Dr. Deckelbaum wanted to perform surgery on our dog’s bladder, before considering other less invasive alternative treatments. We went for a second opinion and our dog had no «debris» in his bladder, and the walls of is bladder were normal. Even if he had stones, there are 2 types, one can be treated with a special diet. If the diet doesn’t work then most likely the stones would need surgical removal. This is if there is anything in the bladder, which the ultra sound at second vet did not show. Dr. Deckelbaum was basing the surgery on the tech’s report that she noticed«debris» in the bladder. Two other vets didn’t know what he meant by «debris». Dogs can have stones or crystals in the bladder. So glad we had the sense to go for a second opinion, he seems knife happy. Beware ! His bedside manner leaves a lot to be desired. He tends to talk down to the pet owners.

Dr. Deckelbaum, at Cooper City Animal Clinic, is guilty of extreme price gouging and pushing severe amounts of pressure onto pet owners. I had brought my cat to Cooper City Animal Clinic after she had been severely injured. We rushed into the clinic and she was taken to the back immediately by one of the front desk personnel. We were not told that they were preforming xrays or giving our cat any medication at this time as well as any pricing for all possible procedures. About 30 minutes later we were lead into a consultation room and told that Dr. Deckelbaum would be with us shortly. He told us that he had done a few xrays and gave the animal medication for the pain. He stated that her tail was broken and the surgery would be $ 2,500 minimum to amputate it. I was in complete shock and said we unfortunately do not have the money at this time for the procedure. He gave us an ultimatum and stated we must put euthanize her in that case. I asked if we could take her out of his care to look for other options and hospitals with prices that were more feasible. At first he completely refused to give my cat back until I pay him $ 500 for the x-rays and medication he gave her. My fiancé calmly stated that we do not have that kind of money at this time. That is when Dr. Deckelbaum started screaming and stating how we should have had the money and he will keep our animal until he receives his payment in full. After a few minutes of pleading with him, he decided if we came back with $ 200 he would release our animal to us. We later came back with the money and retrieved our pet. Months later, a notice came for $ 300+ dollars owed to the hospital. We took our animal to Balasky’s Animal Hospital and were quoted a rate of only $ 350 for her to perform the exact same procedure on our pet. Dr. Deckelbaum has had numerous accounts of doing the same exact thing to other customers. Save yourself the agony of meeting this crooked man and go to Balasky. They are complete angels there and actually cared about my pet. 0⁄0
