Kau Kau Grill

Ordered garlic ahi for $ 12 plus tax! First food truck I had to pay tax! Tasted very bland and small ahi portions on top of bed of rice. Overpriced plate lunch. They Offered No napkins. First and last time eating at this wagon.

I first chanced upon Kau Kau grill with my brother in early January 2014. I ordered a mini garlic chicken with white rice and Mac salad. When I opened my plate lunch I was pleasantly surprised at the style of garlic chicken. The dish blew my mind. I felt it was due, in large part, to their home style cooking.
Since then I have taken all of my coworkers to the lunch there. Now we are to the point that we eat there, as a department, once a week. And since their location changes depending on the day — we will drive or walk just to get our fix.
The crazy rice is ono, so are the ribs and the cheese burgers — even the shrimp.
I will have to add that Ty and Nolan are super friendly and personal in their service.
$$ it will set you back 7 to 8 bucks for a mini but it’s worth it. If you call ahead they will have your order ready and make sure to ask them where they are parked for the day. You don’t want to drive or walk to the wrong spot.

I LOVE their ribs! I had never tried them until a friend offered me a bite. Now I search for them whenever I’m Ono for some ribs. They are the best!

What an awesome find, best food in Waikiki so far! The ribs are amazingly tender and fall off the bone! Order the crazy rice, it’s crazy good! The service was fast and friendly! Plenty of parking in the lot and they take credit cards! Huge amounts of food for the price! Utah loves this place!!!

Bomb, bomb and bomb. Ribs = off the chain. Garlic shrimp = off the hook. Tony Romas ain’t got nada on Kau Kau. except for the onion tower. BIG ups Kau Kau truck!

Great Food. Its like eating home cooking. The menu changes day to day and the lady is nice.
