Silverschmidt Design Studio is Jewelry Making School and Gallery. The owner and her staff of instructors bring their combined years of experience in the field of jewelry design and fabrication to offer many exciting jewelry making and silversmithing classes and workshops such as:
Beginner Metalsmithing
Intermediate Metalsmithing
Forging Workshop
Stacking Rings
Spinner Rings
Cabochon Pendants
Cufflinks
Silver and Gemstone Earrings
Toggle Clasp Necklace
And more!
Many of these classes are taught in a «Ladies Night» or «Friends night» out setting with a casual atmosphere, where students are able to socialize with friends while creating a piece (or pieces) of jewelry they will be proud to wear or give as a gift.
Other opportunities for fun are adult and children’s birthday parties, summer craft and art camps for kids, «date nights», and team building and networking events for professionals.
Focus is on having fun while working in a professional setting with a high regard for the safety of the students and instructors.
We also participate with Salt Lake Gallery Stroll and showcase the art of up and coming local artists.
History
Established in 2013.
Amy Schmidt, a New York transplant who has been making jewelry in many different techniques and mediums for over 20 years, was disappointed upon moving to Utah and not being able to find a space that was dedicated to teaching the craft of jewelry making. After finding the odd class being offered in town and traveling to other parts of the country to attend specialized workshops in jewelry making she decided to open her own studio where locals with a desire to learn could take classes and make use of a studio outside their homes. In the short time the studio has been open a small community of makers has formed where new students are learning techniques, ideas are being shared and friends are being made.

Business Owner
Amy is a New York transplant who has been making jewelry, in many different techniques and mediums, for over than 20 years. She has worked in the fashion industry since graduating from Fashion Institute of Technology and is fascinated by the way fabric and metal can behave in much the same way, taking form from a flat sheet to a dimensional garment or piece of jewelry. She continues to explore the possibilities engrained in fabric and metal on a daily basis.
