I came to K&Y today and they were the furthest thing from friendly. The lady that met me looked annoyed that I was there so early, hardly listened to me when I told her what’s wrong with my car, then told me that it would be $ 110/​hr (for God knows how many hours) to diagnose my car… this is after I told them that my car dies while I drive it. It was unfortunate that they didn’t show much concern. Zero customer service… after 10 minutes (or less) at their shop, I found myself leaving upset. I’d rather take my business elsewhere.

I had a fantastic experience in a very complicated situation. I bought a car on Craigslist for under $ 500 and these guys fixed it up for me. Now it runs a charm. I will be going back for all my needs

I came here based on positive Unilocal reviews to get my safety check and have my engine checked out. Positive, positive experience.
Gilda and her husband Frank don’t mince words. They are very pragmatic in their interaction. They will tell you straight up if they can take you or not. They will tell you they accept credit card without any prompting. They will tell you what their findings are and ask you if you want them to work on the car. If they say 12 noon, the car is ready then and all the billing info is ready for you. Some may perceive this as unfriendly or cold, but understand that they’re family-​run and very busy.
Organized, efficient, practical. The rate is also very affordable. I will be a returning customer.

What more can you ask from an auto shop?
I got my starter in my 05 Honda Civic changed, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the service. 5 stars and 2 thumbs up.

Excellent all the way around. I visited two other auto shops prior to finding K & Y Auto. Frank diagnosed the issue which was diffierent and less major than the first 2 «estimates.» Accurate, HONEST, consistent and affordable perfectly summarizes my experience at K&Y Auto Service. I would recommend them without heistation. Been going back ever since!

This is a family run business; I felt at ease taking my car in for a safety inspect– just when I landed fresh on the island. They are very straightforward and try to be accommodating to scheduling. I am now going back for regular maintenance and am glad to find someone I can trust.

AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE! Very accommodating too bad we live a little out of the way. Frank is very frank about what has to be done, LOL, doesn’t add stuff we don’t need. Very reasonable. The office is run by his wife Gilda, super service and professional.
Drawback is that if you’re unlucky parking is limited… So far I’ve been lucky to get one.

It’s so refreshing to find good business ethics in Hawaii. Took my car here for a brake job. I was told I needed pads and rotors from another shop, and these guys look at my car and tell me I only need pads, that my rotors were still fine. The integrity of this shop is very apparent, and they saved me some money! Can’t thank them enough. I will be taking my car here for any repairs and recommending them to anyone I come across looking for a trustworthy, and affordable auto shop! WOO HOO! Thanks a ton guys! and bonus, they finished the work in a very timely manner, and called me to let me know it was done.

Came in for safety check. Fast and cheap. Only downside had hard time finding the spot to pull my car in.

Went in thinking I needed to get my clutch replaced which is big bucks. Frank found out what the problem was and gave me a call saying it wasn’t the clutch. It was the clutch plate that completely cracked in half… I rather pay $ 200 than $ 1500!!!
So everything was all good, thanks Frank!
Just 1 thing though, someone definitely needs to work on her customer service skills because she is just rude.

I came in today to get my safety inspection that was a couple months overdue (oops) I went on Unilocal to find a location in the area near my job so I could go on my lunch. I found the shop after circling for a while soon as I pulled up he went straight to work I was out of there in less than 20 mins. The best part of it all I asked him how I could get the taxi stickers that were on front of my truck he went to the front and removed them for me I am so grateful, he wasn’t the most outwardly friendly person but you can tell he has a kind heart. Thank you!

The first thing she said on the phone, «What do you need!». I ended up not using their service today. Horrible customer service.

I have been to K&Y Auto Service several times with a friend getting his car serviced or repaired for different things. They seem to be able to do almost all of your auto repairs and oil changes.
They are «no nonsense» auto mechanics and I think that is why they have such a good reputation with my friends. Family run business!

They do a good job fixing cars since they service our vehicles. Frank and his son does a very good job at fixing our cars and they’re very honest and reasonable.
Everything is all «G», except for 1 bad person there.

Great service! I had just moved to the island from the mainland and just got my car shipped to Honolulu. I wanted to get on the registration process as soon as possible. There was a huge list of things I needed to do, such as get car insurance in hawaii, get a safety check inspection, then go city hall, then back to the safety check inspection place, etc. I found out from a nearby inspection place that I needed to get my bumper repaired because it was sticking out slightly from an old accident from back on the mainland, and it would not pass the safety inspection. I Unilocaled the closest repair shop and found K & Y Auto Service, and they said they would try to fix it for me.
The guy who worked on my car was able to screw the bumper back on, and made it more secure and also made it look so much better than before. I also overheard a customer there talking about safety inspections, and when I realized that they offered the service, I had them perform the check on my car right on the spot.
It seems like a nice small family-​run business, with Gilda working in the office doing the paperwork, and the mechanic who worked on my car seemed to be her son. His little baby girl was also there, watching her dad check out my car, and he had to tell her a few times to stay put, because she kept examining my bumper and pointing out the dents in it, lol. He was very professional about it and then put her down in the office with her grandma while he worked on my car. But when he wasn’t working, she was back in his arms.
Finally, after a stop to the Ala Moana City Hall Satellite, per Gilda’s recommendation, to complete the registration, I made one last trip back to the repair shop to get my registration finalized and had him put on my new Hawaii plates! It was sooo exciting, getting my Cali plates switched out for the Hawaii ones! =)
I’m so glad I was able to complete the whole process all in one morning, thanks to the help of K & Y Auto Service. I was also thankful for Unilocal for helping me find the place! Woot!

Because my brakes were obviously not functioning properly as I went to the gym the other night, I called here the next morning shortly after they opened at 7am. Because of the emergency I was given the green light to bring my car in that morning.
Frank took a look at it and then asked me what kind of problems I had. Was advised a part needed to be ordered and Gilda took my cell number down as she’ll call me when the car’s done.
As I went to Ala Moana Beach Park to clear my mind, I received a phone call from Gilda much faster than I had expected advising my car would be done soon so I could head back to the shop.

EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE! I can’t begin to thank them, they are a life saver. Basically I noticed that the rear right break light was out, only problem was that I noticed it at 4pm. Usually by now most repair shops are closed. But we made a call to K&Y and were told to come down. The worker began the work right away and we were out of there in less than 10 minutes. How is that for fast speedy service and great customer care?
