History

Established in 1973.

We are the oldest independent pet shop in the Houston area. Opened in 1973, current owner, Eric Haug, started with the shop in 1975 and has been here ever since. Taking over in 1999, he takes great pride in not only the quality of the livestock, but also in his staff’s knowledge to help you pick the right pet for you and care for it properly.

Andy. Maddox, the manager, has been with us since 2010 but has been a customer since he was a child. He has a degree from Texas A&M University in Wildlife and Fisheries Ecology and Management and is always ready to help with your questions and needs.

I recently bought a retic Python from this place. They are by far the best store I’ve been to. Everyone was extremely friendly and answered any questions I could’ve had. My collie/​lab puppy even made friends with the micro pig applesauce. They have amazing prices, they are so knowledgable and it made for a great experience I’ll definitely be coming back!

Been going here for three years. The staff is great, knowledgeable, and very helpful. Bring the kids and they can check out all the exotics and help feed them too. Good selection and very healthy animals.

Many people have told to visit thus store and I have to tell them all thank you. The experience that I received here raises the bar for all other stores. The staff is so friendly and filled with knowledge. It was by far the best that I could have ever asked for. Andy is a gem and someone that is always open to helping you further your knowledge of your pet. Great selection of pets also, things that I have never seen before in a pet store. I would spend a day there just enjoying the people, pets and atmosphere. If you haven’t been there, they are open today. What’s stopping you. Thank you Pets-​A-​Plenty for all you do.

Had a great time at Pets A Plenty yesterday. We planned on getting 1 Pac Man frog and ended up coming home with 2! The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. All of the animals were in tip top shape and looked happy as ever :) we will definitely be back, this place deserves our business.

This shop is amazing… Eric the owner is just wonderful, he explains everything and makes sure all of your questions are answered. His staff is also a wealth of knowledge and everyone is happy to spend time chatting and passing on all they know.
They have some of the coolest animals in the shop from the large cayman that you can feed to the new mouse eating kookaburra. They also have Aunt Pookie… I’ll save that one for when you go to the shop.
From the time you enter you will have a blast looking at all the cool animals and socializing with all the awesome staff…
This is my go to place for all things reptile.

I have been going here for about the last two years and have purchased 4 snakes and a bearded dragon. I have never had any problems with the reptiles. Every time i come into the store the owner Eric answers all of my questions and is extremely helpful, he makes sure I have everything I need to care for them properly. I love going to the store to check out all the cool pets… for a couple bucks you can feed a caiman, Gabon Viper, Monitor or Monocled Cobra. It is a cool place to come and check out!

Ultimate Reptile Shop is just that; Ultimate. Any reptile or essential care item can be found here, but their specialty is snakes. The owner and co-​workers are friendly and knowledgable. You can handle or observe most specimens under their supervision. I personally can say a career in herpetology is time consuming, but rife in animal knowledge and rewarding experiences such as animal safety and travel opportunities.
The store is well stocked and maintained. A pleasant visit even if all you wish to do is stop by and look around.
