Love the sushi. Love the bubble drinks. Love the snow ice. Have yet to try the pretty pastries but I’m sure they are delish. Usually like to get the spicy ahi tempura roll(8pc) just cus it’s an amazing explosive foodgasm in your mouth. So good wow. Run by only one man as far as I’ve seen. He does it all in a timely manner. But I don’t tend to try to rush perfection. I don’t drive but it’s probably a little difficult to find parking in that area. I suggest asking a friend to drop you off and then drive around until your food is ready. Small place, easy to miss.

My new favorite spot for sushi. Got my money’s worth. Actually it’s dirt cheap for some sushi. Love this place and my new spot til a new one is discovered.

He made a perfect cake for my friend’s bday. He’s so happy when he saw the cake. It is too cute that we don’t want to put candles on the face. And it was delicious! Light, not super cream, reasonable price. I will definitely come back next time. Thank you so much for your great work!

Jay’s Café is a tiny bakery inconveniently located on busy Liliha street. However, if in the area it’s worth a try! It’s located 200-steps makai of Liliha Bakery, 100-steps across of Salted Lemon, or 50-steps Ewa from Foodland. Tiny parking behind building or good luck with the metered parking. Pros: –Shaved snow is delicious! It’s like shave ice made w the flavor already blended in. I love the strawberry & melon! –Red velvet cakes! Served in whole cakes or by slices. Seems lighter than American or European cakes. All the cakes I’ve tried were good! –The husband and wife team are super friendly! –Prices are affordable! $ 5 and you’ll definitely have extra! Cons: –Can’t really blame them for parking but it’s non-existent except for the maybe one in the back of the building! –Somewhat limited menu, but no I wouldn’t exactly get the sushi here anyway! I like Jay’s Café but not crazy for it. Just a clean & fresh«Asian» style dessert spot. Owners are friendly and I believe they just opened a second location in Kaneohe! I would return but wouldn’t go out of my way to get here!

OK I have seen this on Unilocal and drove by a couple time so decided to give it a try. Small hole in the place. Place looks clean. I ordered the salmon tempura roll, honeydew Melon bubble drink, strawberry shortcake and red velvet choc chips cookies. It is so delish. He takes time making the order. But everything is good. Must check it out

The parking of Jays is right in the back, there’s tons of parking there so don’t fret! I was in the mood for shave ice on this hot Hawaiian Sunday so I settled for some Snow Ice which is equally tasty and refreshing. I got the Small Mixed Green Tea and Taro snow if for $ 4.50, & a #4 which had 4pcs California Roll, 2 pcs Garlic Salmon, 1 Unagi, and 1 Ebi for $ 6.50. Check out the pics. Mahalo Jay’s!

Definitely not worth coming back. Came in and the worker was busy watching tv. Ordered 4 item and he clearly did not understand me. I ordered the mango pudding, mango mousse, strawberry mousse, and strawberry snow ice. All were mediocre. I ordered a large strawberry snow ice, but he said he only had enough for a small, which turned out to be a good thing because it tastes nasty. He didn’t even bag my items nor give me spoons or napkins for my items.

Omg. New favorite sushi take out! How did I never come here when I used to work in kalihi?! Jay’s is located on Liliha and has a little parking lot in the back if you can’t find street parking. The one man show was very quiet, but nice. It took me awhile to decide on what to order because all their sushi combinations are so appealing! I wanted to order every single thing on the menu. I settled on a combo of garlicky nigiri with two unagi nigiri. I thought I saw that it came with ahi, shrimp and salmon, but I only got ahi and shrimp. Maybe they ran out of salmon… the nice man should have told me if that was the case. It didn’t matter though, the garlic sauce on top was absolutely amazing. It was genki sushi style: crazy garlic sauce on top, fired with a blow torch. It was better than genki though. The sauce was so flavorful and fresh tasting. Next time, I’ll have to try the spicy ahi bowl:) They also have shaved snow and boba drinks. I ordered the honey lemon tea, which was very good. There are also a couple tables and chairs inside, but the ambiance/décor is pretty much nonexistent. Don’t expect much from this cheap, but good sushi take out place!

One of my favorite places to eat! Their spicy ahi bowls are my favorite! I love their sushi, especially the garlic salmon one! Don’t even get me started on their deserts… This café makes their deserts Japanese style, their cakes are light and fluffy. Definitely will always be my favorite place for sushi and cakes! They also sell snow and it tastes amazing and it’s huge and for sure enough for two people! You pretty much can’t go wrong with anything in their store!

I’ve been wanting to try this place out for a while now and I’m glad I finally did! It’s an affordable, small sushi place in town(Liliha) and it’s easy to find! There are many sushi combinations, bubble drinks, snow desserts, pudding/jello, and cakes! My friend and I only came for the sushi though. I got the meal set 9($ 7.50): California roll(4 pc), spicy tuna bomb(2 pc), and garlic ahi(2 pc). There was lots of crab in the California roll, the spicy ahi wasn’t anything special but the inari used was delicious!, and the garlic sauce used for the garlic ahi was absolutely lovely. I also got a small spicy ahi«bowl»($ 3.75) to eat as a snack in case I had work later. My friend got meal set 16($ 9.50): spicy tuna bomb(4 pc) and garlic salmon(4 pc). The salmon used for the garlic salmon was yummy and didn’t taste fishy at all. I recommend it!!! Overall, the experience was good. :) The sushi is made to order by one person so it takes longer than other places would take but the wait is worth it for the quality and the neat presentation they put it in. I can’t wait to come back for their desserts and more sushi.(4 stars only because you get so much rice and you get only half the spicy ahi it shows on the pictures)

Formerly a baker from Elvin’s Bakery, this nice young chinese couple dedicate to their craft of exquisite cakes, cookies, shaved ice cream(yes ice cream) and sushi? Yes SUSHI!!! This is the place to go in the Liliha area where they offer a WIDE assortment of sushi, ALL made to order. Their menu is exhausting with various types of ahi, salmon, unagi, scallop, shrimp, vegi’s, etc… in MANY forms(hand rolls, nigiri, maki, futo, etc…). They use quality ingredients and it’s a place I love to hit up whenever possible. They also serve shaved ice cream, yes I said ice cream!!! Lots of flavors, included toppings, and great portions at good prices. It’s shaven very thin… like Shimazu’s so it quickly melts in your mouth but is CREAMY… hmm… Last but not least, their cakes are«TODIE» for… I recently picked up a Strawberry Shortcake for a birthday, and everyone at the party LOVED it. Jay’s is generous with the fresh strawberry slices between the layers, and all the fresh fruit toppings. Not to mention, they are super flexible. I was able to do a same-day custom order, and they made it from scratch that day!!! Overall their food is just outstanding, and the prices are super reasonable. The husband-wife team are super nice & very accommodating. Overall a MUST-TRY!!!

Small little bakery that sells bubble tea, shave ice type desserts, baked goods like muffins and cookies, and SUSHI?! I had their sushi once and I got a pretty bad stomach ache. They also don’t give you a lot of fish, it’s mostly rice! Stick to the drinks and cookies.

As you might know by now, I love supporting local family run businesses and especially love writing reviews for them when they are awesome! Jay’s Café is literally a tiny hole in the wall establishment but the owners are so pleasant and friendly, it feels homey. I walked in praying they had a birthday cake to purchase as they were closing in a half hour. Luckily they had several flavors left. I got the mango mousse flavored cake and it was a hit! The cake was topped with lots of fruits arranged beautifully. All done when ordered might I add and it didn’t take long at all. The cake itself was light, moist, fluffy and not overly sweet. It had just enough of mango flavor to tantalize your taste buds. I only wished that I had purchased a bigger cake size so there was more to go around! I also tried their spicy tuna hand roll while i waited for the cake. It wasn’t Genki Sushi spicy tuna but for the price and portions, definitely worth getting. It tasted fresh and was pretty ono! I am looking forward to ordering more cakes for future parties or just because they are so delish!

I come here a lot before work because it’s near my house and I actually enjoy the sushi and bubble drinks ! I love how they have combos and they make the sushi fresh upon ordering! The owners are really nice and friendly. I have yet to try their desserts and snow ice but I will soon! Great hole in the wall place for a quick bite to eat.

What a fun cute shop! I happened to stumble upon Jay’s Café while waiting for my food at a nearby reasautrant in Liliha. I spy with my little eye shaved snow. I’ve eaten shaved ice my entire life, but never tried shaved snow. Imagine eating ribbons of flavored ice that melts in your mouth. It’s been around for several years now. This was my opportunity to try it! For $ 3.50 you get a nice bowl full of shaved snow with tons of goodies — Chinese jellies, Popping Boba, Japanese mini-mochi balls, and several other good tasting treats. There is about 8 flavors to choose from — Mango, green tea, honeydew melon, milk tea, strawberry, etc. I opted for the Strawberry(for mom) and the Honeydew Melon(for me). Both were delicious.(Sorry the desserts were a bit melted, as I rushed home to take it to mom). The strawberry tasted like strawberry-ish ice cream and the honeydew tasted like the Korean melona ice cream bar. Both highly recommended. It was fun to eat the ribbons of shaved flavored snow with the variety of packed goodies. The owner and his wife were SUPER friendly and welcoming! Great customer service. Also check out the fresh made cakes and cookies. Everything looks delicious here! Food Grade: A– Service Grade: A+ Worth the Money Grade: A+ Overall Impression: A.

The Sushi wasn’t very good. I’m sad. The Shave Ice(Snow) was Good but not as good as Ice Forest. 4 stars. Owners were nice and everything was clean.
