Specializing in Southern Style baked goods, fresh and wholesome every day, beautifully intricate wedding cakes and family café dining inside and alfresco. Vacationers and islanders alike enjoy Signe’s perfected breakfast recipes, savory salads and sandwiches and heavenly desserts.

Established in 1972.

Established in 1972, Signe’s Heaven Bound Bakery Café is the longest continuous restaurant on Hilton Head Island under one ownership and has earned numerous awards and recognition from Hilton Head’s Small Business of the Year to featured appearances on The Food Network, with Rachel Ray and CBS News as well as accolades in Southern Living Magazine, Food & Wine, Bön Appetit, US Magazine, The New York Times and Wall Street Journal among others. The café is best known for its eclectic breakfast and lunch menu especially its baked blueberry French Toast, its Shrimp & Grits and variety of Fritattas. Breads, pastries, cakes and cookies are all prepared from scratch on premise. Wedding Wire and The Knot have named the bakery among the top wedding cake makers in the Southeast on an annual basis since the 1990s.

Business Owner

A native of Connecticut of Swedish heritage, Signe first opened the café/​emporium in 1972 as a single mom to support her young daughters and fulfill her love for baking and cooking. She quickly earned a devoted following for oversized cookies and clever sandwich combinations. Her baking prowess grew dramatically. She remarried in 1978 and moved to larger quarters in 1983 to expand her wedding cake business. Signe is a devoted Christian, wife and grandmother with the same sparkling smile and remarkable energy that she had 40 years ago. She continues to develop new recipes that capture the imagination of her customers. Her key lime pound cakes, chocolate-​chip pecan pies, luscious cakes and biscotti (called Best-​Cotti) are shipped nationally. She has been featured in numerous articles and televised interviews over the years both locally and nationally.
