History

Established in 2011.

Xquisite was born in May 2011. It was a 10 year vision that was finally born. Xquisite’s aim is to excel in the world of hair coloring and styles. Learning the foundamental aspects of the business from family at an early age and being involved in a high level service business leading up to the opening gives us a proper spring board to carry out our plan.

Manager

Salon Manager & Lead Stylist. I’ve been a stylist for 16 years. My journey began in Peru, my native country and continued growth as a stylist when I came here 11 years ago. I have two amazing sons that are both in college in Peru. The ones I visit often and as I can. Since I really don’t have much spare time and like to keep busy, I spend my time working on growing in my career. I love doing hair and giving my clients the look they exactly want.

This place has saved me multiple times. The first time was 2 days before my wedding and my original stylist had crapped out on me. They were able to fit me in for a cut, color and blow dry and a bridal consult the day before I was getting married. My actual wedding they made me look amazing!
That fall they saved me again when I did a bad hot pink dye job on myself. Carol did a fantastic job fixing my hair, giving me a great style and color. I love this place, and I come from the Bronx to go here.

Milton and Carol are superb professionals in every way, and have changed my entire outlook on visiting the salon. Ever engaging and accommodating, Milton never fails to make me feel like I’m a welcome guest, and Carol’s warmth matches her talent for color and cuts. My hair has never looked so good, so consistently. The BEST!

These guys are the best! I’ve tried most of Hoboken’s salons and truly have found a home at Xquisite! Milton makes you feel welcome and is a master at scheduling (and rescheduling) and Carol gives the best cut and color I’ve ever had. She saved me from a poor box-​dye decision and I’ve never looked back since. You must use this crew!

My Roommate recommended I come try out the colorist here since I was unhappy with my current colorist. I had asked for an ombré and it came out great after having to sit in the salon for 4 full hours and 300 dollars later. After two washes the toner had completely lifted and i was left with a playboy bunny blonde bleached head. It looked terrible. It was not longer an ombré and just a solid bleached hair. It didnt even look blonde it looked white. I immediate called and begged them to get me in right away to fix the issue. They made me wait 4 full days to get me in. I couldn’t believe how inconsiderate the salon was on not getting me in right away and after spending as much time and money getting it done how poorly it was done.

I’ve been coming here for about 2 years now (after having a not so good experience at nameless salon across the street) and I absolutely love it! I’m always asked if I want water/​coffee/​tea upon entering and they hang my coat for me. Not to mention I live less than a block away. I always make my appointments with Krista. I’ve used her for cuts and blow outs. She is also a genuine and nice person! Highly recommend Xquisite!

Carol does a great job each time! Anything with hair– color, cut, highlights– I pretty much just give her a free hand. At my first appointment– about 3 – 4 years ago, she sat down with me for 10 minutes and talked about my hair, likings, dislike, lifestyle, etc. After that, I just walk in and tell her what I’m looking for and walk out a couple of hours later with my wish list.
Since she does such a great job for other clients as well, I’ve had a wait once for her– personally that’s not much of a big deal for me but it may be for others who don’t like waiting.
I took one star off because the prices have been going up steadily– since I like these folks, I say it’s because of Sandy. Even with the price increase though, with Carol, you get what you pay for– awesome hair!

Went in for a simple blowout and was told my appointment was at 5:45. I was sitting there until 6:30pm and still had no blowout — in that amount of time I could have washed, dried, curled, added in my own extensions, dyed it… you get the picture.
When I asked the dude at the front how much longer the stylist would be with the woman she had in the chair he wasn’t helpful whatsoever. The woman who was hogging my appt decided she wanted not only highlights but also tons of extensions (which lets get real wouldn’t have helped this woman’s cause).
They should have said something and when I expressed being upset about it all he said was «SORRY.» As if I was wrong for being mad? Screw this place — I should have received half off a service or something but no. Learn to do business morons.

A big thank-​you to Monique for taking the time to actually listen to what I want and executing it fantastically! I am petrified of getting my hair cut, thanks to a terrible haircut a few years back. Monique was very patient, and actually explained what she was going to do before taking off any hair.
I would definitely recommend this salon, and I would highly recommend Monique– especially for girls (or guys) who have anxiety about facing the scissors!

I’ve been coming here for over two years. The service there is remarkable and Carol has always do a fantastic job spending quality time with me and giving me a quality haircut at an affordable price. I also like to support my local shops. If you’re in the neighborhood you try walking in or just give them a call ahead of time and they will treat you right!

I used to love this place but the prices continue to rise. I am a male & a hair cut for men started off at $ 15. Then last year the price went to $ 20. Most recently went in last week & the price is now $ 25!!! On the website & in promotions it says the $ 25 cost of a men’s haircut includes a wash — I have never been offered a wash. They obviously want to get you in & out as quickly as possible, but it would be nice for them to offer a wash, especially since the prices have increased over 66%. Carol does a nice a job, but i’m sure her tips are decreasing with the bigger out of pocket cost to her male clientele. I would look elsewhere for services.

I went in for a wash and cut only, made this clear upon my arrival. My stylist, Carol, cut my hair then proceeded to style it stating «she just loved styling hair» making me assume I would not be charged. Not only was I charged for the style (an extra $ 18) she instructed the front desk to «give» me shampoo and conditioner that I did not ask for who then tacked another $ 30 onto my final bill. I had them take the products off and they acted confused an assumed I had requested them when I did not.
Overall they tried to charge me an extra $ 48 and did just an ok job on my hair. Not going back.

Excellent service, consistent cuts, and they actually listen to what you want.
Found this place last year and Cheli has been the only one to cut my hair since. I’m very specific and she delivers every time. She is also really friendly without being too over the top talkative. Gave it a 4 because it’s a couple bucks more than other places in the area ($ 20 for a men’s cut) but it’s well worth it.
Being able to make appointments online is a nice bonus. Lots of referral incentives and promotions too.

I came here with a LivingSocial deal for a single process color. The first thing I liked is that I was treated like a regular customer, not just tossed aside like I’ve noticed when you present your Groupons/​LS deals at other places. The décor inside is pretty and classy — black and white with some touches of color here and there. They had significant damage from Hurricane Sandy, but the remodel is fab. I was offered water/​coffee/​tea upon my arrival which is also nice.
I had Cheli as my stylist and she did a great job talking to me and figuring out what I wanted to do with my hair. She convinced me to also get a haircut — I really did need one, and I’m too easily persuaded, so I agreed. I’m glad I did. I’m very happy with both the color and the cut, and will definitely be back to see Cheli in the future.

After moving to Hoboken over 6 months ago, it took me a while to find a place where I felt good about getting my hair cut on a regular basis. Finally, I stumbled upon reviews for Xquisite that looked promising, so I decided to check it out. I have recently gone back for my third straight appointment and I couldn’t be happier. The staff is very friendly, attentive, and accommodating.
Ask for Cheli! She takes her time and pains attention to detail. She absolutely takes your thoughts into account so you will leave with a look you’re happy with. Appointments can be made both online and over the phone which is nice. I’m very happy my trial haircuts in Hoboken have come to an end.

I did not like my haircut at all. Carol left it a shapeless mess, with hardly any layers at all. She also blow-​dried my hair straight, even though I asked her to leave it wavy (which made it hard for me to assess my haircut until after I got home and styled it the way I normally do, which is WAVY). I will not be going back.

I get my haircut here all the time. The staff is friendly and I never have to wait too long (even when I dont have an appointment). Carol certainly cuts a good head of hair! This place is convenient and decently priced for a men’s haircut. Give them a try!

I’m apprehensive about writing this review because I don’t like to wait to get my haircut and want to keep this place on the DL. I’ve tried several other places in Hoboken. Buzz, 1st ave, Mr. L’s. Etc. they all disappointed. I decided to give xquisite a shot and would never go anywhere else. Carol is great! My wife also goes to Carol now for cuts and color. I highly recommend Xquisite to anyone fed up with the other salons/​barber shops in the area.
