The preventative and maintenance level of care received from. Dr. Umeda is truly superior and noteworthy to any care I have received previously! The staff are all so friendly, efficient and accommodating! And the office is open on Saturdays, a definite plus! Woo hoo!

Dr. Umeda and his team are by far the best on the island. From scheduling, follow ups, and procedures him and his staff are hands down the best. They always make you feel welcomed and at home. Whatever the financial case he tries to work with you, he cares about his patients and treats them like family and it’s evident in his practice.
His office is located in the center of Honolulu across from Don Quiote. Scheduling is preferred, and they always make sure to follow up every six months or before an appointment.
They’re always trying new procedures and products and you leave there with samples. They also are excellent at communicating what you need to do at home and different preventative measures that will assure healthy gums and teeth.
I’ve been going to Dr. Umeda since I was a little kid, and when I have kids I hope to bring them to him as well.

I’ve been going to Dr Gary since I was around 10 years old and he is the best! I always look forward to visiting their office because everyone is kind and caring and I know I am getting the very best from Dr. Gary. I had a bunch of cavities as a kid and every time he drilled and filled, I knew I was in excellent hands and had no fear of pain or mistakes. However his goal is for my teeth to be healthy enough to never need another filling. He’s very detailed about screening for weak spots and gives non-​invasive alternatives to re-​mineralize the tooth before a cavity forms. He is always considering the long term, whether he’s choosing a material for a filling, or teaching me better habits to avoid gum recession or he’s helping me to understand how to create a healthy microbial environment in my mouth so I avoid problems in the first place. My whole family has gone to Dr. Gary for years and he’s helped my mom with two broken teeth with great results. The support staff is all around great from the front desk to the hygienists to the assistants. I get follow up calls for any concerns I might have had, even the minor ones. I have never received the same level of service with any other health care professional, from general practitioners to specialized treatments at any price point. Dr. Gary is the gold standard!

Dr. Umeda is one of the finest Dentists on the island. He’s been doing my dental work since i was born! And once in a while, I’ve had to see other dentists for this reason (being off island) or that reason (temporarily being uninsured. EVERY other dentist I have seen has complemented my dental work. His staff is very friendly. I love the hygienists, especially Jamie. Be prepared to pay a little more at Dr. Umeda’s. Also, although they do have finance plans available so you can pay for your care, you’ll have to front the cost of your visit yourself. They don’t accept mere co-​payments. Instead, they’ll submit paperwork for you to your insurance company, so YOU get reimbursed by your insurance company directly. Guess it’s easier for the dentist office that way. Anyway, Dr. Umeda is very smart, sensitive to his patients’ needs, and a top-​notch dentist. Highly recommend!
