Dry Dock

This was my first time here at Hilton head and we decided to eat at dry dock. It was absolutely a terrible experience. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. The service was awful and I will not be returning to this place. We even told the people outside that it was not worth eating here, and they proceeded to leave. I am wondering how they are still in business.

Ordered Po Boy oyster sandwich and got a scallop sandwich that was unremarkable. Ordered the low country version of Ciappino and it was about a two on a ten scale. Other folks were eating plates of battered fried seafood and ribs along with their Pain Killer and Hurricane Alert drinks and they seemed to be really enjoying themselves. Go figure!

Service was great and the food was delicious. Management was very friendly and helpful.

The old restaurant was much better than the new one. We really liked the steamed buckets of oysters.

Service was great. Food is awesome. Our sever was David and he recommended the perfect beer paired with the soft shell crab. All in all, good stuff.

Seafood quality was good but service and food delivery time was not good — over 30+ minutes to get food and quantity was not a lot. 5 or 6 oysters on a po boy and the small ones. My son liked fried shrimp and fries and tater tots were good. But waiting at Sea Shack are worth the wait vs. food quantity and wait times at this place.

We arrived after the dinner rush and were seated by the host. After 15 minutes of not being acknowledged (despite the fact that we were seated next to the servers condiment cabinet) my husband politely asked if a server could come to our table. The waiter was very apologetic and immediately got our drink order and left the table saying «we’ll make sure something is free on the bill tonight!». Drinks arrived, we placed our order with no issue. While waiting for our food, my husband took our toddler over to see the fish tank where he ran into a very upset family. They had been waiting for 10 minutes, not been greeted by a host or hostess and watched several people who arrived after them be seated. What was absolutely unforgivable is the fact that they were African American. My husband apologized and asked if they wanted him to get a server or the host for them to which the response was «No, its alright, it’s not your fault…(to family) lets go somewhere else.» Then the food came, tiny portions, no sides, big prices. Nothing spectacular. Ugh. And NOTHING was taken off the bill! My 11 year old was hungry an hour after eating his tiny sliders. With so many fine restaurants on this island please don’t waste your time or money on this one.

Expansive and comfortable new location. Their cheesesteaks on Amoroso rolls rock. Rank right up there with Pat’s and Geno’s in the City of Brotherly Love. Do yourself a favor. Drop in, relax and enjoy.

I haven’t been to this location, since they recently moved, but the old location (same ownership) was a truly hidden gem! Great value and wonderful quality… will definitely be checking out the new spot next time I’m in town!
