THE BEST team in town! They just moved us out of our 5^th floor walk up and it was an excellent experience. The team is professional, polite and amazingly efficient. They made an otherwise miserable experience (moving is the worst!) rather enjoyable. Thank you so much!!!

I hired L&L Van Lines to load a U-​Pack/​ABF moving truck to be driven from Hoboken, New Jersey, to Lincoln, Nebraska on April 6, 2016. L&L had done three in-​town Hoboken moves for me over the 21 years I lived in Hoboken, and I assumed that they would do a professional job of packing a long-​distance moving truck. I couldn’t afford to hire a full-​service mover given the fact that I took a pay cut to move to Lincoln, so I assumed Doug and his crew could handle it.
Well, you know what they say about assuming.
Upon arriving in Lincoln on April 15, the truckload looked as if it had been tossed into a giant blender. Boxes of unsecured books had been packed from floor to ceiling in the back of the truck, with lighter items such as boxes of fragile things such as dishes and seemingly sturdy pieces of furniture in front of that. Nothing whatsoever was secured. In transit, predictably, the books fell forward (they were heavy and unsecured — what did this crew think would happen?), damaging everything packed in front of them. (Doug’s response? «We’re not responsible for anything that happens after the truck leaves Marineview.»)
My mother’s cedar chest had two huge gouges in the top, the handles broken off and two decorative knobs destroyed DESPITE furniture pads. The handles were broken on my antique armoire. Multiple glass items and dishes that were packed in heavy-​duty boxes with excessive amounts of bubble wrap were smashed. My antique wood headboard was broken in half. My coat rack’s metal hanging piece was sheared off. The locks were sheared off on three different trunks. Framed photos that Doug’s own crew packed themselves had the glass shattered. The wardrobe boxes looked like pancakes, breaking many hangers. Several boxes that had been taped shut with multiple pieces of tape were ripped open on the side and top, with things spilling out of them. I could go on. (And yes, I can document all of this with multiple photos, most of which I sent to Doug.)
What was the most infuriating part about this $ 2,800 adventure (aside from the fact that it will likely cost me that much to replace everything they destroyed) was that, after viewing multiple photos of the damage, during a phone call on May 2 Doug basically blamed me for the problem, saying that I had «a ton of stuff» and «there was no other way to pack it,» and that «it was a freight truck, not a moving truck.» Oh, and that «we have no idea how the freight truckers drive» and «I told you you needed to have moving blankets.» (Which I did, although they didn’t prevent damages.) And I’d seriously doubt that these damages were due to how ABF drivers drove. It looks to be directly attributable to how the truck was packed.
Yes, I have a lot of books. Did I invite Doug and his crew to place boxes clearly marked fragile underneath the books? No matter what type of truck was being used — including, probably, a garbage truck — that wasn’t going to end well, particularly with a bunch of unsecured heavy boxes. The fact that Doug wasn’t at all apologetic and in fact was blaming me for the job his crew did was the final straw for me. I’d still be angry if he’d apologized for what I and others see as a shoddy, overpriced packing job. But I don’t need confrontational phone calls at my new job insisting that the fact that I have books and I expected them to be properly packed is an unreasonable expectation, and that L&L did nothing wrong, despite the professional opinions of others in the field.
According to common sense and the professional movers who unloaded the truck (who, by the way, charged $ 750 rather than $ 2,800 to unload it all from the UPack/​ABF truck and put it in storage), the proper course of action with multiple boxes of books would have been to build a base with the books on the truck, loading them in smaller stacks, putting lighter things on them, and somehow securing them. Instead, Doug’s crew thought stacking unsecured boxes of books up to the ceiling was a good idea and putting boxes of lighter things in front of them was a sensible idea, and he decided that telling me that it was due to my shortcomings and possessions was also a sensible course of action. I beg to differ. This is why I hired a moving company. It was my opinion that they’d be able to pack a truck properly with minimal, if any, damage.
I am in temporary housing at the moment and dreading going through the remainder of my boxes when I find permanent housing, as I’m fairly certain that I will be throwing multiple additional things away. I’ve been advised by several to bring legal action, but as Doug pointed out, the paperwork I signed would likely make that an unsuccessful venture.
I would have done far better if I’d just packed the truck myself.
If you’re moving from one Hoboken apartment to another and you don’t have anything too fragile, they can probably handle it. If you’re planning to go a long distance? It would be my advice to stay far, far away.

These guys were terrific! Doug got back to us immediately to give us a quote and work us into the schedule for a NEXT DAY move. Prices were better than reasonable. Fastforward to the next day and these guys were on time, efficient, very careful with all belongings and were super nice. Bing, Bang the whole job was done without any worries at all. If I could give them 6 stars I would.
Rest easy when you book this company to help with your move.

My wife and I booked moving help through U-Haul’s website and after days of not hearing from them we had to cancel the day before the move.
We called L & L and they were eager to help with less than a 24 hour notice. Luckily they had a cancellation and Doug was able to schedule us.
We only moved a couple blocks down the street but the crew couldn’t have been better. They moved everything from point A to point B in about 2 hours and the only reason it took that long was because there were 2 move-​ins going into the building we were moving out of. Awesome guys and had a great attitude. Highly recommend.

My 2^nd time using L&L movers and another great experience. Extremely professional, on time and very quick! They took the stress out out of moving and made it easy. Would highly recommend to anyone.

I do not have enough good things to say about L &L. Everything about the experience was positive. They were easy to communicate with, reliable, and hard workers. Wouldn’t hesitate to use them again for another move. If you live in Hoboken, this is the moving company to go with! I’ve used others and there is no comparison.

We moved from Reading, PA to Hoboken, NJ on February 2. The movers arrived early & they did a great job. All of the guys were so friendly. They made great time & did not milk the clock. Doug, the boss I think, was so helpful. I didn’t pack my closet correctly, so he helped me repackaged so my clothes would be unharmed. The guys were so friendly with my dog. I would highly recommend them if you need movers.

Moving is never fun, but L & L Moving definitely made it a much better experience. I cannot say enough what an incredible and timely job they did, and at a very fair price in comparison to other movers that I called — no hidden fees like many other moving companies surprise you with.
In the past, movers have never been on time. When I requested a morning move, Doug told me they would arrive at 7:30AM — and they were right on time.
They moved a 2 bedroom down two flights of stairs into a one bedroom about a mile away. Everything was moved with extreme care, yet the entire move was done in 2 hours.
I wasn’t even finished packing yet, so there was clutter everywhere and lots of things in their way but L & L still got the job done.
If you are moving anywhere around the Hoboken area, I HIGHLY recommend Doug and his team. Great job, thanks again guys!

I have used L&L to move a few times now, and every time the service is amazing. Doug and his «soldiers» are prompt and move quickly and efficiently. I will always use them when i move! They even let me do some handstands in the truck (once it was empty)! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND L&L!!!

Shortly after my review was posted, Doug reached out to me personally and discussed my concerns with me (largely addressing them in the process). To see this level of attention from a business owner *after* the fact speaks volumes to just how interested Doug is in growing a base of not just happy customers, but repeat customers.
To address the concerns I initially raised:
— Doug has assured me that the change on the day to flat rate is entirely optional, and that I can choose to be billed at the hourly rate.
— L&L *do* pack, but the packing is done ahead of time by a crew that specializes in packing. So, if you do see a need to have packing done, let them know ahead of time.
— The cash only policy I encountered was not the norm… it was a result of a temporary inability to process credit cards. I’m told that this capability will be restored shortly.
So, in summary, L&L employs very personable staff who treated my furniture and boxes with the care they deserved. L&L’s owners are reasonable folks who are attentive to the needs of their customers, even after the fact. I wasn’t impressed before, but I certainly am now. Bravo gentlemen!

Due to unfortunate circumstances I had to move twice within a week. Both times the movers were super quick and friendly. They wrapped all furniture carefully to make sure it didn’t scratch and the second move they promised to get me finished before the Rangers game +1! Doug and his crew did An amazing job and will definitely use them again in the future!

Lost a watch during the move, I called the office to see if it may have fell out of the nightstand drawer during transport. The crew, through all of their experience knew exactly what could have happened and told me to check behind the drawer because sometimes they flip furniture upside down after they cover it with their protective covers.
I would have never have checked in that spot if I did not call and inquire about it. They all definitely know their business!

I used to live in a 4^th floor walk up. When 4 guys showed up they were shocked by the amount of things to fit in their truck. Yet in 3.5 hours they managed to pack the truck and unload it in the new apartment. These guys moved fast and didn’t break anything. The 3.5 hours came in well under the quote I received from Doug. They were great to work with and would use them again in the future.

First time using L&L and I was completely satisfied. Lets start with the initial quote, Dough was able to accommodate to my schedule and stop by my place by 6:30 am. He was extremely punctual. The day of the move, they arrived early and were done moving all my things in the truck extremely fast. I was so happy I hired them since I was moving all of my things to storage. They were able to figure out the best way to accommodate all the furniture and boxes in a 5×15 storage area. I will recommend them 100%.

I had a great experience with L & L. We moved from two separate walk-​up apartments into a new place. L & L were extremely professional and were great to work with. They padded everything and even disassembled and reassembled furniture. They worked quickly and efficiently and had us in our new place under the estimated time. Everything made it in great shape and I would highly recommend using them for any Hoboken area move.

Doug is a life saver! No, I’m serious.
When the movers that we hired tried to scam us by doubling the price that they originally quoted, we were left with all our belongings on the sidewalk of our new apartment building. I called Doug at 3.15 pm to see if he had any guys available to help us. Doug PERSONALLY came to help us move the rest of our stuff! He showed up at 3.30 and his 3 guys showed up 15 mins later. They were done moving us in by 4.20. Without him we would have spent all night hauling boxes upstairs. I can’t begin to tell you how much I appreciate Doug’s willingness to help us out at the last minute. He definitely has our business if we ever move again. (Which will hopefully not be anytime soon!) I highly recommend this moving company.

I had a move from a studio in Hoboken to a 1BR in Jersey City. They helped with padding everything, taking apart the bed, reassembly. They were extra careful not to damage any of the furniture or the buildings.
Great crew and excellent work ethic. I will definitely use them again. Thanks Johnny, John, Danny and Vito.

Doug is definitely a pro. He was able to come extra early one morning before work to give us an estimate. His rates were good and he seemed confident so we had no problem choosing to go with his company.
The crew showed up early (almost too early, the building would not let them start because they were so early) and were ready to work. They used the time to come up and do all the pre-​work like wrapping and dismantling. As soon as the elevator was available, it was like watching a well oiled machine. The apartment was emptied out in no time at all.
The guys were just as great on the other end. They had all the stuff inside the house just as fast, and nothing was damaged. they assembled everything and Doug was able to actually knock a good amount of money off the quoted price because they were done early. He even had pointers for buying furniture and home renovations.
Doug and his crew were fantastic. As long as you’re clear about expectations as well as hours, you won’t find a better crew to move your stuff in the area.
