LOFT

In my household at least $ 1000 of clothing was purchased from The Loft this year.
I am dismayed at their atrocious return policy. I began my Christmas shopping at the Loft on November 7. I needed to return one of the 8 sweaters we purchased. On December 27. At that time I was informed that it was more than 45 days since my purchase, therefore, I would be refunded only the amount the sweater cost on December 27. It didn’t matter that the sweater was in perfect condition, tags in tack, with an original receipt. That is fifty percent of what I paid. Oh, and it got even better, I could only have a Merchandise Gift Card.
Imagine my amusement when the woman at the desk stated that the return policy was clearly outlined on the back of the receipt. We all read the back of our store receipts, don’t we? Another sales person had the audacity to claim that she tells all of the customers about the return policy. No one in my household has ever heard such a thing.
Needless to say, that $ 20 cost them a customer.

I agree with the other reviewers-​the women that work at this location tend to be extremely rude and treat you like you are not good enough to shop at their store. I went there this past weekend and was surprised when one salesgirl said hello. However, the rest of the staff seemed annoyed by my presence. I love LOFT and while this location doesn’t change my opinion of the brand they do need to figure out why their staff is so miserable at this location.

Great customer service here today! The girl helping me was super sweet and tried her best to help me find items that I liked. She made opening a loft card really work to my advantage. I got some great staple pieces that will work nicely for a couple of seasons. Looking forward to going back in a couple of weeks and using the loyalty dollars I earned! Will definitely let people know.

I agree with what Katy said — I adorn myself head to toe with Loft clothing nearly 7 days a week (so I make frequent visits), and never have I been in a store where the staff has such an attitude problem. It’s not like I’ve had one bad experience here either — there have been multiple times where I’ve gone into the store and my presence has either not been acknowledged (no hello, no thank you, nothing — even during checkout), or I’ve been made to feel like I’m inconveniencing the staff (eye rolls, sighs, a general nasty vibe/​attitude).
I usually chalk it up to the fact that it IS Hingham, but no where else (Dedham, South Shore) have I had an experience even close to this. Perhaps the life of a retail employee is not good enough for Hingham girls and that’s what their problem is? I have no idea, but they really need to get it together because I don’t plan to give that location my business any more. I’d rather drive 20 minutes out of my way and go to Dedham where they’re nice to me, and drop $ 200 every 2 – 3 months there instead.

Weird, I’ve had the exact opposite experience from another reviewer here. I shop at Loft all the time, in the outlets, stores and online. I find this store to be small and their selection of petites to be even smaller (which is strange as well because I find most women who live in the area of Irish/​English descent are vertically challenged like myself).
However, it is the ridiculously snooty staff here that drive me from mere ambivalence to outright scorn for this location. In addition to being bad for business, their pretension is ridiculous given that Loft is not Saks Fifth Avenue as they seem to think. They should be friendly to everyone who walks through their doors out of simple respect. I would spend money here as I am in the area fairly often and parking is easy, but their ‘tude prevents me from «deigning» to do so.

I am a huge fan of this particular Loft in the Derby Street Shoppes. The store is rather large when compared to the one in Braintree, and I always find that they have more of a selection (especially petites) at this location as well.
The staff is very friendly and the store is always well put together. If the sales and clearance racks were a little bigger, I’d give this 5 stars. But alas…
Their prices are on par, if not a little cheaper, than Gap and Banana Republic, but if you sign up for emails from the Loft, you’ll know when items are on sale as they frequently go to 40% off once per month or so.
