Amv Air Conditioning

I had a 15 year old, central AC system. The second floor unit had been leaking Freon for a while. I called AMV for an estimate to replace the unit. Al the owner came out to check out the job. One of my concerns was how would they remove the air handler unit located in the attic. The existing attic access door is too small for that unit. Al looked at the situation and said they should be able to pull the air handler unit thru an existing air return (vent) located directly under the unit. If not, I would have to hire a contractor to open a hole in the ceiling of one of my bedrooms, which would add a lot more costs and time to this project.
On 3÷10÷16 AMV replaced my Central AC unit. Four technicians arrived at 9am. They were all clean cut, friendly and polite. They worked hard. It was not an easy job because of the air handler and changing the coolant from R22 to R410. Just as Al stated they were able to remove the old air handler and install the new air handler thru the air return. By 4pm the job was done. I am very pleased that the job was completed without any problems. Al the owner, really knows his stuff.

For those who read my deleted post, I wish you to disregard it. This is a confusing world and all information was not available or revealed. I am sorry for any confusion.

Over the years I’ve had the experience of working with AMV and Aldrin on various jobs, including both my client’s properties as well as my personal property. When it came time to install a split A/​C system in my house, Aldrin assisted me in designing the right system for my wants and needs.
I was impressed that we were able to run my 5 unit system (4x ceiling cassette and 1 split unit) off of 1 (large) compressor. The cassette style units are much sleeker and cool extremely well.
Although I did run into some maintenance issues after the system was installed, Aldrin stepped up to the plate and took responsibility for a previous employees flawed installation. Aldrin and his crew troubleshot the problems and did the corrective steps to ensure the issues shouldn’t occur again.
Companies big and small make errors, it’s how you correct and deal with those issues that show you the integrity of a company. I’m happy with the service Aldrin and his team showed me and I hope that they will continue to work as hard for all of you as they did for me.

We just had our new Mitsubishi split air unit replaced by AMV and the install was flawless. The head tech Ryan and his co worker came on time did a thorough job and also cleaned up their area as well. They covered my laminate floors to protect them from damage and he gave us proper instructions on the settings using the remote control. The old unit was a Freidrich 24k btu. Hard to get parts for this brand and Mitsubishi comes with a 12 yr. warranty on parts. Al and his staff always responded to phone calls or emails in a timely manner Kaimuki has been really hot this past couple months so we really feel relieved we have a nice and cool living room. Ami and Al are always helpful and accommodating. Techs are friendly and knowledgeable and know exactly what to do. They make excellent suggestions and have foresight to set up reccommended services that will prolong the life of your AC. I always refer potential customers their way because they care and treat their customers with respect.

They were nice and price was competitive, but many mistakes throughout keeps me from ever recommending them.
As background, we did a full remodel, demoing down to the studs in most rooms. This allowed AMV to come in, run their plumbing/​electrical with no hassle, and leave specific spaces for later mounting of the inside wall units. To do this, they screwed horizontal sections of 2×4 to the wall where they wanted to place the units.
Several months later, they arrived for the install, and that’s where the incompetence began. First, the 2×4 sections that they left attached – and which were drywalled around – were roughly 34″ wide, while the AC units were on 28″ wide! So, we now had 6″ holes in our walls in 3 rooms! The AMV installer said, «Yeah, that’s so-​and-​so who did that. He does that all the time. We always have to repair walls when he does this.»
So…then why hasn’t he been fired? Or given a tape measure?
Of the 4 units we had installed, AMV broke the plastic housing around one and never mentioned it to me. I saw it, asked about it, and the installers response was, «Oh, do you want that to be replaced?» Um, yes, it’s a brand new unit and I don’t want a chunk of the case missing. Call me crazy, but I had them replace it.
They finally had a third-​party come by and repair the holes in the wall at their cost, but it was just more hassle. And, they charged my credit card for the final installment weeks before the holes were repaired, which annoyed me since the job wasn’t completed.
During the process, we also had to wait weeks for the final install of the interior units due to «no units being on the islands,» according to AMV. Not sure if that was true or just an excuse.
All in all, they were nice, but I wouldn’t recommend them based on the headaches, many extra visits, and long delay in getting things done.

back in 2006 after being 5 months pregnant I threatened my husband that I wasn’t going to give birth until he agreed upon putting a/​c splitters in the house.
We had used someone previously who GROSSLY underestimated the size I needed in my living room. Can you imagine throwing down thousands and thinking something is wrong with the unit, only to find out that the unit is simple not capable to cooling down my living room. I don’t live in a big house so it was disgusting that I had to remove the unit (that my aunt scored!) and start all over!
Al hooked me up! We installed units into all of our rooms & almost 10 years later, the units run GREAT! The last summer was brutally hot, wouldn’t you agree? Friends and family were enjoying our house over the summer.
10 years later we are calling upon him once again since we are moving. There’s an old unit there and someone had told me I needed to replaced. I reached out to Al for him to install a new unit into my daughter’s room and when I showed him the old central air unit, he suggested we try «enhancing» the unit so it would run more proficiently. SCORE! I’m stoked I didn’t go with the other guys suggestion of having to replace the unit right away.
Al has always been very quick to respond & service the units of the years.

Just wanted to mention that they stand behind their work. Had a Fujitsu split that wasn’t working, after they came out a few times and almost $ 700 later, it still wasn’t working, so we had the unit changed. Approaching AMV with the situation, we agreed upon a very acceptable amount and was credited accordingly. Awesome that they stand behind their work and are willing to allow for this. I will use them in the future for sure.

Terrible experience and customer service. Paid $ 120 to have them look at my AC and tell me what I already knew and then they were very slow to respond on a quote and very rude and unprofessional. Found someone else to do the work much cheaper. First Unilocal review I have ever written b/​c they were so rude.
I do not recomnend this company at all.

Do you like your electrical bill? We sure didn’t. And this was after we had installed PV panels on the roof and gone through the house to try to optimize our electrical usage as much as possible. The biggest culprit, we thought, was our central AC unit which dated back to the time the house was built 10 years ago and was probably a 10 SEER unit. Plus, the set up on our central AC was weird with the thermostat not in the rooms that it was supposed to cool so the temperature control was unreliable. It was time to take action.
We talked to our tech that services our AC units and he recommended AMV. We sent Al an email and after some communication glitches (attributable to their changing website), Al came out and measured our rooms and sent us an estimate by email. Our different options were laid out by cost and efficiency. We then changed the parameters of the system that we were looking at and Al quickly sent us a new proposal representing the changes we had asked for.
We decided on the system that we wanted and paid ½ up front (AMV allows you to charge this to a credit card so you can earn some extra miles or cash back bonus on the purchase). The day came for the install and the crew that came out did their jobs professionally and with respect for our family’s time and privacy.
We’re now enjoying the new system and its better performance and efficiency. There were some minor follow up questions and issues that came up which were quickly addressed by Al despite the holiday season. Would certainly use this company again for any future work that needed to be done.

So it’s two years later and the system that AMV and Al installed is working fine. Our other unit now has gone out and we’ve been trying to get Al to give us a proposal to replace this central AC unit for the last 3 – 4 months and 3 emails and a phone call later, no response. If they were too busy to do the job, I would have appreciated at least a call or email to let me know, I would have understood. Will leave 3 stars up for the job they did before but will drop their rating down for their poor communication currently (sigh). Off to find a new AC company.

Business purports to travel to your residence to perhaps fix your air conditioning. I made such an appointment. This business apparently is not capable of fixing any air conditioning equipment whatsoever. The offer to fix appears to be a ruse to obtain a high service charge plus an undisclosed travel charge in an attempt to sell new equipment.

AMV installed our central AC system and has serviced it in the past when needed. However, last week our system died and wouldn’t turn on. I called and left a message for a call back/​service appointment. That was 4 days ago and I never heard back from anyone at AMV.
If AMV is too busy to take care of established clients by returning phone calls, at least as a courtesy, then in my opinion they don’t need or want my business. I just called another repair firm. The other firm did a great fast job, returned calls and showed up on time.

Horiible horrible!
Go to someone else if you have questions or want a call back. The owner Al is totally rude and condescending!
His employees on the other hand are decent enough.
That is what is probably keeping his company afloat. One of his employe told me he is embarrassed to be working for a scammer. He has been cheating his customers lately. Like he cheated us!
Never once did Al come out to look at our problem, but sent other guys who told be he did not know why Al suggested the unit for our house due to our proximity to the salt air from the ocean. Not only did we replace and was charged for the same problem once, but three times. Finally we gave up!
Basically we got ripped off.
JUST WARNING YOU! Would you even take the chance and use someone like this?

Update — Drop two stars. It’s been three weeks since Al came to provide an estimate. He spoke of getting me a proposal, but I’m still waiting… Time to move on. I knew it was too good to be true.

I called many places, no answer. AMV was the only one to answer their phone and sent a service person right away. They did a great job at a resonable price.

Strong beginning, poor climax, ending saves the story.
I was looking for a company to service my split air system before the summer season rolled around. I wanted to be assured that my air conditioning system would be working at it’s finest before the heat wave.
I got a call from Bryan/​Byron (I can’t recall his name) and he was splendid to talk to. He answered all my questions and I felt confident enough that this company would make me happy.
Appointment day came along and one of their techs came and serviced our system. I was at work and my husband said everything was okay. When I got home I noticed that there were nicks in my hard wood floor and my husband said it might have been from the tech’s ladder. I was disappointed but got over it quickly.
Two days later my husband turned the air conditioner on and he found that the remote wasn’t working. Hmmmm. We called the company and was told we needed to purchase a new remote. The remote was ordered and my husband made another appointment with Ama for them to drop off the remote control.
I get a call the day before the appointment from the tech that they were at my house to drop off the remote control. Ummm, wrong day yeah bruddah? I told him to leave it in my mailbox since it was a sunny day with no chance of rain.
Two days later my husband tries to turn the a/​c on and it doesn’t work. He calls the company and states his problem. He is told by Ama that there will be an $ 85 service charge to come to the house and assess the problem. I thought that was crazy and so did my husband. We all went back and forth about the service charge.
Our tick with the whole service charge was that the air conditioner was working perfectly fine before the tech touches it. Then after he services it everything goes haywire. Why should we pay for them to assess what’s wrong with the unit when it was working fine until their tech touched it? Long story short we said, «fine» and booked the appointment.
Day before appointment the tech calls again and says he’s there for an appointment. I told him that the appointment was set for the following day and he said, ‘well that’s what my service order says.” I asked him to call his office and double check because my husband and I would not set an appointment for a day none of us would be at the house.
*sigh*
He calls the office and calls me back and says he will stop by the day after, which was when the appointment was set for originally.
Appointment day came and the visit lasted all of 5 minutes to resolve the problem. That last tech really turned a bad story into an okay one. Would I ask them to service my unit again? At this moment, probably not.
