Just love the local vibe! After or before a great hike up diamond head we always stop for some great food and freshly squeezed juices!

Sweet potato mochi coated in tempura then deep fried and sprinkled with furikake. Oh, my god! How can something so simple taste so heavenly? Whilst it may not be the healthiest thing in the world, it’s a nice treat every now and then. Since it contains sweet potato you can feel less guilty… maybe.

Whenever I spot them at one of the Farmer’s Markets I immediately swoop in for a landing. Everything they make is delicious, but their sweet potato mochi is NOT to be missed.

Probably the only booth I go to when I come to the farmer’s market! The sweet potato mochi is to die for! It is so delicious! I cannot believe how they make it so yummy! The arancini is also a must have! Someplace that I always come to at the farmers market. Glad I discovered them at the blaisdell farmer’s market

Flavor Wave has a tent at the Tuesday Night Farmer’s Market at Kapiolani Community College. It is run by a sister(Lori) and brother(I am 89% sure his name is David) who are working to establish themselves at other markets. Both are incredibly nice. I am completely addicted to their Calamansi Juice. They get their calamansi from Kogachi Nursery and squeeze em by hand. The taste is not too tart and not too sweet. :) My friend described it as lime meets orange flavor. Whatever the taste, it is fabulous. You can bring your own mug and they’ll fill it up. My other usual is their Aracini. Risotto rice and mozzarella cheese(with some local tatsoi and mushrooms) that is breaded and fried. It comes with a creamy garlic sauce. BUT! I just recently tried their Okinawan Sweet Potato Mochi. New favorite! The super soft mochi is dipped in tempura batter and then fried. The tempura provides a lovely crunch. Then it is sprinkled with furikake, which adds a nice salty element. Sometimes there can be a bit of a wait but it’s worth it cos the food is cooked to order and comes piping hot. This is one tent I always visit at the market.

MYFAVORITEBOOTH at the KCC farmers market(now on tuesday nights, 4 – 7). Everything I tried, and I tried everything, tasted great! Even the calamansi juice was delish! It was sweet and refreshing, and one of the only beverages I saw being served. The sweet potato mochi with furikake. YUM. Beef and thai basil lumpia. YUM. Arancini(kind of like deep fried cheesy risotto). YUM. The guy taking orders was really nice too! I’ll be back!
