Went about 10:30 am. to purchase Australian dollar. 4 people in front of me with 2 windows open. DFS has the best rate of all the places I called. The Oanda rate today is 1.36. I was able to purchase AUD at DFS for 1.41! Call them when they are open to get a recorded message giving you the current rate.

Wow this place will probably get you the most for your money. I changed USD to Australian dollar for my upcoming trip and I got $ 1.40 AUD per US $ 1. I did a quick search on google of the current rate and it was US $ 1 = AUD $ 1.35. So I got a better rate than what I searched online. There is also no service charge. I will always be coming here to exchange money. The other day I went to the currency exchange at Ala Moana and they offered $ 1.17 per US dollar. What a rip off.

Let me tell you service and availability is King in any business and DFS has both. Went across the street to Pacific Exchange to see what they were offering for Yen. Pacific RAN OUT since the rate went up to 121.20. I even asked for as little as $ 200.00 or $ 100.00 and they said no!
We went to DFS as a result of availability and you know what? We exchanged $ 300 and only paid a difference of less than $ 2.75 for the total exchange!!! It was worth paying $ 2.71 to get it from DFS. The bonus was that since we were going to Korea as well we exchanged $ 200 since the rate was so good. They actually paid 84 Won more per $ 1.00 compared to the exchange rate! Double bonus! Definitely will return again as our trip gets closer and the rate is going up. As I stated, service and availability is what DFS offers and I will be returning and not even comparing to Pacific anymore!

This place is located in the service lobby of the DFS in the middle of Wakiki. There is usually a long line to get exchange but they seem to dictate the rates here that some of the smaller mom and pop exchange stands do outside. The woman at this exchange desk is constantly busy but I was surprised to find that she was in very good spirits when I finally made my way up to the counter. Go early for the exchange as they will run out of the more popular currencies later in the day such as the Yen.

Pros: lady worker was really nice, rates are awesome, open until late even on weekdays
Cons: went to get korean won, and they didn’t have any. Also the parking is essentially non-​existent.
Overall, I’ve been doing a lot of international travel recently and the JPY rates were awesome so I may come back for my next visit to Japan. Very disappointed that they didn’t have the money I needed though.

+ Great rates.
— No parking.
— LONG lines/​wicked crowded inside DFS Galleria.
— They say they have currency available, then they don’t: I called to see if they had Hong Kong dollars available. They said, «YES.» So, I drove to Waikiki (which I HATE doing) and stood in line and waited for 20+ minutes (which I also HATE doing) only to be told that they DON’T have Hong Kong dollars!!! WTF!!!
If you’re looking for Yen, you’re better off going across the street to Pacific Money Exchange (comparable rates, no lines, less crowded and better service).
If you’re looking for Hong Kong dollars, apparently you need to go elsewhere also :-(

DFS Galleria Currency Exchange rate is better than Pacific Currency Exchange rate today. ¥118.87 to USD today 12÷12÷14 for anyone. No specials for kamaaina. But better rate today than Pacific Currency Exchange. DFS Galleria Currency Exchange also doesn’t charge a fee. They give small ¥-bills. Transactions up to $ 999.00.

The DFS Money Exchange window is on the ground floor in the lobby of the DFS Galleria. They usually have one of the best rates on the island for buying Yen. You can check the Pacific Money Exchange across the street too but when we went the DFS Money exchange was .5 higher.
The person working behind the window is always friendly and helpful. They do require your picture ID so make sure you don’t forget it. There is also a $ 999.00 per day limit.
