Comfy bed, fridge and micro in regular room not kitchenette, good a/c in room, space for your trailer, overnight dock space, cool bar, rocking chair on your patio, gas and launch for your boat, cheap beer, this place has everything you need in life. Came for scalloping. So happy. Will be back.

We went on a slow night, but usually they have live music. The boiled shrimp called«Slap Yo Mama» was SOGOOD! We also tried the fried pickles which were average. I would skip the fried green tomatoes, nobody at our table liked them. We all got wings and it took prob 30 – 40 min for them to be ready. There were only about 10 of us there so it was super slow. Not sure how long it would have taken if it was busy? I would love to return on a warm night because the location is right by the water. I am sure it’s awesome along with the live music. Staff was very friendly and def a local crowd.

aka — «The Shed» Live music, fried dill pickles, buffalo wings, sports on TV, and beers that’ll cost you like $ 1.50 all in an outdoor riverside setting near the docks. What else could you possibly want in life?

This is a very cool place on the Homosassa River under a large covered outdoor seating area, hence the name«The Shed». The food(all fried) is very good and the prices are great! Draft beer by the pitcher or cup and the dress is very casual. Well behaved dogs are welcome too. The parking is a little challenging, but they own the whole area including the adjacent motel so you might have to be creative parking on busy day’s and nights. Lots of seating room and great atmosphere for relaxin with the local friendly folks.

This place is clean and the staff are very accomodating. The only drawback is the parking. If you are bringing a boat & trailer there’s very little room to manuver let alone park. The tiki bar(«The Shed») is also a must do. They are beer & wine only & offer some bar food. Good service, live music and crawling distance to your room make it a great place to go! Did I mention parking sucks? If the owners are listening, you need to be more accommodating to your room guests by restricting parking of customers at The Shed to that separate lot. With that said this is the best stay on the river! Our group always has a blast here! Update 6÷21÷15 Everything pretty much the same except the parking for hotel guests is lacking a little more. Our group only brought 2 boats, there’d typically be 6 – 12 car & trailer combinations. The Shed & Mac Rae’s is sti the best place to stay & best value overall in this area. Update 2÷27÷16 I guess because I’ve rarely visited here in the colder times of the year, I am kind of surprised by how little traffic there has been. Even The Shed was very low key so far. They seemed to have some customers at The Shed and heard the band doing a sound check on the PA system before heading over to La Casa for setting up my nieces wedding. I rented two rooms at MacRae’s and had no trouble shortening our stay without penalty of a late cancellation. To me that speaks volumes about the office management(Wendy & Lynne). I also booked rooms next door at Riverside Resort(who’ll never get a nickel of my money again) for some other guests. *Notes for fishing enthusiasts & pet owners* Now that I know that Mac Rae’s has(albeit very short lived) a «slack season», I’ll likely make it a winter fishing destination. Usually I go to Suwannee for brackish/saltwater/freshwater combo fishing, there are more possibilities to catch an occasional snook(I probably should’ve kept quiet about that), butalargemouth bass here are far less available here. There’s other hotels in Homosassa to stay, but MacRae’s remains my favorite. If you’re bringing your dog or cat you’re out of luck, the only hotel I know of is the Oasis.

MacRae’s is the neat little hotel.(We’ve never stayed there.) The Shed is their bar and it is wonderful. It is a simple little honky tonk kind of place and I enjoyed every minute I was there. I’d love to go back. Naming it The Shed is an over statement. There are no walls, it should be named The Roof. The bar is located right on the docks of the Homosassa river and just about every seat has a view of the river. If I remember correctly. I bought a pitcher of beer, rum & coke, and two beer koozie’s for under $ 10.00. Drinking cheap drinks on a dock, what more could you ask for…

Cool little hotel with a great bar right on the river. Stop by and have a drink on your way back from fishing. Favorite place of locals, fisherman and bikers. Cheap cold beer, live bands and great fishing tournaments.
