Holyoke Turn Verein

Came here for a high school wrestling team fundraiser. It’s situated in a less than desirable section of town but oddly close to an elementary school. Based solely on its name, I literally had no idea what it was. I’m sure it is old timey language that means something like gathering place but the reality is that it is a really strange dive bar with a bowling alley attached. I didn’t spend too much time there but there were definitely some regulars at the bar. I peaked in on the bowling alley side where the kids look like they were having fun. If I hadn’t attended with several local law-​enforcement officers I’m sure I would have felt much less safe. However, drinks are cheap, people were nice and I got home alive. That’s what I call a win-​win!
