Animal Eye Guys

My puggle, Cannoli had a growth on his eye. In January it was small and hidden under his lid. By February it was much bigger and exposed. I was frightened and contacted my good friend who is an eye dr. She suggested taking Cannoli to an animal eye doctor. I didn’t even know they existed! I checked Unilocal and saw a review from a fellow Unilocaler for one in Deerfield. She gave it glowing reviews but there were several negative reviews, which prompted me to keep searching. That’s when I came across Animal Eye Guys. Catchy name, great reviews across the board on Unilocal and Google, and in my hometown Holly-​hood!
I called and spoke with a very nice man named Simon. He scheduled my appointment with no problem ($ 95 consultation). I arrived early for my appointment and filled out paperwork. Several other owners/​dogs came in while we waited and put my mind at ease telling me that Dr. Swinger was the best. We were finally called into a room and it was lined with several decorative Pug plates. For me it was a sign that I was in the right place! Dr. Swinger came in and examined Cannoli. It was a tumor– most likely benign but he wouldn’t know for sure until it was removed and sent for pathology. Dr. Swinger said I could leave Cannoli to have in freezed off but I wasn’t mentally or financially prepared to do that so I scheduled the procedure for the following Monday.
Procedure Day: I’m super nervous but again I’m in the waiting room with various pet owners including a woman who saved a pigeon with pox that impacted its vision. Dr. Swinger had been treating it for about a month with her. Wow a pigeon! I decided to wait at the office during the procedure. Cannoli has separation anxiety and it wasn’t worth going anywhere for the hour it would take. After it was over Dr. Swinger came out to tell me everything went fine before he was whisked away into another room to see another patient. This guy is in high demand and has more than 1 location! His intern gave me medicine and instructions and we headed home.
That was Monday afternoon. Tuesday was seemingly normal but by late Tuesday evening the vomiting started. A lot of it. I was up all night cleaning it up. Of course I called as soon as they opened and was told to discontinue to the Meloxicam, which was to help with his eye swelling. He continued to vomit and then the bloody stool started. I called again and Roxanne said they would call something in for his stomach. I went to the pharmacy the following morning and they did not have the script. My first instinct was to be mad at the office but I called and reached Simon again. The office keeps detailed notes on each patient and they called and noted the name of the pharmacist they spoke to! Bottom line is the pharmacy screwed up but Simon called while I was standing there and I had the prescription within 5 minutes.
It’s been 7 days since the initial procedure. Cannoli is finally feeling better. He’s eating again and we’re just waiting for the swelling to go down naturally. We have a follow up visit in 3 weeks. I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Swinger and his staff. They are top notch and that’s why they’re busy and have stellar reviews.

Two years ago my Chihuahua Cujo got a scratch on her cornea. Her eye was bleeding and she was in a lot of pain.
My vet recommended Doctor Swinger and I was able to get an emergency appointment.
Dr Swinger and his team were extremely compassionate and kind to myself and Cujo.
I saw them at Hollywood Animal Hospital which is located right off the highway and has a big parking lot.
Emergency surgery was required for an cornea transplant. Her eye was completed saved and her vision is very good,
The surgery was performed so well that today it is hard to tell which eye had the surgery on it.
I would HIGHLY recommend him and his team.

Dr. Swinger saved my yorkie’s eye. My poor Chewy had an eye laceration due to a cat. We were all so scared and nervous for Chewy. Dr. Swinger was very professional and gave us reassuring odds that Chewy would keep his eye. The surgery was performed that night, and after a few months of healing and medication, Chewy is completely normal. Thank goodness we have Dr. Swinger in our community! He is the best. My 9 yr old shih-​tzu had developed a corneal ulcer and corneal edema. I was referred to another eye specialist by my vet; however, I decided to use google to find another Dr. And came across The Animal Eye Guys. I made an appointment at the South Miami location with Dr. Delgado.
Dr. Delgado was very thorough and explained exactly what my dog’s condition was and the options we had. I chose the less expensive surgery option and today was the day of the surgery.
I am so happy with this place, Alex was extremely helpful with me, Dr. Delgado took time to call me right after the surgery and also took the time to see me when I picked her up.
I definitely recommend The a Animal Eye guys for this type of medical service if your pet was ever in this need.
