Consolidated Theatres Ward with TITAN XC

Ward, what happened?! I loved this theater. It’s utterly expensive, but it was worth it. Now. Now there’s a 21+ rule and reserved seats. My friends and I trekked out to Ward from separate parts of the island to meet up for a PG-​13 movie at 10:45am on a weekday (work day!). We walked up to the ticket windows and noticed a 21+ sign next to a majority of the movies we wanted to see. The worst part? The #1 movie we wanted to see was 21+ up until 8:45pm that night! What? Really? What? First off, how many people over 21 are going to see this movie on a work day at 10:00am? Secondly, why do you have to block off all the movie showings up until 8:45pm?! Mind you, I’m 20, and will be 21 in about six months. And I can’t see a movie that 13 year olds should be allowed to see.
Also, can we note that it’s summer and a lot of kids and high schoolers are going to want to see movies on their free summer days? These excited, hopeful kids are going to be disappointed when they realize they’re too young to be at the movie they technically are old enough to see.
I get it, the alcohol thing makes sense and I can accept that. However, why does every single movie time need to be blocked off until like 7pm? That just sucks. I was in such disbelief that I went up to the ticket window and inquired about this new rule. I know it’s no one’s fault, but I was really disappointed.
And I know it’s my fault, and I should’ve looked to the Ward cinemas website rather than just google for my movie times. I would’ve known about the 21+ rule had I gone to the website, and probably would’ve saved a lot of time for my friends and I. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case. I’m still sticking with the one star rating because of all the times being blocked off for nearly all movies except Finding Dory, The Angry Birds Movie and Alice Through The Looking Glass. I will happily update my review if Ward figures out a better system.

This 21+ première thing is getting out of hand. Seriously, a PG-​13 movie and the only viewing that’s for all ages is at 8:45 pm? You’re telling me, a 20 year old, that I’m too fucking young to see a movie that’s recommended for kids that are 7 years younger than me?
I get that it’s so people can enjoy the comfort of getting shitfaced at a theater without kids around, but come on! This whole age restricted theater thing could have been executed better. Maybe like having the age restricted viewing after most adults would be off work?
This used to be my go to theater to watch movies. The rewards was amazing, as well as the 6 dollar movies on Tuesdays. After several Tuesdays of having to wait over 4 hours for a non age restricted viewing, I’m never coming back here until management changes the scheduling for this garbage.
TL;DR: go to Dole theaters.

Who on the island hasn’t been to ward, they first opened their doors when I was a keiki and the business is still going strong.
Usually when you think of ward, you think of pricy but… on Tuesdays it’s $ 6 movies, $ 2 small popcorn, $ 2 hot dogs. I like in kalihi and honestly dole is walking distance from my house but I still go. out to ward. I you ask? Because they have self serve butter!!! Literally all you can butter your kernels butter. BUT words from experience too much butter, sadly is a bad thing. It ruins the popcorn taste. What’s also awesome about this theatre is the drinks are self serve. They have the soda fountain AND an icee fountain, yes icee fountain. The food choices here, you can’t find at other theatres. They sell your usual theatre food but also they do fries, endame, even fresh fruits. The variety of food alone makes me drive here instead of walking to the theatre by my house.
Only Con about ward, is their parking is awful! They recently opened up the 2^nd floor so you can park but even that has restrictions.

Have you ever gone to the theater and left pissed because you spent an arm and a leg on junk food just to feel I satisfied or sickly stuffed?
Well that is not going to happen here.
For once I went to the theaters, had some awesome grinds and left feeling full and satisfied. I was craving a baked potato so I got the loaded potato fries. It was huge. There had to be at least 3 whole potatoes worth of spuds. Topped with nacho cheese as well as a cheddar cheese, bacon and sour cream. The potatoes were hot and steaming. Each bite smothered with cheesy goodness. My sister got the Okonomiyaki fries topped with imitation crab, cabbage, and a couple sauces reminiscent of sushi love. It sounds weird and at first I refused to try it, but it was awesome. What I can only describe as a fusion of America’s favorite fast food and sushi it’s a must try for the foodie movie goer.

We came here to watch Captain America: Civil War.
There is a 21+ theater where they serve alcohol. What I thought was really neat about this movie theater was that it served a lot of Hawaiian snacks like Hurricane Popcorn & Li Hing Mui Pineapple.
The theater that I was in was huge, it has 3 sections of seats. The seats were uncomfortable though, very stiff, & did not recline back. Also, they felt very small & narrow.

they have lots of movie theatres. they even have an upstairs with more rooms.
FOOD:
they now literally have lunch plates! from chicken tenders to green beans, rice and more! oh and liquor!!! theres a seperate line to go in for 21+ so cool. haha they have $ 1.00 hot dogs and more deals on tuesdays too! so good! the movie theatres is literally gonna make you feel at home. dont fall asleep now!

SERVICE:
our cashier was super nice. he showed us the new menus and even told us what was good. he even told us to take our time to see what we wanted, how sweet haha and told us where to go to pick up our order. he was smiling the whole time and never once look annoyed.

Worst theatre ever! We bought reserved seats off of fandango. First off it was expensive at $ 13.75 plus fees. However since it was reserved seats we did not mind. We purposely got to the movie theatre later and when we arrived there were these two little punks and a family in our seats. The family we didn’t mind being in our seats since they apologized and said other people took their seats. Although the two piece of craps didn’t care and gave us attitude (we were close to physically removing them but decided it was not worth it). So we went to see an usher, but noticed he was high on something. All he said was, «that’s not cool man!» Then the movie started. The movie was opening weekend and there was only one incompetent usher.
Why even have reserved seats?
On a side note we all split up our group of 8 and scattered. There were two seats next to the punks (I would like to use a worst adjective) so we ended next to them and I took up all the armrest and leg space. I cramped the little punk! Lol

Ward Theatres is located in what is known as the «Ward Entertainment Center» or «Ward Village Shops.» These theatres are the première location in Honolulu to watch a movie on the big screen. To involve itself with the ever-​evolving Ward-​Kakaako area, Ward Theatres has upped its ante by being the first of the Consolidated Theatre brand to have food items other than the basic theatre fare.
Just this year Ward Theatre introduced their new concept, called «The Première.» This concept involves a wing specific to certain movies that are age appropriate for its 21+ geared clientele. In this wing, after entrance, you will immediately see a kiosk selling beers and wines. Kinda classy, huh? The ticket prices have not changed, but you do make seat reservations upon purchase. We purchased our tickets online through Fandango and were able to choose our seats via this route, too. When you get to the ticket attendant you are instructed to see Guest Services as they will check your ID to verify age, and provide you with a wristband, as entrance to the wing. This is a very smooth process.
Along with the the introduction of «The Première» wing comes an updated menu, for all to enjoy. We went with the Lilikoi Chicken Bowl and Okonomiyaki Fries. Both were flavorful. Choices we would get again, but so many more to try. With the new menu items, you order as usual. On your receipt will be your order number, and you will be directed to the right send of the counter to pick up your food. The wait is very quick. All of the original menu items are still available, too.
I am a fan of «The Première» and the new menu items. We will definitely return to indulge in the other menu items, and to relax with a cold wine while catching a movie.

Random night and decided to try out «the premium.»
The food was a major upgrade, and so was the bar. They have your usual canned and bottled beers, but they also have wine. Yummmm
Decided to get the okonomiyaki fries, which was decent. Kinda salty but still good.
Pro: you can reserve your seats (even via fandango) and the wine selection is good
Con: the rooms are the smaller rooms on the right side (I was in room 14)
The frills and thrills of the premium stuff is okay. I’d still go again anyway

The 21+ section is such a fantastical fail I can’t even with this place. My friend forgot his ID so we had to wait a whole hour and 15 minutes for the next showing of The Huntsman: Winter’s War, a PG-​13 movie. I complained to the manager, since she wouldn’t give us an exception. (We are in our 20s – I guess we looked 12!!)
They should advertise these new rules more since we just looked up times on google and scheduled to make this showing. The manager gave me this lame excuse about signs being outside and it being on news broadcasts. LOL. first, ain’t nobody got time to watch TV anymore. Second, I saw no big signs or banners outside. At least they should put adverts on the radio, like 102.7 or 104.3– most of us DO listen to these stations when in traffic for work. PR fail.
Honestly, the fact that they are making people get wrist banded is simple enough so they can delineate between people who are 21+ or not. No ID? No wristband, can’t buy alcohol. So stupid. This happens all the time at venues for 18+ concerts and events. No wrist band, no alcohol sale, simple as that. I guess they are being sticklers and are worried about minors taking sips or drinks from 21+ guests, but this could happen anywhere– in restaurants, in concerts, etc. Plus if a minor is going to try illegally obtain alcohol, it probably wouldn’t be at ward theaters, LOL.
The new food selection also is just dressed up french fries and hot dogs with sauces thrown on them. A french fry is a french fry at the end of the day, I don’t care how much unagi sauce and kewpie mayo you slather on it. It’s just helping people to make unhealthy choices for their movies. Not very innovative or interesting to me at all.
Get it together Ward.

Came here to watch the first movie and found out that the première side (bar) don’t open till 2 pm but all in all the theater and lobby area was very clean and inviting.
It is slow if you come during the weekday during matinée

My husband and I enjoyed the opening of the Première 21+ section at Ward. We bought our tickets on Fandango so we could easily pick out seats and avoid the line at Ward. Upon arrival at the theater I scanned my phone at the fandango machine that’s located inside of the entrance of the theater to receive our tickets.
After our tickets printed we were directed to get our 21+ wristbands at the concierge center. Obviously, if you want to sit in the 21+ section you better bring your ID. They’ll scan your ID and give you a wristband and then you’re free to buy your concessions.
They have a new menu at Ward and honestly for movie concessions it’s affordable (pictures posted). I’m not a popcorn-​eater, so I recommend the baked potato fries!
The food was made rather quickly. You order at the cashiers (follow the signs) and they give you a number and you wait at the pick up section for your number to be called. Side note: my kids and I went to Regal (Pearl Highlands) the following night and it’s safe to say, they charge a lot more for a lot less there compared to Consolidated (Ward).
After we grabbed our concessions we made our way to the 21+ wing. They check your ticket before entering the wing and your first stop is the bar. The workers were great Friday night and had wonderful recommendations. I learned they don’t accept cash tips. The drinks range from $ 9-​$ 13. Expensive, yes, but if you’re going to pay $ 13.00+ for a ticket to sit in the «adult» wing, you shouldn’t be surprised at the drink prices. At those prices, you can guarantee no one will be getting drunk (unless they’re coming from happy hour at D&Bs) which was one of the public’s concerns about having this wing at a movie theater.
It’s a nice experience if you want to enjoy a movie away from the madness of wild children and chatty teenagers.
There’s supposed to be one more addition to their première that will be released in the near future. I’m interested to see what it is. Now, if only we could get a theater close to the mainland theaters where you have reclining seats and can order meals that are delivered to your seats, that would be great!

LOVING the recent improvements that Ward Theater has made!
The new concession menu is great and everything is under $ 10 (my only gripe is the lack of a lighter «real food» option, but oh well… A salad would be hard to eat in the dark anyways), the beer and wine selection is more expansive than I expected, and the 21+ wing provides reserved seating, so no need to worry about getting there early to scope out a decent spot.
The seats themselves are the same, but hey, maybe they’ll revamp the theaters eventually and make them more comfortable. In the meantime, I will definitely be making it out to more movies!
Fair warning: if you plan on seeing a 21+ flick, bring a photo ID. You’ll need to stop by the service desk to get a wristband, and they do check them before allowing you to enter the Première (21+) wing.

This is the other theater that I frequent. I love this theater because you can get unlimited icee refills. It’s blue vanilla for me. This place has 16 screens, which includes the Titan XC. This theater complex is huge and comfortable. It’s spacious and the larger theaters in the complex have two levels. This is important because when it’s full house, instead of waiting in line to exit at the bottom, exit at the top where there’s no line.
They have a rewards club card called EXTRAS loyalty card. It’s free to join and you earn rewards for popcorn, extra value combos, and admission tickets. They also have $ 6 Tuesdays, where it’s $ 6 for movies all day long for most movies. The only movie that I’ve been to where it wasn’t $ 6 on a Tuesday was Star Wars. 3D and Titan XC will cost a little more. Hot dogs and popcorn are discounted at $ 2 each. I wish they had gelato that they could scoop into a cup like the other theater. The ice cream here is all prepackaged. If you get the large popcorn, it’s a free one time refill. Any of their drinks are refillable at no charge. Their drink machines are on the outside of the concession, so you just help yourself after purchasing the cup. The last time I was here, it was also help yourself to the butter. The butter is no longer behind the concession stand.
Actually, I have to finish up this review because I’m heading there right now to see London Has Fallen. I hope that it’s good.

Comfortable, centrally located, easy to access by car, walking, or bus. The seats are wide, with armrests that go up and down and have cup holders. There is an elevator, escalator, and stairs to the lobby. Theaters have ramps and seats at ground level or go up the stairs for Stadium seating. There are spaces for several people who use wheelchairs or scooters with seats next to them for companions. The temperature inside is good, too. Last summer when it was so hot it was a welcome refuge. Now in February when it’s cooler outside no one appeared to be shivering inside. They seem to have turned down the a/​c, which was great.
There are large restrooms and a game room. There are benches in the large lobby. The picture quality was high. If you’re a tourist, this is not far from Waikiki and has plenty of eating and shopping options right around it.
Tickets and concessions are pricey, as they are in most places (e.g., $ 5 for a bottle of water). But there are discount prices if you qualify. Certain showings are captioned, which is great for those who are deaf, hard-​of-​hearing, for times when there is rapid dialogue, when certain accents may be difficult to understand, etc.
Park in the garage (although at peak times it may require some circling around). The 6 bus to Pauoa stops directly on front or across the street down a little bit while heading toward Ala Moana/​University. It’s a bit of a longer walk, but not bad, from Ala Moana Blvd. if you take the 19, 20, 42 (from/​to Waikiki) or the 55, 56, 57, and 57A.

I frequently go to this theater because it’s near my house. It’s got plenty of room and it’s huge so a lot of people are able to attend movies they want to see. Lines are usually long but there’s also kiosks on the side for you to purchase your tickets or even purchase online through fandango.
It’s pricey here.
Food, drinks, even the tickets itself so you would expect the staff and employees to take care of their work environment especially for what we pay but today was a bit of a let down. Normally after every showing, staff members go through and clean the seats, isles and trash… This is what’s expected, it’s your job. Today I went into theater #11, the movie starts at 4:40 and it was 4:20 when we went in and the trash outside was completely full. It made a little mountain of soda and icee cups as well as those boxes and paper bags for pop corn. Getting in, there was left over popcorn bags on seats, sodas still in the cup holders on the arm rest and trash all over the floor. Luckily we were the first ones in so we picked a clean areas but as the room started to fill up people were moving the trash from one seat to another trying to make space for their friends.
Oh and that’s not all… The bathroom. Oh god, come on girls, you need to flush! If it doesn’t work the first time keep trying! There were surprises in a few stalls and not gonna lie, I’m ashamed. I thought girls were much cleaner than this but I guess not. But I’m going back to the employees, there’s so many of you, don’t you think that you should make routine bathroom checks in between showings or when it’s slow? So when the movie ends and everyone goes to the bathroom it’s nice and clean. I work at a preschool and after ever bathroom break, wether it’s a couple students or the entire class, I do a bathroom check to make sure everything’s flushed & there’s no toilet paper on the floor. Basically clean up messes if there is any. It’s not that hard.
I’ll still come back here because of how convenient the location is but… For what we pay, I expect more from the staff and employees.

For me, a 3-​star rating is «good,» a 4-​star is «great,» and a 5-​star means that it’s adding value to the community (and it would be a huge loss if it were to go away.)
Consolidated Ward is my fave theater complex in Hawai’i. Good location, spacious, clean, and with free parking. Tuesday nights are half-​price. There’s even the Titan showroom with leather seating. The screens and sound system are good. The seats are good enough and have cup holders.
The website is pretty good. If you order tickets online, there’s a Fandago booth to print up your tickets just outside the door.
I know the food is a rip-​off (it is at all theaters,) but you don’t have to eat here. There’s Buca’s, Big City Diner, and a bunch of places in the area. There are healthy choices at this concession. I read that they will be a opening a bar soon as well.
Absolutely one of our best entertainment venues in town. See you at the movies…

There is a big concession stand with lots of treats to choose from. My all time fave is mixed flavored slushie, second, chocolate + popcorn. Yummy. The price, well, we already know how expensive it is so there’s no need to elaborate. Although unfortunately, they do not serve alcohol.
Customer service just like parking is bleh. The workers get the job done but in a nut shell, they all seem to hate their jobs.
By far, this is the best theater in Oahu (that’s not because of customer service). Ward theater is big compared to the other theaters, it could get crowded and busy but due to its size, it’s never a problem. The theater is somewhat clean and the seats are actually comfortable; there is also plenty leg space in between rows.
Ward theater offers your basic movie needs. If you’re like me and could tolerate the crowd for comfort welp, this is your theater.

This place is a good consolidated theater. In fact a good friend of mine works here and she is great! I loved the seating and popcorns and etc.

Brings me great memories and fun memories with such loved ones. Regal theaters are good too but Id say Ward consolidated theater rocks!
I loved how its convenient to town and other locations down along the way to alamoana and ward side.
I think I wish tickets would be reasonable but sometimes are expensive. But hey, I feel comfortable as always… gott always choose the upper section so you can see the movie good.
The introduction short film is great and it shows to tourist of what hawaii culture is and the awesome island life style!
The workers at Ward theater are friendly and I know they are always helpful and loved showing good service to all of us always.

When I want to watch a movie, the block busters whether it be action or drama, this is where I want to go.
The parking can get tough. In fact a couple times, on $ 6 Tuesday, late evening, I wasn’t able to get parking and we decided to bag it. However, I do go often and get lucky to find parking close to the entrance in the covered parking garage, sometimes going to the 2^nd floor which makes it very convenient to get to the theatre front. And, there are times where I do have to park outside in the parking lot behind or across the street. I haven’t parked in the adjacent areas behind Marukai. The limited lighting and foot traffic, looks conducive to break ins. Not that I am speaking from experience, of course. hehehe Valet parking is available during the evening. Never used the service yet.
The big advantage to this location is the many eateries and shops within walking distance. We enjoy eating at Buca Di Beppo during the summer block busters. It’s nice to sit outside after a day at the beach to relax a bit. After the movie, easy walk to Ben and Jerry’s or Lucy’s Lab for a cooler treat.
You can purchase tickets at Fandango for an additional nominal fee. Not my preference, I think I’ve used it twice only. To avoid standing in line, to the right of the entrance doors are the automated ticket machines. No fee there and no line. It amazes me sometimes why there is no line at these machines but yet there is a long &*% line at the ticket windows. hahhaha Go figure. Definitely use your rewards card build those points for free food and tickets. If you go to the Consolidated Theatre website you can sign up for their Newsletter to learn more about special offers & discounts, and free screening invitations. To further save, you can purchase passes from the Tesoro Gas Stations for $ 7.25 each. You can use them on any movie but only after 2 weeks of its initial release. You can use them on the 3D and Titan showings too but it will cost you about $ 3.00 more at the ticket window.
The cool deal is $ 6 Tuesday. Any ticket, any movie, any time, no restrictions is $ 6. This does not apply to all Consolidated Theatres as I tried once at the Kapolei location. Also, on Tuesdays, take advantage of the $ 1 hot dogs and $ 2 popcorn. What a deal, what a steal. However, on those nights, especially for the later showings, I’ve seen the police get called in on several occasions for fights breaking out or staff having to handle the situation. Can’t we just get along? hahaha Best to catch an early evening show to avoid the drama if you go on $ 6 Tuesday. And, as I mentioned earlier, parking can get tight no matter where you park especially during the summer.
For June and July, there’s the Keiki movies they show at 10am on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for $ 1. If you have kids, definitely wanna take advantage of that. So, when they tell you they want to watch the movie that just came out on Friday you say we already saw a movie earlier this week. hahahahaha
With that said, I do enjoy paying more for the Titan XC tickets for those really special flicks. The leather reclining stadium seating is just the bomb. The reserved seats allows you to take the night more leisurely too. And, has a mature crowd for a better movie experience. Seating in other rooms okay. Clean for the most part, and happy the arm rests go up to settle in our seats comfortably together. But, why can’t they get the stickiness off the floors?
I need to give major props to Jordan who has helped us out a few times. First, we bought tickets went out to eat at Genki Sushi and it just took longer than expected. We were late, and he helped us exchange our tickets for the next showing. Thank goodness, I hate missing the previews. Another time, with my son, he was working the food concession and gave us the tip on the best deal. The Kids Snack Box gets you the drink, popcorn and candy for $ 6. And you can upgrade it and still save. Many times, I’ve seen him having to handle the fights breaking out. Yuck.
Water bottles not allowed. I think that came into effect Sep. 2015. However, I get in with my hydroflask. Because maybe we’re not going to throw that away and so many people have them. They may extend that restrictions to those too, we’ll see.
Yes, the restrooms are clean 97% of the time. We guys tend to go after drinking so much pop. It’s a biological issue we can’t help. So, thankful for the clean latrines.
It’s always fun to get there early and look at the new movie posters and display stands. Taking pictures infront of them seems to be the in thing now. Yes, I do it but with a regular camera for reasons of my own. You’ll find many of those pics posted here.
