Terry Schwarzwald, DMD Ecio Pozzi, DDS

My teeth were a mess when I first visited the office in 2010. Dr. Pozzi is kind, gentle and to put it simply… put me back together. I don’t have insurance, so they are kind enough to work with me financially. Not sure about Dr. Schwarzwald, but the office is great. I think the bad reviews are from people who have never visited a regular dental office. I just wish Dr. Pozzi was there more than once a week.

I waited longer than the whole appointment took. I hadn’t been to the dentist in years and although he said that my teeth were excellent, I think it should take longer than 15 minutes to clean them. Not to mention, both he and the secretary kept complaining about the other patients that came in that day.
If my insurance covers it, I’m going to go get a second opinion.

This was definitely the worst dentist I have ever been to, and I agree, 100% with all of the reviews. The office was run down and borderline dirty. Dr. Schwarzwald did not read my history OR ask any questions about my dental history. I have a relatively new crown on one of my front teeth and he made several faulty assumptions about it. When I attempted to tell him about its history, he repeatedly tried to grab my mouth — imagine him sticking literally pinching at my lip and putting his pointer in my mouth. I finally said, «Can you please stop doing that while I’m talking to you.» He stopped for about 5s and disregarded anything I said, constantly interrupting. It was incomprehensible and in hindsight, I should have left. He did not learn anything about my history, which is quite dangerous given he proceeded to try to make adjustments to the crown. In addition, my cleaning was rather aggressive, and at the same time, not thorough. He randomly cleaned tarter off of a few spots, going through my entire mouth in less than 5m. Needless to say, my teeth did not feel clean afterward. In addition, rather than actually doing an careful examination, using the light, mirror, and prodding, he relied on the x-​rays. He said «Nope, everything looks fine on the x-​rays,» when I asked. I was flabbergasted. Lastly, he did not floss, ask about my routine, nor offer feedback. What a joke! I’m definitely reporting him to the insurance panel ASAP.

Horrible! I would give no stars if that was an option. Called as a potential new client and Dr. Schwarzwald did not even greet me on the phone, the first thing out of her mouth was «what insurance do you have?». I then gave her the insurance company name and was asked for specifics, which I had no idea. I then asked for an appointment and was never called back. These people need to learn about customer service. BUH-​BYE.

If this quality of dental service is a standard across NJ area, I will be moving back to Boston, where such kind of work won’t be tolerated by the majority of dentists. 5-​min cleaning? Really? I clean my teeth every day for 5 min but a good hygienist spends at least 45 min do do a thorough job — that’s the difference between my bathroom and dental office!
I’d really, REALLY appreciate it a lot if someone could point me to a good dental office in Hoboken/​JC area… I’d rather buy a more expensive insurance than Aetna but I don’t want to be Dr. Terry’s client, no matter how convenient his location is for me.

I needed a new dentist within my new health plan and near my new home. I decided to give him a try. I know my gums are sensitive, every other dentist has told me so. I have to agree with the other reviews, it was like going to a butcher. I was in and out so quickly. I did not get a thorough cleaning, but I did have a lot of blood and gum pain from him being so incredibly rough. I have never had such an experience in my life. Having my wisdom teeth pulled was less painful than this regular «check up.» I was told I needed to see a periodontist for which I was given a referral. I would never go to someone he referred me to out of fear for something similar. I found a periodontist on my own with outstanding reviews and I will see what they have to say. I would highly suggest going somewhere else if you want a true cleaning and to not be in pain for days afterward. Very disappointed…

I’m soory for writting this but i had a feeling i visited butcher, and feeled like object, horrible expierence i ever had, only one good thing is waiting time;), very short wait, but not worse it. Think twise before you go.

I just switched insurance (DMO) and had to find a new dentist. It had to be in-​network, so I picked one in the town next to me hoping for the best.
Worst dentist ever. I went for a checkup & cleaning and I’ve never experienced so much pain in such a short period of time. He basically shoved stuff in my mouth during the x-​ray and then never bothered to go over them. He takes literally 1 mins to look at my teeth and pokes/​scratches the hell out of all my gums and then claims a whole bunch of stuff is wrong. Doesn’t bother to explain what (I ask after the 10 min process is over and he basically tells me to ask the periodontist). Goes on to clean my teeth in the most half-​assed way possible, taking about 5 mins, and once again causing an abnormal amount of pain. Rather than coming out feeling clean, I felt like someone punched me in the mouth.
I come back home and my gums are still sore and I see a bunch of very visible scratches. I remind you, this was just a damn checkup and cleaning. The one I get every 6 months without fail.

My new dentist after 20 years with my prior one. Great guy. Funny, puts his patients at ease. Thorough. Both my girlfriend and I have been going here for ever a year and have no complaints. Great supporting staff as well.

Had 3 excellent experiences here.
I haven’t met with Dr. Schwarzwald, but have been meeting with a young male dentist there.
Excellent because:
1) The appointments begin fairly promptly.
2) The receptionist is very nice and helpful. She quickly lets me know how much I owe for the services and when I had my wisdom teeth out and was in pain, answered my phone calls, even in the midst of a snowstorm! She answered my calls right away and took direct action to reach the dentist and help me with my wisdom teeth removal pains.
3) The dentist is very friendly and great at his job. He removed all 4 of my wisdom teeth at once and did it quickly while allaying my fear of the pains associated with this procedure. I felt very secure within his hands. He also did well in giving me advice as to how to deal with the after effects of this procedure.
4) The dentist assistants are also very friendly and helpful. One of them offered a lot of advice in how to take care of my wisdom teeth removal after care. She was also sweet and offered to let me squeeze her hand during the procedure.
One of the best dentist experiences.
