Description

Specialties

Happy Hour: Monday-Friday, from 5−7pm. Enjoy $ 5.50 appetizers and $ 4.50 draft, wine, and well drinks.

English food and comfort– it’s a home away from home for the lads, and a great place to unwind after the long workday. a shepherd’s pie and a Guiness in front of the fireplace on a rainy day hits the spot! or for the other 350 days of the year, a lounge on the 1920s Spanish style courtyard is a good hiding place from what’s outside the gates.

History

Established in 1982.

The proprietors realized there were no other British Pubs in town and being that propietor Kim Gardner was English and played in the British Rock invasion of the 1960s with names such as Ron Wood, Eric Claptan, and Rod Stewart, he really enjoyed a good pint or two. He decided him and his wife would open their own pub. His wife had at the time owned a shoe store called «Lilly Blue» on Santa Monica and had also owned a successful retail store in the New Orleans French Quarter. Together with Paula’s savy business skills and Kim’s enjoyment of drinking and hosting — was created the Cat and Fiddle! It has always been a family run business and now their children are very active in the day to day restaurant. The eldest daughter when she is not bartending, has carried on her father’s music talent and plays bass and tours. The twins, one a published author and currently consulting for another restaurant in Hollywood, and the other a personal trainer and completing her Masters.

Meet the Business Owner

Paula G.

Business Owner

Paula Gardner, once married to a London musician named Kim, was influenced by his involvement in the British invasion of the 60s and 70s and bands such as The Creation, The Birds, and Ashton, and Gardner & Dyke. They met in New Orleans where Kim was recording an album with Jackie Lomax and George Harrison and where she owned the first and only vintage clothing store in the French Quarter called The Cocky Fox. Kim and Paula eventually decided to move to Los Angeles and marry, while continuing with their respective careers. In 1982, Paula became pregnant with twins and Kim decided to open a pub in the Hollywood area because there wasn’t one! This same year, the first Cat and Fiddle was opened at 2100 Laurel Canyon Blvd. A few years later, due to overwhelming success, they were forced to move to a larger and more commercial location-6530 Sunset Blvd-and the rest is history…

Today, the Cat and Fiddle is run full-time by mother-daughter team Paula and Ashlee Gardner.
