Probably one of the most pushy places I’ve ever seen. The employees are shouting«free samples» at everybody as they walk by. They seem almost manic. The gelato tastes good, but they don’t let you mix flavors.

After running to few stores and not finding what I was looking for I found myself looking for sweet treat here so I tried few flavors before I discreetly made my selection. There were macadamia, sweet salt caramel, stratellia(not sure the actual spelling), and mango. I got sweet salt caramel and lilikoi. Thought these two flavors were great match and the waffle cone was crispier and clearer kind of taste which was somewhat impressing although the seating outdoor had led to great deal of sun exposure and for UV conscious ppl they may wanna find somewhere shaded to reduce suntan.

Waited way too long for a waffle with a single scoop of gelato and two toppings. And then our waffle was given to another customer who ordered one after we did. Gelato flavors aren’t original and pricey for the amount you get.

This place looked like it would’ve been good. It’s in a good location with heavy foot traffic on the third floor overlooking the stage. The seating looks inviting with ten 4 top tables under large white umbrellas. I wondered why no one was buying so I stopped in. First, they don’t have quick food items to satisfy hungry passing shoppers. Second, regular coffee drinks are not their thing. They want to up sell overpriced blended frappes and gelato milkshakes($ 11 for a large), along with a waffle($ 10.50). I ordered an espresso and it puzzled them that I would want a spot of milk to soften the bitterness of the drink — like they’d never been inside a Starbucks or Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. «You want milk for that?» Is not encouraging. Third, the guys stand together with their heads on a swivel checking out girls. «You want a sample?» is about the limit of their engagement unless you buy something. After I purchased my drink — $ 3.40 for a double espresso — I felt like I’d been ripped off at some tourist trap. With so many other choices for gelato and coffee I cannot imagine coming back.

Aloha Gelato is an oasis at the Ala Moana Shopping Center. Right outside of Neiman Marcus with lots of dedicated seating, it’s the perfect spot to take a break, rest up and enjoy some yummy, cold gelato. I tried the coconut and oreos n’ cream with coconut chips on top. I wasn’t sure about the coconut chips, envisioning coconut shavings, but the owner convinced me to try them and they were delicious. Crispy and decadent. The service was excellent — quick and friendly. I will definitely be back.

My family and I stumbled upon Aloha Gelato on our first day in Oahu and we thought it was good. Honestly, their products are nothing spectacular or memorable, but I have to admit that the acai sorbet tasted amazing! The employees are super friendly and asked us if we wanted to try any flavors, which is great if you want to sample their tropical flavors. Prices were a tad bit pricier than what I was hoping, but we’re in Hawaii so… 3 stars!

We often pass by Aloha Gelato when we are cruisin’ at Ala Moana. We like the fact that they always offer everyone that passes by to try a sample of their gelato. Even if you don’t end up buying anything from them, they won’t give you any attitude or the stink eye. Since my wife and kids love their gelato, we often buy a scoop or two. My daughter’s favorite flavors include dragonfruit and lychee. They are on the pricier side. One small scoop on a waffle cone costs around $ 6. When I say small scoop, I really mean small. I could probably finish it in 3 bites. Today, their waffle cone was kinda stale. It was probably made well ahead of time and just sat there until it lost most of its crunch. All in all, we like their gelato and their service, but it is not cheap.

Aloha Gelato located on the third floor of Ala Moana Shopping Center. Of all the years that Aloha Gelato has been around I’ve always by passed the establishment to head to my next shopping destination. Just this year on impulse I decided to try Aloha Gelato for the first time. So many delicious looking flavors to choose from. Should I just get a cup or should I get a waffle cone, or should I get a waffle in a cup? Then there’s the question of how many scoops of which flavor do I want. My first visit I was given a stamp card…9 visits with purchases from Aloha Gelato a person will get their 10th gelato free. I think I’m currently at the half way mark. LOL. Lately I’ve been getting one scoop of Oreo(my weakness) gelato in a waffle cup. When I do feel a little adventurous then I would ask for a scoop of a different flavor and add some toppings like strawberry with almonds. Depending on which gelato I’m getting for the day… it’s always refreshing and very delicious. This establishment accepts cash and credit cards as payments. When paying with a credit card… a person uses their finger to sign their name on the screen since there’s no stylus pen available to use. This establishment also passed the Department of Health inspection… that’s a plus in my books.

I work in Honolulu at least one week out of the month and this time I had my family join me for a little work/vacation trip. We decided to go to the mall to pick up a couple of items for the beach and decided to stop at this place for just an ice tea. I ordered the large ice tea with no sweetener and the owner said it was $ 5.76. I obviously laughed at this price and asked if he was serious and he stated with a straight face«yea that’s the price»! I reluctantly paid the price but went immediately across the way to the Honolulu Coffee Co and there large ice tea is $ 3.25! I mean REALLY! How much did this actually cost him to make! $.03? This place is a total rip off and to all you vacationers steer clear of this place! It’s not necessarily the money but it’s the principal and being completely price gouged!

You’ve probably been lured to this new gelato kiosk at Ala Moana Center before, as the workers are very aggressive about stopping shoppers to try free samples. It’s located on the third floor near Lacoste. Who can say no to free samples? Their calls are a little less annoying then the rest of the kiosks around the mall because, hey — free gelato! And don’t be shy about sampling — they’re happy to provide. I ordered a small scoop of the Chocolate Mousse gelato, and it was *really* good. Probably the most decadent cup of gelato I’ve ever had. The only problem was that it came out to $ 5. I just want to make a quick comparison: You can get a small scoop at Via Gelato for $ 4.19, AND you can get two flavors for no extra charge. At Aloha Gelato, you have to order each flavor by the scoop. To me, it seems like you’re paying for quality and convenience. You’re at the mall — it’s hot, and look! Some gelato. You’ll buy because it’s there. I don’t mind paying for quality, but seeing the price for the amount of product I actually got just didn’t sit well with me. The kiosk also offers a variety of different drinks like Italian sodas and one of my favorites: plantation iced tea($ 4.71). It wasn’t sweet like you’d want it to be, and the friend I was with said the Italian soda she ordered was too syrupy. Wanting to give the place another try, I remember seeing that they offered shakes. What could be better than a gelato shake, right? Well, I guess I’ll never know because as soon as I saw that I had to pay $ 8 for a small, I turned right around. I probably won’t be a frequent visitor, but I could see myself dropping by once in a while when I’m in the mood for some gelato at the mall and don’t want to make the drive to Kaimuki for Via Gelato.

My wife and I first fell in love with gelato on our first trip to Italy several years ago and we’re always on the look out for places to enjoy this treat. We were looking forward to trying Aloha Gelato’s offerings, hoping it would come close to the«real deal.» The verdict? While the flavors were very good, their outrageous prices pretty much ruined the experience for us. Five dollars for a SMALL scoop of gelato??? I get it that prices for products and services in the mall are usually higher, but this is a bit ridiculous. 3 stars for tables/sitting area, pleasant staff and free samples(as many samples as you may want).

Came here before work to grab either a tea or smoothie. Felt a little intimidated because there was 4 – 5 workers working at the time and literally they were all just standing face forward staring waiting for a customer to approach lol. But totally fine, I understand it was maybe a slow day and there was nothing else to do. Anyway, approached the cashier and was greeted nicely. I asked if they had any smoothies, he told me I could pick any gelato and they could turn it into a smoothie. I was kind of in a rush cuz I started work in the next 20 minutes so I chose the dragon fruit/pitaya flavor, I got a medium size which wasn’t too much of a difference from the small, and my total was $ 9.50 $ 9.50…that’s the most I ever paid for a smoothie lol. Don’t get me wrong though it’s really good! But it’s just basically the gelato blended with pineapple juice. It was good, but I would just rather go to Jamba Juice and spend $ 5 for their pitaya smoothie or even $ 7 for the pitaya bowl.

HOLY– TALKABOUTOVERPRICED! $ 8 for a milkshake?! Pulp Fiction was based on reality! And what’s with the sizes? I paid $ 5 for a kid’s scoop?! Goddam, I said goddam! Okay, to tone it down, I did give 4 stars because their gelato is no joke. The staff are great at giving samples, so don’t be shy about asking. I tried yogurt with strawberry and WOW. IMPORTANTNOTE: If you want two different flavors, you are paying per scoop. They don’t do half scoops if you actually just want the kids’ size with two flavors. Nope! You pay for two scoops with two flavors. Not sure that’s worth it. Great if you happen to be in the mall(it’s located on the top floor above Center Stage), are jonesin’ for some gelatz, and can’t wait to spend $ 5+ for it. Oh and if you’re willing to stand behind annoying high school kids who can’t make up their minds but don’t have the sense to get out of the frickin way. Eeeeeek.

Totally caught my husband off guard with the free samples. He could not resist. Vanilla, lemon, gianduia, and biscotti were my favorite. Yup we got to sample all of them. Staff was very friendly and accommodating, as the girl that helped us got us our samples simultaneously. The gianduia is awesome, reminds me of nutella. The sales girl mentioned it was hazelnut. Yum! Still, like all the other gelato places, a tad pricey.

I remember this place being a tea shop, but had seen that its changed over to gelato. As you pass on by you can’t help but take a sample or two or three. The workers are so friendly and happy that they actually encourage you to! They will call you over to try a delicious sample. I’ve even heard some of them speaking Japanese to call over the tourist! Wow! Let me just say, it works! Obviously on me too! My first try was the Biscotino, this has become my favorite flavor from them. Love the bits of cookies inside. I’ve tried it as a one scoop for $ 4.75! I’ve also had it as a two scoop with Strawberry for $ 6. The prices are a bit high for gelato. If you go to Italy its seriously like $ 2 for a massive cup(in comparison), but I understand, products get shipped, its expensive to do this and that, and of course, we’re in Hawaii not Italy. Point taken… If you work in the mall, they’ll offer a 10% discount, but be sure to tell them before they ring you up so they have the heads up. It is delicious, the staff is friendly and energetic, and it tastes good. It also beats me from having to walk all the way to Nordstrom for gelato. Aloha Gelato has more unique flavors and a few more selections to choose from. They also offer different drinks and shakes, as well as Italian soda(which is not on their menu).

Don’t get Aloha Gelato confused with Norstrom Gelato. Aloha Gelato is located on the very top of Ala Moana Center. I was planning to get gelato but happened to walk by and the employees eagerly encouraging passerby to try their sample. I saw pumpkin flavor and couldn’t resist the sample. It was very light and tasted just like a pumpkin pie. I also tried their dark chocolate and that was excellent as well. What I really like about their gelato is that it’s not overwhelmingly sweet. For my old age, over sweet things are too tasty. The only down side is their high mall price. Just for a single scoop, it’s $ 4.95. They have many tables around their concession store to sit & hangout.

We stopped by to try this place out since my friend heard about it. Well I was excited because I love gelato… This place was sort of unorganized, a bunch of people were standing around trying samples and the workers just randomly help whoever without knowing who came first or not. Also workers could be much more friendlier and smile instead of being snobby and grouchy looking. It was 430pm on a Tuesday, there was only about four customers there so it wasn’t busy. I got the macadamia nut flavored gelato. It tasted okay nothing different or out of the ordinary. It was $ 4.75 for a scoop and I asked for it to be in a cup which came in a waffle cup that was not fresh but hard and stale tasting. My total for one scoop with tax was $ 6.50. The scoop is way to small!!! My friend and I looked at each other like it was a joke. It’s about half the size or smaller of a regular large ice cream/rice scooper. Ridiculous and over priced! No thank you, not ever again. I’ve had way better gelato elsewhere for about the same price or less and I wasn’t disappointed. First and last here for my friend and I. I will definitely let my family and friends know to not waste their time here!

I can’t believe this place has only 3 stars, I mean besides their steep prices I don’t see anything else wrong with this place. Aloha Gelato is located in the middle of Ala Moana shopping center on the 3rd floor above center stage, and every time I walk buy, the workers are always asking if I want to sample. I finally got around to trying this the other day after shopping for a few hours with all the heat and humidity and it definitely did not disappoint! I walked up and the nice worker girl(I wish I got her name) was very sweet and offered me and my cousin some samples. I tried the mango and loved it, but yet I their were so many I still didn’t know what I wanted. So she asked if I’d like to try her favorite and she mixed the coconut gelato with their hazelnut flavored gelato and it tasted like almond joy! My favorite candy! As my cousin decided on what she was getting the worker asked us if we wanted to try her second favorite flavor and again she mixed the hazelnut gelato with the very berry flavored gelato and it tastes like a chocolate covered strawberry! I was in heaven, so I finally settled with 2 scoops, one of their hazelnut and the other was coconut gelato in a waffle bowl, which was also delish. I could tell it was fresh because it was nice and crunchy and a little sweet, but not too sweet! It came out to a little over $ 8! Pretty steep for gelato, but I will say it was quite refreshing on a day like that.
