It was my first time here with 7 other friends and I didn’t quite know what to expect. Safe to say we all had a good time especially since we succeeded within the time limit! If you haven’t done this kind of thing before I’d recommend trying it at least once!

Do this!!! Any age group will have fun! My group missed the Hatch by 30 seconds. I can’t tell you how or why we didn’t make it, but if I could go back in time I totally would have gotten it. I plan to be back to do the other two rooms. Parking: It sucks, it’s Waikiki. There are garages nearby but if you’re down for walking there’s free parking near the zoo at least on weekends. Clothing: Wear clothing you can sweat in. It’s nerve racking. Bathroom breaks: There are none, there is a bathroom there. Food: Eat something before hand, hunger causes you to lose focus! There’s no food inside. Friends: Go with smart, problem-solving friends. Don’t dilly-dally inside either! Most of all, have fun and never give up!!!

We were definitely caught off guard. Our team of 8 were all new to the activity yet excited to conquer the best time. Although, as we started, the reality of how hard the Hatch was kicking in and beating 49:57 is the real deal! I mean, imagine waking up to Saw, telling you the only way out to freedom is finding out each puzzle… not just one. My advice is to build a team of Sherlocks and hope the real one solves it all! Good luck to everyone! Breakout Waikiki… I’ll be back!!!

The Hatch!!! Ahhhhhh!!! You have 60 minutes to decipher the clues and get yourselves out. Work together, solve the puzzles, figure out the clues, win the game. We started with our hearts pounding and our nerves on edge and left with the biggest grins you could imagine! It’s all we could talk about for the rest of the evening and into the next day. Easily one of the best ways to spend an hour of your time with friends. Loved it so much I can’t wait to try another room! The staff was fun, funny, engaging, and incredibly helpful! 10 of 10, will definitely return and will recommend to all my friends! Do you have what it takes to Breakout?

This was the most challenging place to test brain with others on your team. Save your brain power tho use it here. Was fun trying to figure out clues, this was the first time here, but I’m sure our group will do this again or until we can at least conquer a room!

Escape rooms in Hawaii! Basically as everyone else has said you have 60 minutes to find clues to break out of the room. Currently there are 3 different themed rooms. The Hatch had the lowest success rate so naturally we had to choose it.(Owned it heheh) Parking: there is a map on the website of suggested parking places and their prices. However we parked at the royal hawaiian and just ate there after for the validation. Reservations: able to book from the website and i believe it is mandatory. A few days in advance should be enough for you to get the time and room you want. Price: Cost ranges from 28−40ish dollars per person depending on your group size with larger groups being cheaper. We went with 8 but i definitely recommend going with at least 4 – 5 if you want a shot at the leaderboard. Fun: amazing! If you are into puzzles and played video games the majority of your life like us you will definitely enjoy this! The staff are very friendly and provide hints throughout the game if they see you have no idea what you are doing. However, take too many hints and you will start having to pay with time. Overall great experience unlike anything else in hawaii at the moment. i highly suggest you try at least once.

An activity in Hawaii that can be done indoors, doesn’t involve eating or drinking, and is still fun for all! I would recommend this new live-action, interactive game to anyone ready for a challenge! If you can’t handle pressure or losing… this may not be your cup of tea. The success rate is relatively low, so be prepared for either outcome.(when I went with my family and friends we were able to escape in the nick of time! Thank God!!) I definitely would suggest doing this activity with a larger group of people(maximum 8): 1. It’s cheaper with more people 2. More brains thinking and hands/bodies working together make the process easier/quicker. Thank you Luke, Matt and the rest of Breakout Waikiki for a great experience!

When I first heard about this place, I thought it was such a cool and unique concept – it immediately made me want to try this place out. I rounded up a few of my friends and we decided to go! The workers were extremely friendly and helpful when we checked in. My friends and I have never tried an escape room before so this whole concept was new to us. It was definitely challenging with using your mind and critical thinking skills – but we had a BLAST! It was SO fun and memorable. We didn’t break out within a hour, but we still had such a great time. It definitely makes me want to go back and try out all of the rooms!

It’s dark. You are in a room and locked in. You look down, you have handcuffs. Suddenly the TV screen goes on. It’s telling you you’re a secret agent and you are captured by the enemy. It goes dark again. You need to get the cuffs off and find a source of light. Using your intuition, it is your mission to find the clues to escape. You have 60 minutes. Are you ready? Did I get your attention? ^_^* Breakout Waikiki is the first to bring Hawaii an escape room. Don’t worry, the scenario above is a MIXTURE of different ones that I’ve been to. It’s not scary at all, I just don’t want to ruin the fun for you ;). Escape rooms are meant to be full of puzzles and codes. A what?!? An Escape room! It is a live action game where you are in a room, like the scenario above. You have 60 minutes to unlock codes, solve riddles, and discover clues to help get out. It’s like a scavenger hunt meets 007!(OR zombies, mad scientist, serial killer. You get the point! There a lot of themes) I know what you are thinking. Why would I want to be locked in a room? Who would do that?! Why would I pay for it? O_o Don’t worry. It’s not really locked. You can leave and use the bathroom. You can even leave completely, but that would be no fun. It’s just a game! You need to work with your team(teams can be 2 to 8 players) to find the code that unlocks the door. Price: you need to reserve online. It’s cheaper with a larger group.(Solve the promo code puzzle for a 10% off discount! I’d tell you it but it’s good practice!) Prices usually run from $ 35 -$ 40 Where is it: it’s behind Kings Village… you know the place by Wang Chung’s in Waikiki(Prince Edward St!) Parking might be tricky, since it’s in Waikiki. You can park by Wang Chung’s, there is also street parking if you don’t mind walking. We parked at the Sheraton which was across the street. Customer Service: I reserved for 4, but needed to add 2 more and they were very helpful. They let me add my extra guests at my reservation time on the spot. We were greeted upon entering. The staff we’re really great at explaining beforehand what the experience is about for my first time friends, without revealing any of the fun ;) There are 3 rooms to try: Room 13: Check in to Room 13 but be warned you came checkout anytime you like, but you can never leave… without finding the clues to help you breakout! Mission Manoa: You are an agent captured, trying to escape, you have 60 minutes to complete your mission before the enemy gets you! The Hatch: the hardest escape room. Only the bravest try it and get out before the clock! No really. The success rate of people breaking out is 19%! I have been waiting for Hawaii to finally have one. I’ve been to 2 in Portland and have been waiting patiently to try it again. Overall it’s great fun as long as you work as a team! I recommend this for families, friends and even work! It’s a great morale and team building experience. Now my review is done. So are you ready to try and breakout? ^_^*

Highly recommend this experience. Super fun and Savannah was great getting us checked in and on our way to breaking out. We made it out of the room with 1 sec to spare. We had so much fun we’ve already booked our next room! We had 5 people in our group. I don’t know if we could have completed it with less people.

I’d give them 10 stars if available! we went to go check out Breakout Waikiki with the goal of getting the top time at Room 13. when we first got there, we were greeted by the awesome staff. they were super friendly! there was a mistake during my booking but they were on point when it came to fixing it and accommodating us. so we talked story while waiting for our whole group to come. then we went in to get ready for the escape attempt. this is something YOUGOTTAGOCHECKOUT!!! go with a group of family/friends/coworkers! it’s such a great event for teamwork and problem solving. we are DEFINITELY going to check out the next room Mission Manoa in 2 weeks! thank you so much to the staff of Breakout Waikiki!

This place is awesome. Mack and Cody were excellent guides to the room and it was some of the most fun I’ve had on the island. Although the one room was the only one open, the rest will be by the end of 2015 and I’m sure they’re just as good. A lot of fun!

I thought this place was really fun! The people there were very passionate about what they do and I’m glad they brought it to Hawaii. I never thought being trapped in one room for an hour could be so fun. I went with a group of friends and it definitely helped that we had a total of five people, but we still didn’t get out in time. I suggest bringing a group(max 8). It’s a great bonding experience and just a fun thing to do with family and friends. If you’re looking for something fun, challenging and new, go to Breakout Waikiki!

One of the most fun things I’ve ever done!!! Was looking for something fun and new on a rainy day, and we found this place. I’m a huge fan of breakout games now! We did room 13 and escaped! So much fun, the staff was super friendly and the place was awesome! Good luck getting out!
