start fixing up the house I just bought. The guy at the customer service counter was friendly and all seemed well with my account set-​up, so I started shopping.
Among the items I purchased were two items, a grill and a lawn mower, that were being stored in the over-​stock top shelves. I also had a fully loaded and piled high flat bed cart; therefore, when the associate asked if it would be alright to «will call» the items, so they would be ready for pick-​up the next day, I happily agreed. My car was going to be full as it was, so I would have to come back anyway. I know things run on «island time», so 24 hours notice should be PLENTY of time to get a grill and a lawn mower down.
I return over 24 hours later, as planned. It was about 2 hours from closing time, the next day. So they had the end of the day I was there, plus all that day to get the two items down. (Note: they were just above their respective locations, not hiding in some back warehouse) And, of course: no one ever pulled them down. In a day and a half they couldn’t do what they promised, are you freaking kidding me!!! Ok, calm; I’m in no rush. They can just grab them now and I can be out of here.
It takes them over a half hour to figure out the items were definitely not pulled and they need to go find them. They call the garden department associate to pull the lawn mower. After a half hour and no mower, they now can’t find the garden associate!!! Turns out she «couldn’t find it», and decided to go to lunch without telling anyone she couldn’t find it. Seriously??? Worst customer service ever, worst management ever!!! I walk over and find the mower in less than a minute. It was in the isle it was supposed to be, right in front of a light, so it was easy to see, but she was too lazy and incompetent to actually look!!!
At this point the customer service guys actually suggests I come back in another day. I live 35 minutes from there; I am not driving over an hour, just to alleviate their incompetence!!!
The only good luck in all of this was I found a few of the grill I was waiting for on a pallet in a group of pallets coincidently being brought out by the stock associates. So, I showed them it was right there, so I’m just gonna grab it. At least I didn’t have to wait for this too!
So they call another associate to come, so he can pull the mower, that the incompetent garden associate didn’t. I meet him at customer service and show him were the mower is. He says he will come right back with a forklift! At last, someone is actually doing something! I wait over a half hour, all the while watching the «stock associates» moving material around with a forklift but one isle over, but they are «stock», not «customer service», so they cannot help a customer. Right tool, right place, poor management. Finally I go looking for the guy, and he is «just heading to get the forklift now». Apparently he had to go find an associate to spot him, and it took over 30 minutes of walking the store. Really??? Finally almost an hour since he left to «go get the forklift», and over TWO HOURS after I arrive he finally arrives with a forklift! Granted the store is now closed, but I’ve already paid, and I ain’t leaving without my @&&$&@ grill!!!
I thought the ordeal was over; the forklift and driver are here… Next the forklift driver decides to try teaching the female associate how to drive the god damned forklift!!! Are you &&&@&$& kidding me??? I watch her fail and fail and fail to get the forklift lined up right, as she had never done that before, and I guarantee was not certified to drive a forklift either… Finally after about 15 minutes she gives up, and the actual forklift driver gets it down in a jiffy. I load it on my cart and beat feet out of there, before someone decides to waist more of my night.
Finally; 30 minutes after closing and almost 3 hours after arriving to pick up two items that were supposed to be waiting for me at customer service, I left.
But wait, there’s more…
When the customer service guy took my information to set up the credit account. He asked for my mailing address, and then if I had another address as well. Seamed reasonable to include my physical address since they are giving me credit. Nope; turns out he didn’t «like» my mailing address, so he decided to use my physical address as my mailing address. Too bad the post office won’t deliver mail to my house, due to being in a rural area, so the account card and statement never make it too me!!! I know my own mailing address! $&@&$&@ idiot!!!
I now shop at ACE, and ANY OTHER hardware/​farm supply store I can.

I’m a do it your self kind of woman & I’m pretty well acquainted with this store. After being my own contractor and building my own house, anything seems possible. I don’t have an architectural background but I do love a challenge & learning new things. I find small amounts of here and there labor therapeutic… and I do mean SMALL amounts. Lol!
But back to the store itself…
Isles are well organized and clearly marked.
The staff is very knowledgeable & they always point me in the right direction.
I’ve recently laid out a few projects. Between the resources at this store and YouTube I’m feeling pretty confident. Lol!

Went to HD to get a few plumbing parts. Couldn’t find what I needed so I looked for help. Two ASSociates standing there talking to each other. I stood patiently waiting till they were done… they were talking about what departments they work in as though they did not know. When they finished their conversation the pair split as though I did not exist. I said REALLY! One said what do you need? I said «nothing, you probably don’t know where it is anyway «. I left and went to ACE. They had it and their service was great! HD service and offering is HORRIBLE! They are a necessary evil big corporation not needing to try.

Today is the worse yet! Customer service sucks!!! They can not even answer their page and no manager comes out!!! Wtf!!!
They need to get their act together!!! Because they won’t compensate for making u wait!!!/Ugghhh!!!

I’m a fan because it’s close to where I live. But not only that, being that it is a big box store you can get pretty much anything for your home. Sometimes when I do need assistance, it’s just hard to find an associate. They have good product knowledge though, just work a little bit more on customer service.
They have anything and everything there… awesome!

This is a great place to shop. The staff is the friendliest in Hilo. I can always count on somebody answering my questions and helping me to my car. People here genuinely care about customers. The store is kept clean. I would recommend this to everybody.

Sure they get busy. And building supply stores are no place for kids.
The line of products and service after sale brings me back. I’ve never had a problem returning an item.
When I couldn’t locate a receipt they looked it up on their billing invoices.
Keep up the good work.

They could replace 10 useless employees with 1 knowledgable one and pay that person well, and he/​she would be more helpful than 10 people who don’t know anything about building. This Home Depot is constantly a disappointment. Poor customer service, horribly unknowledgeable associates, the worst phone answering skills. Is there an option for no stars? I signed up for Unilocal just to create this review as I am just so sick of it. It takes a lot to get me to complain but they really need to step it up!

OMG!!! This is the worst HD I have ever seen! Has it always been this way? Not one flat cart to be found, and associates were even more scarce! Unreal! Multiple safety violations too. I saw poorly maintained equipment including a forklift with bad tires that wouldn’t even idle properly. Employees chat with fellow associates instead of concentrating on safety. The safety zones were frequently broken. Power hours were a joke. Product blocking aisles. Obvious lack of staff. Management to blame. Shame, shame on you!!!

I was at the check out in the garden dept tonight and a guy just walked up and cut in front of me. The cashier looked at me and then proceeded to check the guy out without saying anything… uncool. The cashier should have said something…

When guys tease women about taking too long shopping at the mall, this is one place where the rolls are revered. The Home Depot is the men’s version of the mall.
Whenever I go to Home Depot I’m like a kid in a candy store. I’m always finding something new that i have to get. I think that almost every man that goes into the Home Depot for one or two things ends up walking around and finding several more things to buy! It’s one of those places where you start walking through the aisles and discovering things that you have never seen before, but just have to get for your collection that is rarely used!
They do have the best tools and specialty items that some of the smaller stores don’t carry. What I like about the Home Depot is that they have the same type of tools at different price ranges, so people who may be on a budget can afford them. It’s just a matter of brand name or certain materials used in the product that may make it more expensive. They also carry everything you need for the garden, home renovation: such as paint and building materials, and appliances. None the less there is a variety of choices from the beginner to the expert.
Although sometimes it might be hard to find an associate to help you, because the store can get quite busy especially on the weekends. The people who do work at this store are very helpful and knowledgeable.

The Home Depot is cool. It’s good to have one place where you can get most of your building and home related needs taken care of.
But my favorite thing about this place is the sign that was up before they were open.
This is one of those things you see online, but I didn’t think I would see it firsthand. Someone must have had a sense of humor because they had obviously stopped putting up the letters after they had spelled T-​H-​E H-​O.
