Holokai Catamaran

We had a wonderful time and found the cat cruise at sunset off Waikiki to be everything we’d hoped for and more. From the get-​go a first class operation. Boarded and launched on time, easy to board, and a great ride. First rule of the boat: don’t get off the boat until we return to the beach. LOL aka no swimming/​diving from the cat. Austin the bartender provided great adult beverage service and Jonathan, the cat Captain, did a great job safely navigating us out and back. We didn’t say goodbye or Aloha. Instead an enthusiastic, «We’ll be back!» Mahalo!

Dave & Phillipe!!! I booked this for one of our days on vacation and goodness this was on of the best experiences we had in our trip. We left from the Outrigger Reef hotel beach front by the Shorebird restaurant. We signed in, put our shoes in a bucket and waited in line for photos and boarding. Their staff was super friendly from the sign in to the sailing itself.
As we entered the boat filled up and we took the sunset open bar cruise! It was 2 hours long and seriously so fun. Dave & Phillipe entertained the guests and served drinks. They played the best playlist from Sublime to Journey. The weather was perfect, bring a light jacket like they say in case. I didn’t use mine because they Holokai Hooch drink warned me up! It was so good and I have no clue what was in it lol.
From the cheering, Hollering at the less fun catamarans, singing happy birthday to one of the people on board, watching people start to get tipsy to the big waves we passed & dolphin sightings this trip was so worth it. It was $ 116 for two plus tip. And these guys definitely deserved the tips!
They even ring their bell & blow animal sounds through their conch shell for you if you tip a $ 20. Haha.
But I can’t explain this experience you have to get on it for yourself. I hope this catamaran stays for a long long time because I definitely want to be on it every time I visit Oahu. Do yourself a favor and choose this over other catamarans and you won’t regret it.
Only caution: they do have a little restroom down the stairs but it’s tricky I hear you have to pump it after usage not turn it. Plus people can get a little sloppy so be careful or hold it until you arrive on shore, there are restrooms after passing Shorebird restaurant to your left.

We had a great experience! Everyone was so nice! We did the 1 ½ hr ride at 3:00 and all I can bad is I wish it was longer, we could of easily rode all day! The boat is very clean, the staff is super friendly, the drinks are good and it was fun for the whole family.

Booked a private charter for pre-​wedding festivities on Mothers Day Weekend. I thought it would be difficult to reserve on a «holiday» weekend but we were able to reserve the catamaran with no hassles. From our initial inquiry with John (fast, thorough responses and very knowledgable) to stepping off the catamaran, John and the entire Holokai crew were helpful and made our event truly memorable. The facility was clean, great drink options for the open bar, smooth sailing, and was even friendly enough for our 4 month old niece. We had a great time; thank you again for a great pre-​party!

Had a great time tonight. My only suggestion for improvement would be if they had cup holders; would be nice to have a place to put my drink down to take pictures. Had a great time!

Review for the Friday night fire works cruise. Being ocd about being on time as we always are, we got down to the beach next to the back side of the halekulani hotel to board the catamaran at 630 as was specified in our confirmation. I kind of had a feeling that, seeing as the cruise started at 7, we really had no reason to get there early, and I was right. We stood around and waited until they boarded at 710, but there was a nearby bar right inside the hotel next to the halekulani. Also, we were able to take in the sunset and views of diamond head, so not such a bad spot to wait. The tide is rough coming in, so please be prepared to get a bit wet as you board the catamaran. You will also have to remove your shoes, so your feet and ankles will get sandy. This fireworks cruise was not open bar, although they did have a bar on board serving a special drink in a collectible shaker, $ 10 for it but ur basically paying for the shaker as the drink was all sugar and no booze. They also have beers, wines, waters, soft drinks, etc for purchase. The cruise itself was nice, they take you out decently far, although you really do not get close to diamond head at all. You go more in the other direction towards downtown Honolulu and where the fireworks show is. The fireworks were nice, nothing special but a little 5 minute show that the boat positions for a great view of. After that, you cruise around for another half hour or so, which I found boring as it’s pretty dark. The lighted shoreline is nice to view but I was over it after about 10 minutes. Boat is very choppy so be prepared to sit or hang on to the railing the whole time. For the price, I don’t think it’s worth it, fun to do once but I wouldn’t do it again. Maybe it’s just me though, I’m not a fan of scheduled events where someone else is managing your schedule, and on this you’re pretty much marching to the beat of the captains drum as far as pace, starting time, and ending time goes. I enjoyed watching the catamarans from the balcony of our hotel more than actually being on it.

These guys are the real deal! We had such a great time. We took our 7 year son with us for the turtle snorkel package. Very friendly staff. The guys on the boat catered to our son by helping him find turtles and bringing up sea urchins and even a baby octopus! Their pricing is easily the best value. We didn’t partake in the bar, but the prices were very reasonable. Super friendly professional staff, very clean boat, and top quality equipment. You’d be losing out if you used any other company. Thanks again for the great time!

Overall the catamaran was a good time and I would recommend it to other people. We went on the fireworks tour and the view was awesome and the ride was smooth. The only reason it’s not a five star review is because they didn’t do a last call for the bar! They offer a ten dollar shaker with three dollar refills. I just wanted a refill and I thought it was super lame that the crew was unwilling to ensure that I got a great experience in that aspect.

These guys are by far the best experience on the water, friendly and informative and they make a mean drink! We have sailed with them at least a dozen times and never disappointed. They will even troll for fish, once they caught an ono and before we knew it we were snacking on the freshest Sushi ever. Capt Dave, Ryan, first mates Austin and Michelle and of course Milan. The catamaran ride itself is everything you can expect when you go on these sunset tours. I appreciate their organization in getting us all checked in, taking our photos, and getting us on the catamaran. On the plus note, the catamaran was very clean.
Unlike the marina, there is no parking for this. Most people chose to valet their cars in the hotel nearby. I parked my car in the parking garage where H&M is located — 7 flat rate with piece of mind — can’t go wrong.
Crew was very friendly & happy to make us our drinks. If I could change anything, I would change the music to a more upbeat, dance type to get everyone into the booze cruise mood!

Family was visiting from the mainland. We parked at Fort DeRussy Parking Lot. The meeting spot is a close easy walk thru the Outrigger Reef Hotel to the beach area and on the Left Hand side. There is also an outside walkway on the side of the hotel leading to the beach with public bathrooms and showers on the right hand side as you approach Waikiki Beach. We were booked for the Turtle Canyon Snorkeling Tour at 1:00pm, but due to the high winds it was cancelled. I received a refund. Our group of 5 were still able to take a lovely relaxing catamaran ride. The 2-​person crew was very nice & friendly. The Catamaran is brand new and only 9 months old. It is very clean! Highly recommend it! Highlight of my relatives trip to Hawaii!

Like a private tour there were only 10 of us. All you can drink, nothing great but it is unlimited. I payed $ 40 at the beach. Crew was very nice and was well worth the money. Leaves from the Sheraton. out tour left at 11:30 am.

We took the afternoon sail and loved it. We saw whales and had lots of fun with the other passengers! The crew members were great and slowed things down for some who were getting a little scared. This was our second time doing this sail and the last time was more exciting because of more wind and less nervous people on board. But this time I understood the crew had to tone things down a bit because of people not as used to the waves and splashes. I would go again and so would my husband. We even purchased a picture because the photographer really did a great job and with Diamond Head in the background who could resist

A definite thing to do while staying in Waikiki. The Vive Hotel recommended a sunset cruise and suggested that the Holokai was one of the best cruises.
The crew was friendly and very professional. They set out an hour before sunset, you cruise around the bay, enjoy some tasty libations (they make a killer rum punch) and you experience the sunset on a Catamaran in Waikiki…

One of the highlights of our time in Waikiki. Professional (and light-​hearted) crew focused on being safe and having a great time on the water. Be sure to make reservations in advance on their website.
My better half and I did both the sunset cruise and the Friday fireworks cruise. Both required that you check in with the coordinator 30 minutes before the departure time. The boarding area is on the sand right in front of the ‘Waikiki Shore by Outrigger’ hotel and boarding is barefoot.
Once onboard, the crew goes over some safety details (where to sit/​stand, life jackets, etc) and then goes into the trip details (route of the trip, open vs cash bar, drink types, etc). As someone who had been seasick earlier in the day, I had no issues at all on this boat. You can really tell that the crew is experienced and focused on a comfortable ride for everyone.
Overall the experience was great. We look forward to looking these guys up the next time we’re in Oahu!

Super relaxing cruise with all you can drink booze and a view of the beautiful sunset.
You’re required to get to the catamaran departure location about 30 minutes prior to take off. It’s mostly to get in line to take a picture in front of the vessel prior to boarding.
Once you get on board, the captain provides a brief introduction and the cruise begins. The cruise lasts about 2 hours during which you have access to an open bar. They provide a decent array of drink options including their signature cocktail (a mix of pineapple and guava juice and rum). It’s delicious.
The views from the boat are beautiful. During the first portion of cruise you get a closer look at Diamond Head and a view of the Honolulu coastline. Midway, the captain turns the boat around and you get to see the sunset over the horizon… it’s breath taking.
The crew is pretty friendly and want to ensure you’re having a good time.
It’s only $ 50/​person. I think it’s well worth the price for the experience.

A must-​do, but not spectacular.
As someone who DON’T know how to swim, and scared of water, shouldn’t I be staying off boat? You’d think so. Instead, I planned a 1.5 hour sunset cocktail sail from Waikiki Beach!

An easily accessible departure location: Outrigger Reef on the Beach Hotel — Beachside — In Front of the Shore Bird Restaurant on Gray’s Beach.
Clothing:
— You will be barefoot. You’ll have to remove your footwear to board the catamaran, as it is a barefoot cruise. Not even watershoes are allowed, they will be collected before you board. There will be a bucket where you will leave your shoes/​slippers in.
— The wind on the ocean is strong specially when the catamaran speed. I suggest you don’t wear your sundress or skirt. Also, it might be a smart idea to bring a light jacket.
— The violent water of the pacific (big waves) and the fast catamaran will get you WET!!!
Expectations:
— An open bar (all-​you-​can-​drink): Non-​alcoholic drinks, bottled water, wine, champagne, many beers, and «Holokai» cocktail.
— Sail exactly at 5:30pm, but be there at least 15 minutes earlier.
— Don’t forget your I. D, it will be checked once you sign in. It is a drinking cruise, remember?
— Your picture will be taken in front of the catamaran ($ 20), no obligation to buy.
— Be aware, you may get seasick.
— Once you sail, Strangers will become friends and you will leisurely sail and enjoy the panoramic view of diamond head and Waikiki lights, together. Sunset view is unforgettable.
— The crew was amazing. The music was good. The catamaran was clean.
I may go again, only if I learned how to swim, and get over my aqua-​phobia.
