I called yesterday to place an order and they were completely terrible. The few times I have called they have had AWFUL customer service. SO rude! I’m never going back.

I just went to pick up food from Off The Wall in Hoboken and it was completely terrible. Young chow fried rice = NOFLAVOR. Mooshoo = wet noodles and the sauce that comes with it was separating and horrible. Veg dumplings 1 to 10 = 3. Overall this place is horrible and should not be in business. Off The Wall please close!!!

More like«off their head» Chinese. Terribly rude people always. For years now I see nothing has changed. Their food is not a great example of Chinese food. They always add too many vegetables and you always have to dig to find the«meat». It doesn’t matter if it’s chicken or shrimp or fish or pork. It seems like they count the exact pieces of meat they put in the dish. They also is so cheap with fortune cookies. I really don’t know why they would be that way over a silly thing like fortune cookies! I’m saying this only cause other places give you handful at the very least. This place will literally give you one of you order one entrée and if you order two you will get just two. I have avoided this place but then my friend wanted Chinese and this place was convenient so I agreed once again after two yrs of avoiding it to give it a try and like I said NOTHING has changed! Well except it’s gotten way worse than I remembered!

Don’t judge a book by its cover. Quite frankly, Off the Wall looks plain scary from the outside. However, the food and service have always been good. I should also mention that I really don’t go out of my way to order Chinese food, but there are several reasons why I like this place and frequent it for lunch. The lunch special is outstanding – a hefty portion for just $ 6. I’m very set in my ways so once I find something on the menu that I like, I usually stick with it. For me, it’s chicken and string beans in garlic sauce. The lunch special comes with rice and soup. The pork fried rice is good, and the egg drop soup is a little bland but edible. I usually get my orders for pick-up so I can’t comment on dine-in or delivery but I’ve only experienced fast service here.

Well the soup and appetizers were okayish. But that’s where it all ended. The spicy tsong chicken was made in barbecue sauce(where is the spice in the barbecue sauce) and chicken noodles apparently contained no noodles. Overall, when you are walking by the restaurant, just keep walking further.

The pan fried noodles are not edible. I ordered beef stew, and they gave me stir fried beef…

I love this Chinese restaurant! They have several options in every category from soups, to chicken and beef, or vegetarian. My favorite dish is the Buddhist delight with lightly fried tofu and mixed veggies– YUM! They also have free delivery and usually come very quickly.

This is the first review that I have written on Unilocal We were in town visiting relatives and Off The Wall was recommended. The food was substandard. The crab rangoon and shu mai were horrible. Sessami chicken and sweet and sour chicken were dried out and had very little taste. Moo shmu vegetables was nondescript. The only thing that was marginally edible was the pork chow fun. overall a very disapointing experience

Great place for quick, relatively cheap Chinese takeout if you’re in Hoboken. Nothing fancy, but some of their stuff is addictive good.

I been coming here since i first started eating Chinese food. Never had a complaint, neither have it had a bad meal from here. My favorite is the Boneless Spare Rib Tips and the Crab rangoon. Good quite atmosphere, with an open kitchen.

$ 5 lunch. $ 5 lunch! I work with international students in the area and this place is one I heard good things about often. I was not disappointed! For $ 5, they give you a substantial portion including soup and/or a drink. I enjoy the chicken or shrimp with broccoli and an egg drop soup. It’s a cozy little atmosphere perfect for lunch. The noodles are also delicious.

I don’t quite know what to make of Off the Wall. Maybe I’m being influenced by the fact that I’m currently laid up sick… but for the first time, I’m less then impressed. The dumplings are pretty good, but the pork fried rice is simply not a winner. The pork tasted like nothing. That’s not an understatement, there was zero flavor. Borderline impressive and I’m actually giving a star for that. I’m currently sipping away on some Won Ton soup, and it’s making my throat feel better and from what I can taste, is the typical Won Ton soup. That’s actually a good thing, as Won Ton soup is a staple. Oh one more thing, the food comes in plastic bags that are labeled from an Indian Restaurant in NYC. That’s just awesome.

Décor: The inside of this restaurant is quite small and can only seat around 10 – 12 people. Nothing special but a little nicer than most walk in Chinese food places. Employees: Helpful pretty friendly, its a walk in Chinese food place so you get what you get. Food: The food is pretty tasty. I have eaten at a lot of Chinese food places and find this one is one of the best fast cheap places in Hoboken. I usually always get the chicken and broccoli and this is the best hangover food! Prices: I always get their lunch special after a night of drinking and it costs around $ 5.50 for large plate of food, rice, and egg role. Greasy, cheap and delicious!

I’ve had lunch once from here. Only once. I ordered a small container of Vegetable Fried Rice for takeout, and it was probably the worst fried rice I’ve ever had. It looked — and, more importantly, tasted — as if they just took white rice, threw some vegetable scraps in, and poured soy sauce on it. The rice was wet from the soy sauce, and not so much«fried» as «heated up.» It was soggy, salty, & if I hadn’t been so hungry, it would’ve been inedible. And when they couldn’t make a simple, basic staple found in every Chinese restaurant, I couldn’t find a reason to go back.

Time for another round of Hoboken Chinese food reviews! First off, this place(compared to Cottage, Prescious, and Aroma) is a good 20% cheaper. What usually runs me 40ish dollars(post-tax, pre-tip) ran me under $ 30(again, pre-tip, post tax). Arrived 20 short minutes after ordering. Now… one problem. The soup I ordered was MIA. My issue is not the $ 1.50 I was charged… it’s the fact that it was missing. Just give me what I ordered, that’s all. When I called to complain, they asked«can we give it to you next time or do you want it tonight?» Translation: «We don’t want to be bothered to give you the part of your order we forgot, but we will if you make us.» Sorry, not acceptable. The correct answer is «sorry we messed up, we’ll send it right over.» On to the main event… Wonton Egg Drop Soup — couldn’t tell you. Paid for it, but it never showed up. Egg Roll — fine, was an egg roll. Spare Ribs — eh… kinda dry and not so flavorful. I’ll ask myself again why I bother ordering ribs from anywhere… they all kinda suck. General Tso’s Chicken — Well… some places overload this dish with brocolli. Some have a few spears. And some are all chicken, and nothing green. This place is all chicken. My issue is that this chicken is in the deep end of a General Tso’s sauce swimming pool. I mean, these things are submerged. Check out the picture. Pork Fried Rice — this was probably the best thing from here. It had that flavor throughout the rice like it was cooked in pure pork fat(which is an absolutely good thing). Really good fried rice by my standards. Up there with anything else in Hoboken. Roast Pork Lo Mein — Very solid. Better than most places in Hoboken, and really no complaints. What I will say is it got better with age. I enjoyed this as left overs more than the first time for a few days after. So the final verdict? Between the missing items(and attitude I got when I called to complain about it), and kiddie pool General Tso’s chicken, I probably wouldn’t order from here again, except for the fact the girlfriend said this was her favorite Lo Mein in Hoboken, and that I really enjoyed the pork fried rice. So… I might order again, minus the General Tso’s and Ribs, and hopefully plus the soup if they can remember. And once again… the search for good Chinese take out in Hoboken continues.

Okay, either I’m on crack or every one of these reviews comes from someone who works at the restaurant. And judging by the fact that their grammar is pretty good, I’d say the former must be correct. However, for any of you self-respecting Hobokenites looking for decent Chinese in this town, RUN — do not walk– away from this place. The food is so bad I actually thought of going there and giving it back to them — not asking for my money back, I just didn’t want it ruining my garbage. The fried rice — which one reviewer is clueless enough to recommend — lasted half a bite. the rest went straight into the garbage. We got the yeung chow and the shrimp smelled like it came out of the hudson. Even the rice itself had an odor that smelled like it was used to make tires. The Shrimp with Lobster Sauce was better than the rice because it was completely bland and only tasted like water. I’ve never seen a chinese place that serves Shrimp Toast with TARTARSAUCE?! Are you f’n kiddin’ me? What is this, Long John Silver? You serve duck sauce with shrimp toast. Jesus. The ribs were edible but had no bbq sauce on them and thus were dry. However, once again, anything that doesn’t take like it was cooked in the basement at Dupont and you’re ahead of the game. Never again.

Love this place for Chinese takeout. Their lo mein is really good — they give you a lot for $ 5.95(large) and it tastes great. It still tastes awesome even after you reheat it, and I’m not one to eat leftovers. I also tried the roast crispy duck. It wasn’t bad — they give you this giant container of black sauce as well as duck sauce packets, and I must say that the sauces actually go pretty well with the duck. Not the best, but surprisingly good. Their interior is so so– it’s what you think of when you see a Chinese takeout place, but it is cleaner than most of them I’ve seen. There aren’t pictures for you to see what you are interested in, but oh well. Their menu is pretty extensive actually — my mom noticed they have Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup(which I hardly see here) — I haven’t tried it yet, but I guess I will one day. Delivery is very fast too!
