KDNN-FM Island 98.5

A mean rotation of local, island style music mixed with some great on-​air peeps makes for an awesome situation!
I have been in the studio for on-​air promotions twice and that can make one a bit nervous considering that it is live radio. The team makes you feel very relaxed, welcome, and they are just so funny that the conversation feels natural when you’re being interviewed. It’s no wonder the island vibe translates so well to the listener.

Love this radio station! Awesome island and reggae music. The dj’s are all cool, especially Melody! Used to listen to it all the time online in Canada but for some reason I can’t get it anymore. :(

Discovered this radio station as me and my husband were cruising to the North Shore from Waikiki, there were some catchy island songs that we couldn’t get out of our heads and found ourselves singing along to – then realized how hooked we were!
Reggae and Hawaiian music relaxation, really makes you feel the laid back island vibe.
In Hawaii on vacation? Tune in to this station and make the experience 100%!
Now in cold rainy Seattle, I just use the Iheart app through my iphone to listen to the station & get away from it all.
Try listening to it one time on a stressful day in the office and watch others around you including yourself relax to the island soul. It works! lol!
*I always try listening to it in the afternoon (pacific time) because their morning shows has a lot of talking and i don’t really care for that so much. It’s all about the music for me. Mahalo!

Consists of Rory Wild, Gregg Hammer, and Kreyz Oshiro. These guys crack me up every morning. The only radio station that I’m listening to in the morning.

I love Island 98.5. I live in Denver Colorado and listen nearly everyday. Great vibe! One downer however. You need to either kill the bad black jokes from Vic (Mr. Sell out) or send him to a shrink to treat his self hatred disorder. I’m not afraid to laugh at my race but Vic seems to have a real dislike for the 50% of his ethnicity that he claims to represent. He is a poor representative for his race. The human race!!!

I used to listen to this station a lot back in high school when I was more into the Hawaiian Style and Reggae vibe. I still am don’t get me wrong but listen more to HipHop and R&B now. Their morning shows are always great with the radio personality DJs and what not. It’s always great listening to the music when just cruising around especially when you are driving around as well. They play a good mixture of new school Hawaiian style and reggae from new Artists and old school Hawaiian style and reggae from old Artists. Everytime I tune in they don’t play too much commercials which is good. The song playlist also doesn’t repeat a lot. You can visit their website and also listen to them online. They are also on iHeart radio which is awesome. This is also one of the older generation of Hawaiian style and reggae radio stations on your radio dial on the channel.

I absolutely love listening to Island 98.5 through iHeartRadio. This is now one of my favorite music stations to listen to. It is such a relief to hear their music as opposed to having to listen to the same old songs at work that are absolutely boring, monotonous, and annoying! Actually discovered Island 98.5 through a friend who also loves this particular kind of music.

my favorite Hawaiian music radio station. they don’t just play strictly Hawaiian jams, they also play the new hot reggae jams that go good for the irie island feeling. the morning show is pretty funny too. I’m from Cali and i stream it during the day while i do work and of course i bump island reggae 98.5 in the car whenever I’m in Oahu. they’ve also hooked me up with a couple in studio performances at the station with kolohe kai and rebel souljahz so that just made me love them even more!

Even though it’s now been 2 years since my wife and I had a great vacation/​20^th year anniversary in Oahu, I can still relive that time easily by looking at my pictures we took there and listening to Island 98.5 via the internet. This was the station we kept it on while cruising around the island, feeling so relaxed and free. The island style reggae just has a way of making me feel happy and Mento Mele can be a crack up at times.
I really, really, really wish they had a station like this in the area I live in (San Diego), but until they do, even though Hawaii’s a long ways away, 98.5’s still my station of choice!

I usually toggle between 98.5 and 100.3 whenever the radio in my car works. They have the best Hawaiian and local music and don’t clutter their station with too much commercials.

This is one of my favorite radio stations to listen to. It is great to listen to online, especially when I am off the island. I some times go to the local pool and take my laptop with me and listen online. Yes, you really can take the islands with you.

The other radio station that is a must listen to when I’m vacationing on O’ahu. They do drift a bit from the strictly contemporary hawaiian music and play some fresh reggae in all it’s flavors. Apparently they have a streaming online feed as well that I will surely check out.
Just writing this review has me re-​living driving around Honolulu with the windows rolled down, a fresh sea breeze moving through the air, and feeling like I’m more at home than when I’m actually home.
*I’ve been listening to the morning show all this week and I have to say that the commercial asking people to please not pass gas and the medical marijuana testimonials are the best commecials I have ever heard on the radio!*
