Mr. Chortani is the best plumber in NYC — a trained ELECTRICALENGINEERWHOTHINKSLIKE A PROPERTYOWNER. Desperate for the holy grail — an honest, lightening responsive, excellent, fairly priced plumber — I scoured Unilocal reviews, Angie’s List, HomeAdvisor and the internet with concerns about my boiler, called innumerable plumbers and came up disappointed. During an ice storm, I called Mr. Chortani. Mr. Chortani called back 5 minutes later and arrived at my house 30 minutes later. Unlike other plumbers, he did not zoom in on the most expensive, temporary bandaid solution — he actually took the time to carefully assess and test each facet and provided a thorough assessment of options. He intuitively understood my concerns and overdelivered on every element — shockingly reasonable pricing, walked through each step and actually taught me how the parts worked, and followed up later in the evening. White glove service! I was amazed. On top of being honest and professional, he is hilarious, upbeat and personable. Mr. Chortani has great integrity. If I could give him 5 more stars, I would.

I came home from a rough international trip to broken heating in 30 degree weather and immediately searched for a vendor who was quick, honest, priced right and performed an excellent job. I called Mongi Chortani and he was on the scene within an hour and fixed our boiler’s damper. He bought the part with him as well after asking our boiler model over the phone. Previously when our boiler had this problem, another technician did a rough manual override that didn’t hold up but Mongi made a fix and also gave us a guarantee. UPDATE: It broke again and we couldn’t get a hold of him and got it permanently fixed from somewhere else. It was an electrical problem.

I’m a property manager so it’s extremely important we find vendors who not only are competent but also who are trustworthy. And, Mongi definitely meets both criteria. A lot of vendors will try to overcharge the client, hoping the client won’t notice. But, Mongi is honest. I was impressed.

Mongi(Chortani) installed Fujitsu Mini-Split air conditioning in our top floor brownstone apartment. There are many reasons I found his work ‘as good as it gets’. The price was $ 7−10k less than what I was quoted by many local AC companies. He was very flexible. We wanted a pretty specific installation and were not willing to compromise on certain things which made his life harder. He brought two guys with him the whole first day even though he only needed the extra guy to help get the unit onto the roof. He made suggestions where I could save money even from his already low price like sand and paint on my own which for some people is no big deal. The job was finished in two days, my apartment came through unscathed, and I’m many thousands of dollars more richer than I though I would be when I first started looking for contractors.
