Magic & Wine: David Minkin’s Evening Of Enchantment

Very fun show! We had such an awesome time at the show. My boyfriend and I attended the Magic & Wine Show with another couple and we had a blast. When you arrive (for about an hour or so) you taste 4 different wines and the appetizers were pretty good. Then for the show you actually sit on barstool on the stage at M3 Live. Only tip regarding the show is try and sit in the front. I am fairly short, and we were three rows back so it was kind of hard to see. Overall, it was a great experience and I would recommend it as the perfect date night!

We took our teenagers to see David’s show one Friday night and we all had so much fun! What a different and unique experience! We started off with appetizers that were plentiful and wonderful. Next we moved to four flights of wine for the tasting. I have been to many wineries and I wasn’t expecting such great wines to be served, but they were so good. Next we moved to the stage where we all were able to witness David and his amazing magic. Wow! All
I have to say is «impressive»! We all felt that way. He even used our wedding rings as part of the show, and we couldn’t believe our eyes. Highly recommend seeing David for a new and exciting thing to do!

My Husband and I attended the Magic and Wine Tasting event last Friday in Anaheim and it was so fun! I could not participate in the wine tasting portion because I’m pregnant but husband really enjoyed his wine and I enjoyed the food. The magic show itself was captivating and entertaining, we enjoyed every minute of it. I would definitely recommend attending this show.

One of my dearest friends was celebrating a special milestone birthday and I wanted to plan a unique evening out. Of course I hopped on Unilocal months in advance to check out options. Even with the great reviews I was unsure what to expect. Glad I decided to trust my fellow Unilocalers on this one because it was a very magical evening. The wine hour before the show was a nice precursor to the main event. Unfortunately I was unable to partake in the wine that night. However, you were told about each of the wines in detail (which I heard were excellent) and the accompanying hors-d’oeuvres were delicious. As for the show, there were skeptics abound in the audience and even the ladies in my group tried to figure out how Mr. Minkin did his tricks. Oh jaded Angelenos! Sometimes you just have to suspend your disbelief and be like a kid again thinking anything is possible and magic is real. Thankfully there weren’t any rabbits being pulled from hats. Mr. Minkin had a really good sense of humor, but kept everything classy. He even intertwined the themes of time and preciousness of life in his performance. Now here’s where the real magic came into play. The birthday girl in our party does not like to be fussed over at public establishments (no Happy Birthday songs by waiters or spotlights on her). So we did not play it up this evening. Towards the end of the show, what do you know? A volunteer from our group was asked! I had no choice, but to call out the birthday girl which I was secretly hoping I could do all night. The crowd got to wish her a happy birthday, Mr. Minkin did a beautiful levitation using an item of hers and she ended up having a memory to cherish (one that despite her insistence on not wanting to be in the spotlight hopefully made her feel special). After the show, Mr. Minkin graciously thanked and met with all the audience members. Throughout the entire evening his staff were so accommodating and kind. My friends and I indeed felt transported back to our childhood selves laughing with each other and enjoying the magic of our friendship as well as the enchantment of this evening.

Absolutely stellar guy and stellar show. I hope he is able to keep this show running for 100 years. A great date event and a gem of a show.

Excellent show. Appetizers was very good
Nice variety and combination. We had 5 flights of wine. First two was white. Last two were red and the fifth could be any wine you wanted. They did a very good job at explaining each glass of wine. I felt like I was at a wine tasting lol. Oh and the appetizers was all very good. Especially those stuffed mushrooms. Super delicious.. I must have eaten at least 5 or more. :)
David’s magic show is up close and personal. He actually interacts with his audience so that you can see everything. They ask you to sit up on the stage with him. I actually saw him perform in Anaheim, California. It’s where he performs every friday. He also is a very funny guy. I don’t want to tell you the show but let’s just say he was able to tell me what card i was thinking about and that was from my seat. That was pretty impressive!
His assistant Caroline was very nice and informative. This is perfect for Date night or just hanging out with family and friends. I would highly recommend this show to Tourist and locals. I even saw two kids in the audience enjoying the show. Minus the wine of course. Wow I’m so happy to be an adult I get to enjoy a good show and adult beverages. lol. So enjoy the show.

You guys… this is seriously the real deal. My husband and I were BLOWN AWAY by David’s unbelievable gifts. You will not regret the decision to join him for an evening… trust me. The wine tasting was just the icing on the cake. We can’t wait to experience David’s jaw dropping show again!

Excellent close up magic and mentalism. The setting is a 1920’s era theater on Vine. The evening starts with a few wines and some light food– nice cheeses with crackers, some chicken and some beef satay etc. The room is open air (at least in the summer) and very relaxing– a dozen or so seating areas with couches and chairs.
I really enjoy magic and have been to the Magic Castle several times. Almost always when watching a close up magician from, well, close up, you can at some point during their act notice a hand movement that should have gone unnoticed or see something else you are not supposed to see,. Not this time. I watch very carefully because I want to see near flawless execution and as far as I could tell it was all flawless.
The theater is small so you don’t have to worry about getting a seat up front (a few people started arguing over whether or not you save a seat for other people). Anywhere you sit you will have a good enough view to see some fantastic illusions closeup work performed. My wife and I will be back!
One «warning” — the show sell out quickly (because they the audience is limited to about 60) so if there is a date you really want make sure you check the website frequently and then when seating is available jump on it. It took me 3 months or so of missing dates to finally get in.

Saw David’s show in Anaheim on 6÷5÷15. He was fantastic. Close up magic at its best. Lots of audience participation and involvement. You need to see him to believe it. You won’t be disappointed and you will have a lot of fun. The wine and appetizers were a nice touch too.

Awesome! What a fun evening we had. You can’t go wrong with wine, appetizers, and simply the best close-​up magic around! We have seen David many times at Magic castle and at the Bardot in Hollywood. This was his first new show in Anaheim. He just keeps getting better. The M3 Live center is a great venue with good ambiance. It’s a wonderful evening which makes a great date or gift, just a really fun evening out with friends. We highly recommend it and will be going again.

One word: amazing. David’s up close magic was spectacular and original. He has an impressive ability to connect with individual audience members and made sure to include anyone who wanted to participate. Definitely recommended! Will be seeing him again!

Magic and wine is one of the best concepts ever created, not only do you get mentally played with but get an abundance of happy juice at the same time… Plus a great mixture of cheese, kabobs and fruit. Needless to say this place is magical from the ambiance to the hosts, the location and the décor all have the perfect touch (bottomless wine, well it seemed like it) …David is incredible and very funny! I was surprised how intimate the show was, it was magic in your face and left us all with a question mark on our forehead!!! I was looking for a unique outing and this place did not disappoint. Great job to David and his team, keep up the GREAT WORK AND THE MAGIC ALIVE! we will definitely recommended it to all and we’ll also be coming back for more of his amazing performance!!! Dude you are a master at your craft and I commend you!

The perfect date night. Fantastic wines and appetizers for the first hour and then the most incredible close-​up magic show. It is very intimate and David is funny. It feels like you are at a party with friends at David’s house. And we still don’t even understand how he did all the amazing tricks.

We had sooooo much fun!!!
My bf loves magic so I bought him these as a gift. We’re not much into wine and the red was vile to us cheap sweet moscato drinkers (we’re unsophisticated) but there was plenty of food (cheese crackers skewers bread bruschetta grapes samosas) to keep us full. The pours were generous and the white wine was pretty good.
The magic show was awesome. He got the audience involved and we were even lucky enough to get a souvenir which made the little kid in my bf very happy though he wouldn’t admit it. My bf loves magic and knew a lot of the tricks but there were sooo many that even he was impressed and stumped at times. Overall experience very worth it. And you get to sign up for an invite at the coveted Magic Castle afterward!!! Very cool!!!

DAVID MINKIN is the KING OF UPCLOSE MAGIC! If you are visiting LA, this is a MUST SEE.
I had seen him a number of time at the Magic Castle and was BLOWN AWAY. So when I knew I was going to be able to get an entire evening with him, I was beyond thrilled.
The night starts in a gorgeous Hollywood building where you sip wine, nibble and chat with friends. It had that old Hollywood feel.
When the magic started, my girlfriends and I sat up in the front row. I saw it all up close and personal and STILL COULDN’T BELIEVE my eyes! Was I really seeing things appear and disappear and crazy number calculations turn into some tangible? How does he do that??? Seriously, HOW DOES HE DO THAT.
His show is truly MIND BLOWING.
David Minkin is by far the most talented up close and personal magician I have ever seen. Don’t come to LA and not see this show!!! You will be so happy you did!

How have I never reviewed this before?! I saw David Minkin’s Magic and Wine in August of 2013 and it was incredible! The tickets are pricey so I researched David Minkin ahead of time and even watched some of his videos and tricks online (more on that in a minute). We arrived and everyone was well-​dressed and friendly. We loved the wines and cheeses (and chocolate during intermission) and had a lovely time during the wine tasting ahead of the show. We wished we had gotten to do this at the Malibu winery, but the Bardot was awesome nonetheless. We got in line quickly and managed to get seated in the front row (score!). David was engaging and entertaining and involved the audience (only 3 rows of seats, staggered height so everyone can see) in his tricks. He chose me for a trick involving a ring I was wearing and since I had seen some of his magic online, I already knew what trick it was going to be when he picked me because of my ring so I paid very close attention to what he was doing (and had been paying attention to the big prop that would be used in the trick since we first sat down, because again, I knew what that trick would be) and I STILL have no idea how he did it. I was blown away! Seriously, incredible!
The show was great length (though I could have watched him all night!) and so much fun. David was very friendly with everyone. He’s an incredible, non-​gimmicky close-​up magician. You will leave impressed with every trick! Since we went to M&W, David put us on his mailing list to get invited to the Magic Castle every time he performs. We went last year, but didn’t get to go this year (hopefully he’ll perform again this year so we can go!). He was the only magician we had to wait two shows to get into at the Magic Castle, he’s that good! Most of his performance was the same as M&W, but still incredibly impressive and engaging. I knew what was coming in the tricks and still didn’t see him do the sleight of hand.
David Minkin is by far the best close-​up magician we’ve ever seen. If you’re on the fence about seeing his show, just go, you won’t be disappointed! We’re planning to take our parents when they come into town and have talked about going with another set of our friends in the coming weeks. You’ll love it!

Magic & Wine was a fun departure from the usual dinner and a movie. I enjoyed the eventfulness and sense of occasion enhanced by the moody and intimate ambience of the Bardot.
The service was attentive and congenial. I felt very well taken care of by the staff.
The wines were delicious and the pours were generous.
Mr. Minkin was indeed a very engaging performer with pretty good comedic chops. I was transfixed and laughing the entire evening. I couldn’t figure out how any of the tricks were done which frustrates me because I’m one of those people who always wants to know the secret.
If you know someone who loves magic or you want to do something a little different on a Saturday night, I highly recommend Mr. Minkin’s show.
Some things to note: Parking is $ 15 and highly recommended. It’s Hollywood and cars get towed left and right in a matter of minutes. I printed out my tickets at home but it turned to be unnecessary because there was a complete guest-​list. There’s a short intermission; you can get a refill on wine and stretch your legs. And yes, you’re required to return to your original seat. Otherwise, being short and near-​sighted, I would have tried to swipe a closer seat :)

If your looking for something interesting to do with your loved one and you are just bored of doing the same thing such as dinner and a movie, I highly suggest you check out his show. I had the privilege to get to see Minkin’s outstanding performance firsthand in a private show for my proposal due to my fiancés romanticism. He astounded my friends and me and I just knew I had to go visit his show one day.
I ended up purchasing two tickets to Magic and Wine for the hubby’s birthday. They first start you off to relax and unwind with couple of wines and appetizers which includes fruits, snacks, crackers, skewers, and etc. They also explain the wine in a detailed manner. After you get a little tipsy, they then lead you into a separate room to enjoy the magic show.
I thought that since I already saw him perform once, I wouldn’t be as impressed. But I was wrong. I sat in the front row and I watched him intently without blinking to make sure there was no funny business. There was none and he performed perfectly. I think he sold his soul to the devil. HAHA I’m just kidding but yes, He is That good at Magic.

What a night! As all other reviewers have made clear, David puts on an amazing show. He’s very personable, does a great job interacting with the crowd, and performs amazing tricks. He greeted everyone on the way out, and is very friendly.
But in addition to the fantastic show, the wine tasting before is a ton of fun! The wine is great, and everyone is very friendly and fun.
Strongly recommended for anyone looking for a great night out in Los Angeles!

Simply memerizing!
Came here tonight to cash in on a present from XMas. The wine portion of the evening was well worth the admission. Allen and Caroline were both friendly and knowledgeable. After an hour of wine tasting, we were led to the room where David performed his show. I don’t want to ruin it for anyone, but take a look at my rating and you can tell that I walked away impressed.
The settings were intimate since only a limited # of seats are sold each evening. The illusions were refreshing and different than others I’ve seen in Vegas; it was really amazing to see a master magician at work. I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a place to celebrate that special ocassion.
