Ronit — get over yourself. Your staff turns over more often than I do in bed on a hot night, your prices are off-​the-​wall ridiculous for the junior stylists you employ, and your own skill in styling is seriously questionable based on my experience and more recent reviews. Am surprised anyone can still afford your overpriced inferior services. Every time I drive by I expect to see a «for lease» sign in the window,

Wow! After reading all of these reviews I have learned I am not the only one with these types of experiences!
At first they are extremely friendly, accommodating and you feel like you can fully relax the whole time you are there. I got a blow out for a wedding I was going to, so maybe that was why I felt so relaxed…
My second visit was a nightmare!!! I went in to try the «hair facial» and I planned on getting a trim afterwards.
I get there and the girl who did my hair facial was extremely friendly and told me the whole process, which should have taken total about 40 minutes. She also told me since it was my first hair facial my trim would be free! I was so pumped to hear that!
After the hair facial was done, I had no concept of time and it was time for a trim. The whole «consulting» thing is just beyond weird to me, especially when it has nothing to do with my hair. I was asked what I do for a job, what my ideal job would be, what kind of a person I am.
So bizarre.
So finally, my trim is underway and (Ronit) was flipping my hair in every which direction while cutting. I was very nervous at this point, but I kept saying to myself, «maybe this is how she works and it will be a masterpiece at the end.»
Wrong. After she trimmed my hair, she put curlers in, hair spray, cut my bangs way too short, I had pieces that just shot out of the top of my head.
Needless to say, I left the salon looking and feeling like a complete moron.
Oh and this was 2 and a half hours later. Who the hell has time to sit at a salon for more than an hour? I don’t even have kids and I don’t have time for that.
However, BEFORE I left the salon, its time to pay. I was expecting to pay $ 50.00 for the hair facial and then I would leave a big tip for the girl who did that and a smaller tip for the trim. My trim ended up costing $ 95.00. I felt extremely uncomfortable and ugly and I just wanted to get the hell out of there and fix my hair ASAP, so I paid and did not leave Ronit a tip because she was not only awful, but charged me almost $ 100 for a damn trim. I could have done the same thing she did in the comfort of my home, in pajamas and for free.

I would agree with many here. At first, I loved it there… but the quality had declined. The price point is very high (wouldn’t mind if I LOVED it) and I find that it is very social there and stylists are distracted so you can be in the chair for about 3 hours. Stopped loving it, so I moved on

Absolutely the worst hair cut i have ever gotten in my life. The owner Ronit destroyed my hair. I seriously wonder how this salon is still in business and i highly recommend going anywhere NOT going here if you want to get a good hair cut.

I made an appt for a blow dry after spending $ 400 on a foils and products the week before (not including tips). Ronit the owner was running late. Did I want to come back… No, I’ll wait. 20 min it will be… 35 minute and she is still gossiping and she sees me sitting there… She is not hurrying at all… She is the problem in the salon. I wonder if all the other stylists did that would they still be employed! The other girls are wonderful! I keep getting emails why haven’t I come back… ARE YOU KIDDING ME. She sent me a card for a free blow dry… Really. Is that all! NO THANK YOU

I never should have entered this salon.

I’ve been bouncing around trying to find someone that could cut my thick curly hair. I found Maxime, and they took the time to sit down with me and listen to some nightmare stories I’ve had about cut and color. What I liked is that everyone worked as a team, there was no awkwardness or attitude in this salon. I left with a great cut from Jen, and great color from Kelley. I highly recommend seeing them at Maxime!

I’ve tried hard to forget about my relationship-​gone-​bad with Maxime! Problem is I can’t seem to get off their mailing list despite «unsubscribing» multiple times!
After getting two requests within a 24 hour period from maxime to review them on Unilocal I thought I would oblige.
I was a client at Maxime for over two years. Like all relationships, ours was great during the honeymoon phase! The stylists were attentive, thorough and I would leave the salon happy with my natural looking blonde hair! Dishing out $ 180 for a full foil was painful, but at the time (four or five years ago) was around average for high-​end salons.
With each visit the quality went down — WAY DOWN!!! The amount of foils and time spent on my hair decreased while the prices steadily increased! Even if I went in for a partial they found a way to up the charges to well over $ 200! They would say they used a glaze or did something else that I didn’t ask for.
Every time I checked out I was shocked at the price! Once I paid over $ 300 for a cut and full highlight! I remember thinking, this can’t be accurate, all while the receptionist tried to give me the hard sell on products!
The last straw for me was the horrendous cut I got from the owner herself! No joke — she cut one side two inches shorter than the other side!!! Ronit (?) was so distracted with multiple conversations that she barely paid attention to my hair!
Maxime needs to shift their focus to their customers! The owner is so concerned with her bottom line that she has lost sight of providing good service!
I’m now a happy and loyal client at blue vintage salon in Lexington. Megan is a great colorist and has been consistently good! Oh, and the prices are reasonable!!!

I have been going to Maxime for several years and I always find my visits a special treat. My days are always hectic, but when I go to Maxime, I get the chance to relax and get pampered. I get complimented on my hair by so many people. Even my kids friends have said, «your moms hair is so beautiful all the time». I highly recommend their services and everyone who works there.

I had an excellent experience having a color and cut with Melissa and Kate today. I was very impressed with the service received overall as well. Ashley and Katie greeted me on arrival and being my first visit, they took the time to walk through the services and provide a tour of the salon. The approach is very consultative and all of the staff appear to be very knowledgable and very customer service oriented. Melissa provided expert coloring services and Kate gave me a great cut. The head massage as part of the shampoo service was awesome as well. The prices are comparable to those at similar salons on Newbury without any pretense! I feel the attention to detail and level of knowledge and expertise were well worth the price. I think I definitely have a new salon that I definitely recommend to others.

I recently have had the pleasure of spending most of my time due to business in the Boston/​suburbs of Boston area. My hair has been in need of a new look. Way too many highlights and ready for the fall season! I was recommended by a few friends to try out one of the most well-​known salons in the area. I was told that they have an excellent team of stylists and the owner is amazing.
So I gave one look at my high-​lighted hair and made an appointment. First, it was so easy to make an appointment. I had limited time and the Front Desk staff were accommodating to my schedule.
Since this was my first time, I was a little nervous. No need to be– was greeted by the front desk receptionist and given a tour of the salon! then one of the senior stylist (Melissa) sat down for a consultation of exactly what I was looking for. She took care of my color. Another stylist (Jenn) introduced herself to me as the person that would be taking care of my cut. Both were very attentive and so much fun! The owner, Ronit came over to introduce herself and to check in on my color! All stylists gave me pointers on how to best take care of my hair.
The result: AMAZING! I had the new ombré technique on my hair and LOVE IT! I even bought the Oribe heat spray and that stuff is amazing! Smells great and my waves stay!!! Im back in California and keep getting compliments on my color and the natural volume I have now!

Maxine salon does everything to make you feel beautiful. The staff is very professional and extremely kind. They also are very involved with charities such as medicine for poor children and helping cancer patients. I just had the best cut and color done and have had so many people say my new look is the best my hair has looked for twenty five years.
You should go to Maxime and give them a try.

I love it here! Ronit the owner is blunt, gifted and hilarious. She runs this place amazingly and it has become a brand in itself. I started going when it first opened and went to a guy Laurent that left. When my next appt. came, Ronit took over, and I cannot go back to anyone else. She has done the most amazing drastic cuts, from a short bob, heavy bangs etc. It is the only time in my life bangs havent bothered me!
The atmosphere is clean and modern, the girls working there have mostly all been there a long time. She stays current on trends, and trains her stylists in the salon philosophies. They offer Starbucks, water etc. and are extremely Nice and organized.
The only downside for me is that I do not have unlimited funds. I would say most of the women that go there and get a cut and color every 8 – 10 weeks, which is around 300 bucks. They also request booking three appointments at a time, which is hard for me. But the services are so good i stay loyal, and pay the price!
I also didn’t know this, but for free they do bang maintenance, which for me is great. They are also very involved in charities and have events at the salon. I highly recommend it.

DO NOT GO HERE. I’M ONLY GIVING THIS 1 STAR BECAUSE I’M REQUIRED, THEY DESERVE NO STARS.
When Maxime first opened, I would get my hair done all the time, actually saw Ronit for cut and color. I always left the salon feeling beautiful, so when it was time to book a salon for the wedding, I thought Maxime would be a wonderful choice.
BOY WAS I WRONG. While the hair trial went well, Gina was fabulous, the makeup artist, Tara was amateur. She made me look good, but as my mother said, I didn’t look like a bride –and you want to look like one on your wedding day! But that could be fixed… just had to ask for a little bit more the next time around.
WELL there was no next time — TWO weeks before the wedding, I spoke with Samantha, the wedding coordinator, who informed me that Tara was going on vacation the week of my wedding, and that I would have to pay to have another makeup artist to make me over the day of… umm not cool whatsoever…
I also learned that they were going to charge my bridesmaids 150 for an up do (no makeup no nothing) and 85 if they wanted a blow out really??? Come on really 1.) YOU’RE NOT ON NEWBURY 2.) why should the bridesmaid’s cost more than the bride??? (My hair and makeup combined was quoted at 125.00 +)
Needless to say, I scrambled to find somewhere else to go. and luckily a PROFESSIONAL salon down the street came to my rescue
MAXIME not only lost a good amount of money, but also lost a customer who USED to refer people to this shop. STAY AWAY! There are much nicer salons in the area…

Maxime Salon moved from its Norwell location to a new location on Derby Street in Hingham. I had heard great reviews about the salon and was eager to go there because I wanted a change in my hair (think the Victoria Beckham bob… except slightly less crazed).
The salon is still very new and the space is contemporary and Newbury Street-​feeling. However, the salon is much smaller than I thought it would be. When I arrived for my appointment, the lady at the front desk was SO incredibly nice and friendly – she took my coat, showed me around the salon (although it was really small), offered me water, showed me all the magazines, etc etc. She was great.
My first service of the day was hair color. I’ve been dying my hair blonde for God knows how long (yes, it’s not natural, sorry to burst the bubble). The hair colorist sat with me to discuss options and etc, which I liked. However, she pushed me towards a double-​process blonde (think: Playboy white) and I was a little unsure, since the procedure itself is really really hard on your hair. Nonetheless, she was adamant that this was EXACTLY what I wanted, so I went along with it.
When you get your hair colored at Maxime, everyone sits around this table together – so it’s weird when you’re getting purple goop in your hair and another lady is staring at you across the little table. Oh well. I was going along with the double process, etc etc etc, reading my magazine and trying to not think about the dull burning sensation from the aformentioned purple goop.
To make a long story short, my hair turned out white – but with this weird purple cast over it. All my roots that had grown in were not white like the rest of my head, but this awful dark yellow/​orangey/​brassy color that was just horrible. My colorist even said that she wasn’t fully happy with the color but that it would take 2 or 3 MORE times to make the blonde just right.
The color was extremely expensive-​$ 250 to be exact, and this was without a hair treatment or anything – simply putting the goop on my head and rinsing.
After the hair color, I got a haircut and I must say, I really liked it. My stylist (another girl-​not the colorist) was EXTREMELY thorough, and I had brought a few pictures and she studied them carefully and then discussed her ideas with me. She took her time, showed me how to style my new bob, and was really, really good. The haircut was expensive too – $ 125 – but I really liked her.
In total, my Maxime experience was very expensive and although the cut was great, I just was not overly satisfied with the salon to want to come back.
4 days after my appointment I could not handle my orange/​white hair. It was too much for me. I told them PLEASE, let me come in, please fix my hair, etc etc (because salons should allow a client to come back and get their hair fixed – either for free or for a small fee – if they absolutely hate it, which I did). They wouldn’t let me and said that I can’t come in, my hair will FALL OUT if they touch it, etc. You can imagine how good this made me feel. So, all I could do was make an appointment for the middle of January.
3 days after that call, I called AGAIN – I was going crazy. Again they said they couldn’t do anything, blah blah blah. Thankfully I went home for the holidays and my stylist there was able to tone the color down to a normal, more human hue.
To sum it all up, I was really disappointed in both the service itself and the customer relations of Maxime Salon. In my opinion, if you are going to charge $ 375 for a cut and color, you need to treat your clients like gold.
The only reason I gave it two stars was because the salon was clean and it was next to a Starbucks.
