Clean, friendly, homey and inexpensive($ 110/night for weekend). Located amidst rolling hills, Breezy Acres lives up to its name with gorgeous greenery in every direction and a lovely breeze that makes relaxing in a rocker on the porch an even more pleasant pastime. Offering three pastel-themed rooms, each with its own flower motif, Breezy Acres has been up and running for 25 years and the owners have clearly found their niche. The handwritten journal/guest register in each room provides a tangible way to record your presence, and its pages reveal that many guests are repeat visitors. Meals reflect a straightforward, uncomplicated approach with a definite emphasis on the sweet. Breakfast is available between 8 – 9 a.m. Dinner options in the town of Hobart are somewhat limited, but there are a number of excellent restaurants in Oneonta, a half-hour’s drive. Things to note: Traffic along the(single) road is a bit noisier than we expected for being out in the country, but the a/c in the room can provide white noise if needed. Wifi was available but was slightly slow on our MacBookAir. Finally, the host is a gun collector who has more than 90 rifles displayed in glass cases in the common(downstairs) sitting rooms. Everything is in pristine condition and very professionally and securely stored, but it may be a bit jarring for visitors who don’t expect to be surrounded by weaponry. All in all, a relaxing and pleasant vacation in a very color-coordinated, low-key and welcoming environment.
