The Event Decorating Academy® is the first and foremost school that offers a comprehensive event decorator training program under one roof.

Do not be fooled by our imitators who claim they can teach you with videos or an instructor who builds décor while you watch in a seminar, or companies who offer seminars with the sole purpose of selling you equipment. Many of these imitators work out of rented post office boxes at the UPS store or Mailboxes Etc. and lack the facilities to offer comprehensive training.

We are the only organization that is permitted to issue the Certified Event Decorator® designation to those who successfully complete the courses and skill tests.

The Event Decorating Academy is the only school that students can achieve the advanced Master Event Designer™ certification.

Our school is fully equipped with the latest equipment and materials.

History

Established in 2007.

The Academy is run by Carmen Ballering, an award winning professional event decorator whose work has appeared on numerous television shows. Only at the Event Decorating Academy can you learn the hands on skills you need to succeed in this fun and exciting business including fabric draping, balloon décor, props, lighting, centerpieces, floral and so much more including the important business aspects such as marketing and pricing. You can only become a Certified Event Decorator® by attending the Event Decorating Academy and passing a written and hands on test.

Business Owner

The Academy was founded in Milwaukee, WI in 2007, by Carmen Ballering. Carmen is an award winning event decorator who did work for major corporate clients, such as Kohls and Estee Lauder. She opened her first party and gift shop in 1991. Carmen had owned Precious Times, a floral and gift basket shop at Southridge Mall in Greendale WI and also owned Pretty Weddings and Events, LLC, a decorating firm that also did work as Balloons Milwaukee, LLC.

Carmen’s work has been featured on numerous tv shows such as Deco Drive, Despierta America, Sábado Gigante as well as events such as the Miami International Film Fest and the Jill’s Gold for Life on Palm Island. Many of these videos are posted on our video page

In 2009 we moved the Event Decorating Academy, LLC to the Midtown Mall /​Wynwood area of Miami. Two years later we bought our present location in Hollywood, FL, which is about 15 minutes north of Miami Beach. We extensively remodeled the Hollywood location before opening at this new loc
